  • - The reviewer would not recommend this place.
  • - Diagnostic cost $315 and took 3 hours.
  • - They couldn't tell me exactly what's wrong.

Would not recommend this place to anyone not even my worse enemy. We told him what car was doing...not going into 3rd and 4th gear.

He said it was probably accumalator buy would have to do a diagnostic test on it. Which is $105 am hr and he said woulld take 2-3 hrs and of course it took the 3hrs. I dont know why cause after paying the$315 and supposely checking for 3 hrs they still couldnt tell me exactly whats wrong.

They wnt anothet $945 to take it out and check things...no thank you. Getting screwed once is enough.

You paid for the time it took us to diagnose it correctly. The additional money required was for the correct repairs...not for additional diagnostics.

Estimate was low, cost extremely high

AI Highlights
  • - Transmission failed; quotes ranged $1800-$5600.
  • - The $1800 shop treated me well.
  • - The higher-quote shop kept my transmission and I retrieved the parts.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! My transmission went out and I called around town for quotes.

And they said they could match my best quote as $1800, so I decided to go with them since I know a friend of a friend whose Dad owns the shop. Well, once the car was in the shop the quote truned into $5600. I had to tow the car from their shop to the one that quoted me at $1800. I had a great experience with the other shop, and they were disheartened by my story and treated me very well.

THEN!!!!

Upon the delivery of the tow, they decided to keep my transmission and let's just say I had to get pretty aggressive to get all of my parts back. IT WAS A NIGHTMARE!!!

To begin, a quote isn't necessarily a set price. Upon diagnosing the issues with your vehicle, it was determined that the repairs needed were more extensive than previously realized...thus making your repair quote go up to the $5600.

If someone else fixed it for $1800, we are sure that you received the work you paid for.

Regarding the removed transmission, it is of no use to us, so you were free to pick it up at any time. We do not withhold parts, even when a consumer decides not to have repairs done by our shop.

DO NOT USE ALLEN TRANSMISSION - SAINT LOUIS

AI Highlights
  • - Repair for transmission problems cost $2,800.
  • - The car wouldn't start after pickup.
  • - Storage fees demanded; warranty not honored.

THE WORST SERVICE POSSIBLE!!!!!!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!

LET ME GIVE YOU MY STORY:

We have a small used car dealership. In the first Q of 2012 we purchased a car that had transmission problems. So we took the car to Allen Transmission in Ellisville. It took 2 weeks before they called me with an estimate of the repair cost and the total was $2800.00.

We paid the bill and they started working on the car ... We got a phone call from them after 2 weeks notifying us that the car is fixed and ready for pick up! So we went to pick up the car and it wouldn't start. There was not even a noise coming from the car even when we tried to start the car with jumper cables.

I called their shop the next day and I talked to the store manager Jim ...he explained to me that I need a new battery. So I purchased a new battery and they installed it...The next day we tried to pick up the car but there was another problem!!! Because they have disconnected the battery the car locked it and we couldn't unlock it!!!!!!!! Jim told us that we need to call a Locksmith or tow the vehicle on our own expense.

We refused to do such a thing and now they are telling us that we need to pay storage fees for the time our car has been parked on their property or we will not get the car back from them!!!! In addition to that they will not honor the warranty they gave us originally because the 30 day warranty is expired and the car has yet to be driven. I am not even sure they fixed the transmission... There's much more to write but I don't want you to get bored...Please STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.

Save yourself money and aggravation and nothing but problems by NOT CALLING ALLEN TRANSMISSION! If you have similar experience with this company please contact us and we will file a group case in Civil Court against Allen Transmission - allentransmission_claims@***.com

First and foremost, we have a posted policy in our shop that states there will be a daily storage fee. By leaving the vehicle until July, after having dropped it off in the 1st quarter of the year, we were taken advantage of.

As a customer, you chose to warranty the car for 30 days, so the warranty expired while it sat abandoned on our lot. In that time, the battery also went dead.

Couldn't agree more. They are crooks and will not stand behind their work.

Forget the warranty, they just give you one story after another. They never did fix my car correctly. I took it to another shop and they fixed the problem for $75.

Lot of young repair techs at Allen that are basically clueless. Probably a good place to get air put in your tire, but that's all I'd trust them to do.

Overcharged

AI Highlights
  • - Chad quoted 1,500 for transmission repairs.
  • - Actual cost was 2,000.
  • - We learned the price difference after returning home and pickup was denied.

Allen Transmission took advantage of family in problem situation. Driving cross country from Texas through St.

Louis vehicle broke down with transmission problems. Chad quoted 1,500.00 for the repairs.Actual repair cost 2,000.00.We were made aware of this once we arrived home in Chicago waiting for the vehicle to be reapired.Asked Chad if someone could pick us up at airport as we had to leave vehicle and drive back to Chicago after repair was done. Were told no and offered no ideas or help.

Terrible customer service and ripped off!!!! Do not trust these guys.

The $1500 was merely an estimate...upon repairing your vehicle, the repairs needed cost more than the initial quote. This isn't abnormal to experience. Regarding being picked up at the airport...Chad was by himself on that Saturday and did not have the capability of offering assistance to you at that time.
