Verified ReviewerHorrible job
Dave Torres completed our hardwood floor 2 years ago. He came after a couple months to tear existing floor up and then left hardwood in our living room and torn up floor for months.
He then would come with one of his sons to work and leave again for weeks. The whole process took many months only to find he did not stain in many spots. He also did not glue and nail the floor. The floor looks terrible now and needs to be completely replaced.
Finally after 2 years he came to take a look and told us it wasnt his fault. It would be $3000 for him to put a new finish coat on.
He has since disappeared. Terrible workmanship, service, and is extremely dishonest in his reliability and business.

Early termination
After having him come give a quote (he brought his son along, cute right?) I fell for this family man that Could finish my basement in 3-4 weeks.
After a late start and 4 months, our project sat at about 50% done. He took vacation several times, leaving out of town and not arranging things to be done while he was gone. At times our project would sit with no progress for two weeks. He continues to apologize for missing deadlines and a majority of his work days were short because he brought 1-2 of his kids with him to the job.
He was terrible at communicating, and with tight deadlines would only let us know what time to expect him after we would text him...daily. He would waltz in as early as 10:30 am and sometimes as late as 3 pm to start his work day. Often times I would ask for updates on aspects of the project and he would blow me off and never answer me.
By some miracle we had some other contractors in the house working on another project and because David had not shown up that day we had them come inspect his work.
Tile that had been laid was unleveled and tiles even chipped. He had not waterproofed the shower before tiling and failed to move the drain to center it on the wall. The door frame to the utility room was too narrow, making it impossible for a new furnace to fit through the door if ever needed. Drywall in areas will need to be replaced and all door frames will need to be removed and redone.
We decided to terminate our contract with David and left all of his tools on the front porch. The next day we got a text from the electrician who told ya David still owed him $2200 from the work he had done, so it seems we arent the only ones out of money.
After cleaning up downstairs weve found property damage as well. *** in our fence where he often delivered his supplies into the backyard, a broken broom, and plaster material from the shower dumped into our window wells clumping our stone together like concrete.
Im more than happy *** never step foot again in our house and if this review does anything I hope people wont get tricked into thinking this guy has any clue what hes doing. Save yourself time and money (and a lot of angry feelings) and hire someone else.
User's recommendation: Do not hire. Terrible workmanship, terrible communication and deadlines that mean nothing.
Horrible horrible horrible
I hired him to refinish my hardwood floors in a house I had just bought. Floors were around 360 sq feet and he asked for half up front and half at he end - a total of $1600. Because of the way he presented himself including the paper pad he had, I trusted him and gave him half right after the quote. That was a Friday and he said he would begin Saturday and end Sunday. Sunday comes and the person (whom he buys his supplies from) is out of the stain he wants. He says he will be there Monday to finish. I get a text Monday saying he has finished the job and to send payment. Okay, me being stupid and naive, I sent it. Before an inspection. He had said there was a little tape because of the wood filling he had to do and that we needed to take care of that, I figured it wasn’t worth arguing over. The next day, my husband goes to the house and we have spots everywhere that weren’t stained!!! How *** difficult is it to finish a 360 sq foot job?! Apparently very difficult. The next thing we noticed was spots of stain on cabinets, appliances (the fridge and oven) and all over the walls. It was like a drunk guy covered in stain rolled around on the floor and bumped into the surrounding objects. I mean, shouldn’t a professional remember to wipe his hands before touching things?
I hounded him non-stop for a week before he came back. I had text him instructions on how to get inside because nobody could be there to let him in. He threw a huge fit saying he couldn’t do it that day because I wasn’t there to let him inside. Even though I had sent text after text with information.
I had my dad call him since I couldn’t. He told my dad how easy all the fixes were and that it was a waste of his time to come back out. Uhhh...the contract did not say “90% will be completed, you do the other 10%”
At this point, I was humiliated that I had been tricked by him. I truly believe the only reason he showed up was the constant text messages I sent him. ***

#ALL#WOOD#FLOORS#AND#DECKS - Dave Torres was supposed to build a deck and install wood floors for us. We gave a little more than half up front for the job.
After 30 days - almost no work was completed and the work that was done was done improperly. We have asked him numerous times for our money back - less the supplies he bought. He cant give us our money back because the weekend after we gave him the money he took his wife to Las Vegas and lived it up! Now he tells us we are in breach of contract.
I did my due diligence when looking to hire him - he is licensed in the city of Provo - He had no complaints I could find online ...
but he is a thief! Dont use Dave Torres and All Wood Floors and Decks!

You Need to Nail the Deck Bulder - NOW!
George Sarres - Retired Class A Building Contractor.
1. I you live in a provincial area that has building codes.
a. Contact the Building Dept Chief Inspector - request direction on how to submit complaint and file it immediately.
b. I believe, examining your pic as closely as it allows, subj builder has no clue as to proper preparation and basic requirements required to build a safe, durable deck.
c. Request a Certified Copy of his Contractors License from the City of Provo - ascertain who issued the license, if its is any one other than the State of Utah, that would really scare me.
d. If you have a written contract with subject take it to your lawyer to find areas defaulted by Subject actions.
Next time, I respectfully suggest, you ask for no less than five references from past customers in past two years, and personally call each one and inquire- any contractor that is unable to provide five valid references for his work - is not worth your consideration.
