Faulty Workmanship - The engine light is back on.I took the vehicle to Bellamy Strickland and they refused to fix the issue due to how ALM installed the O2 sensor. They also left the rubber band from the packaging on the part they replaced. It all boils down to faulty workmanship.

Original review Sep 20, 2023

On July 15, 2023, I purchased a used 2019 white Chevy Tahoe from ALM in Roswell, Georgia. My salesperson was Lamont Fuller.

The following day after purchasing the vehicle, the engine light came on. I had 5 days to bring the vehicle back. Prior to me taking the vehicle back, I had Pep Boys scan it to see what the issue was. I was told by Pep Boys; the catalytic converter was bad, and O2 Sensor needed to be replaced.

I spoke to Lamont he spoke to his manager Jonathon. Lamont told me to bring the vehicle back and they will replace the catalytic converter and O2 Sensor. I took the vehicle back to ALM and they replaced both. After the catalytic converter/O2 Sensor was replaced, I asked for a receipt.

I received a piece of folded copy paper with the words Catalytic Converter O2 Sensor written with an ink pen. I could not believe the mechanic handed that to me. I asked for a receipt for my records which he could not provide me with.

I had to bring the vehicle back at least 2-3 times and they still could not fix the issue.

My second or third time there dealing with the engine light, I finally met the manager, Jonathan. He introduced himself to me and told me he was going to take care of it, and we shook hands.

I stayed up there for 8 hours at least on two different occasions waiting for them to fix my vehicle. I had asked them if they have any loaner vehicles, I was told they do not have loaner vehicles. After my vehicle was fixed, Jonathon told me to drive the truck at least 100 miles to make sure the engine light did not come on. He said if it comes back on, bring it back well take care it You have my word.

Well, that was a lie. He told me that if I had to bring it back, he would take it to the Chevy dealership. That was another lie.

After driving the vehicle over 100 miles within a week, the engine light popped back on. I did not want to keep dealing with ALM, so I took it to Pep Boys again to get it scanned and possibly get it fixed.

The diagnosis was O2 Sensor wire is grounded to body. Pep Boys refused to even touch my car because of that issue. They told me to take it back to the mechanic who replaced the catalytic converter and O2 Sensor.

After leaving Pep Boys, I called ALM several times and left maybe 1-2 messages. Finally, after a few days, Jonathon picked the phone up.

He was not professional at all and went back on his word just that fast. He acted as if he never told me that. We literally debated over the phone about what he told me just a week before. I said you told me to bring the vehicle back if the engine light comes back on after I drive 100 miles.

I had explained to him how Pep Boys refused to fix the vehicle. He was unpleasant and very unprofessional. I told him I needed my vehicle fixed due to me having surgery and my relatives were coming for my surgery to help. Jonathan had the audacity to ask me when my surgery was.

That was none of his business. I explained to him I was a Disabled War Veteran and will show him my medical records if he would like to see them. He changed his attitude very quickly and said he will have one of his guys pick my vehicle up from my home and drop it back off. He also told me he was going to take the vehicle to a Chevy Dealership and have them fix it.

I was satisfied with the idea of them having a chevy dealership fix the problem. Jonathan also gave me his cell number. I was confident that we were on the right track. We ended the call amicably.

When the ALM person picked up my vehicle from my home at the beginning of September, he and I swapped vehicles.

He gave me a loaner car. I was shocked because I was told prior to that day that they did not have loaner cars. I missed 16 hours of work dealing with these folks. It took them a few days to bring me my vehicle back.

When the guy dropped off my vehicle on 9/5/2023 or 9/6/2023, I asked him if they took it to the chevy dealership like Jonathan said he would and he told me No. He informed that ALM mechanics worked on my vehicle. I asked him why Jonathan lied to me and told me that. His response to me was, you will have to speak to Jonathan.

So, Jonathon lied to me again. I then asked him for the receipt to keep for my records. He said Jonathan will give me the receipts tomorrow. The next day I never heard from Jonathan.

I sent him a text message on 9/7/2023 at 12:18 pm and he never responded. I am also submitting the text message from that day. Its been almost a week and I still have not received an email with my receipt nor have I heard from Jonathon. Ive been going back and forth with ALM since July 2023 and its September.

Last week the engine light came back on - its the O2 sensor that was replaced by the ALM mechanics.

My resolution and to make me whole is for them to email me receipts.

Send my car to a chevy dealership as I was told by Jonathon.

With that said, I have every right as a customer to receive receipts for services performed on my vehicle and they are denying me this right. I do not want a verbal receipt or a receipt written on a piece of paper, I need to know exactly what services were performed on my vehicle.

Thank you.

Pros:
  • Nice cars
Cons:
  • Manager is a liar and the mechanics are not experienced

Preferred solution: A receipt for the services performed on my vehicle. The engine light is back on due to O2 sensor - want vehicle taken to chevy dealership.

User's recommendation: Do not buy a vehicle at this location. The will not provide you with a receipt for services performed on your vehicle (please see attached receipt) received from ALM. The manager is a compulsive LIAR
