Incompetent or dishonest?

A senior estimator/surveyor underestimated my load weight by two and a half tons. Two and a half tons! My cost went up by thousands of dollars. Before signing the contract, I asked several direct questions about the 110% limit to my cost. I asked if that meant that no matter how much the load weighed, no matter how much they got it wrong, my cost would not exceed 10% above the estimated amount. The answers to all my questions led me to believe that my cost could not be more than 10% above the estimate. Apparently, that was just a trick, because they are demanding much more than 10% above the estimate. They did not disclose when or where the weighing would be; I was not invited. Now they want me to pay thousands of dollars more than the estimated cost. There were others things not disclosed -- always serving their interests, not mine. My sense of this experience is that they lowballed the estimate to get the job, did not really disclose the true terms, and pretty much played me for a fool and ripped me off. Unfortunately, this is not over and I fear there are many more unpleasant surprises awaiting me when my stuff is finally delivered. Their packing practices looked very questionable to me, and I fear lots and lots of damage.

Reason of review
Problems with payment

Movers stole over $1000 out of my dresser!!!

I'm in the military and was getting stationed from Hawaii to Florida and was set up with Aloha International moving company. They showed up ready to work and were very nice. I fed them lunch everyday they were there and even tipped each worker. I had over $1000 in my dresser in a envelop that I was going to grab before they packed it up but when I went into the room the guy packing up that room had already packed it up and took it out of my room. I should have made him go unpack it but didn't. When I got my pack out in Florida of course the only thing missing out of my dresser was the money. I called the company and filed a complaint all they did was back up the thief they had working for them. I will be filing a complaint with the military to not use this company so that other military families don't get ripped off like I did.
