Horrible

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

my experience with all around van lines was horrific from start to finish. I moved from Chicago to Minneapolis in July 2018.

I called to schedule and was given a quote I was happy with. I was given a time frame for pick up and drop off. Because my new job was starting shortly after my move I needed and expedited service and was charged 600 extra dollars for assurance that my things would be dropped on within one to three days instead of ten to fifteen days. I got an email to verify the amount of things I would need transported and a follow up phone call to double check.

Daniella was the woman's name. Everything seemed in order. The day of the pick up I was contacted in the morning with a message that they couldn't get their truck started and would not be picking up my things until the next day. Ok, I thought.

Maybe that's out of their control and the following day was still within their estimated time frame I was originally given so I didn't make a fuss. The next day the movers were late showing up (I found out later that this was a third party moving company that all around van lines contracts with). Two guys and a giant truck. They didn't know I lived on the second floor (which I had specifically told Daniella).

And they didn't know they would be moving any boxes. Despite my thorough inventory via email plus verified with Daniella over the phone. Come to find out later that she "forgot" to ask me if I was moving with boxes. Who doesn't have boxes when they move?

So the two guys inform me that the price is 1000 dollars more than my estimate because of the space all the boxes are going to take up in the truck. Fine, I think. Honest mistake. Also, I had no time for a plan B.

Just pay the money and don't fuss. So the two guys spend SIX HOURS moving all of my stuff into the truck. Not their fault. There's only two of them but oh my god send a third guy.

It felt like it took forever (I moved places when I was living in Chicago and it took three guys four hours to move out of my old place and in to my new place). Then the movers tell me they have no record of my expedited order. I show them on my receipt where I paid an extra 600 dollars and they basically shrug their shoulders and tell me I need to call the company, that they don't know anything about it. Fine.

All my stuff is packed. They leave. I get in the car to drive to Minnesota. That was Saturday.

Sunday I call all around van lines to confirm that I had paid extra for an expedited service. The girl who answers the phone directs me to "dispatch" and no one answers the phone there. I call the girl back and she says I need to call back on Monday because maybe no one is in the office over the weekend. Strange, I think.

But ok. I call on Monday and get redirected to dispatch. They don't know what I'm talking about when I say I paid for an expedited service. I am informed that they don't even offer an expedited service and I need to contact whoever told me I could have my stuff within three days.

So I call all around van lines back and the girl who answers the phone refuses to transfer me to Daniella. It's literally against their policy. She keeps telling me "the broker doesn't have access to your account once your things are picked up". So I send an irate email to Daniella and, low and behold, I get a phone call.

She can see my account. She takes responsibility for forgetting to ask me about how many boxes I had. Apologizes but does not offer any kind of refund or compensation. At this point I just want my things delivered before I start work the next week so I don't make a big deal about the underestimation of 1000 dollars.

She says she will contact the dispatcher personally and I will get a call from them that evening. She tells me she will take care of this. I foolishly believe her. Tuesday I call back all around van lines because I hadn't heard from the dispatcher Monday night.

I get through to Daniella who seems surprised that I have not received a phone call from dispatch. She assures me my things will arrive Wednesday at the latest. By now I have figured out the direct number to the dispatcher so I call them and they say they will contact me 24 hours before the movers will arrive. Basically they have to tell me on Tuesday if they are going to arrive Wednesday.

The lady at dispatch, Phyllis, tells me I'm not scheduled for drop off on Wednesday. I try to explain to Phyllis that I paid for three day expedited service. She again claims they do not offer that service. I ask what about my six hundred dollars that I paid to have my things delivered within three days?

She says it will be refunded if it's not there by Thursday. I ask her to explain how "delivery within three days" means they pick my stuff up on Saturday and drop it off Thursday. She says "well, it means three business days". I said, again, how is Monday through Thursday three business days.

She snaps at me "I don't make the rules" and hurried off the phone. Tuesday ends with no confirmation they are coming on Wednesday. Wednesday ends with no confirmation they are coming on Thursday. At this point I'm starting to worry that I'm being punked.

Or that they have lost my stuff and are just stalling to see if they can find it before I figure it out. Thursday I call Daniella who assures me my things will be at my house by the beginning of the weekend. At this point I accept that I have no control. Phyllis actually sympathizes with me this time when I call her, saying that the brokers (Daniella) make these deals they can't confirm and leave people in the lurch like this.

Great, well now at least I know whose fault it is. Which doesn't make my stuff materialize. Friday morning I get a call that the movers will come Saturday. (I'm starting work on Monday so now instead of five days to move in to my new place I'll have one.

Fine, I think. Worse things have happened) Saturday they show up around noon, again only two guys. I have them just bringing the stuff in and setting it down so I can put everything close to where it belongs. They're finished moving everything in but I ask them to put the beds back together.

The movers in Chicago had taken them apart and in the contract I have it says that they will take apart furniture and put it back together. They guys say they don't have any tools to put the bed back together. They're going to go to Home Depot to buy some and be back in a little bit. Fine.

So I start putting things away. Two hours later not a word about it so I call one of the movers. I ask if he is coming back. Also I have noticed some items missing and I'm wondering if he has them (a big mirror, floor lamp).

He says his boss asked him to run another job in the mean time and that he will be back over with my mirror but that the floor lamp is gone and he has no idea where it might be. So he comes back to my place three hours later with a different dude and they put one of the beds together so I can have somewhere to sleep that night. I ask them to leave. I'll put the other bed together.

It's 7:30pm when they finish and leave my house.

IN ADDITION- so many of my boxes were dented, stained, split- like someone had kicked my stuff down the stairs. My guest mattress has a mysterious stain on it which is odd considering that i bought my own mattress bags and packed them up myself. If this site will let me post pictures I will. Dishes broken, missing items.

My high school yearbooks somehow got wet and by the time I got to them they had mold all over. Completely ruined.

It has taken me several months to write this review because I was so upset.

Please never use this company. They made the already stressful situation of moving to a different state completely hellish.

AVOID THIS COMPANY

These guys are the most corrupt, unethical company I have ever dealt with. They would not honor their binding in home estimate they provided even though we did not add a single item after the inspection. In fact, items were actually thrown out and a car and SUV were packed for our drive down. Of course, once they had our belongings and threatened to not deliver and could not guarantee safely storing, we had no option but to pay additional.

Then, the claim to use a "secure, monitored and environmentally safe" storage facility. We had multiple boxes arrive soaking wet along with furniture, lampshades, throw rugs etc. They had been wet for so long that the wood warped and items had mold all over them.

Then, the actually hired high school kids off of craigslist to unload our belongings in NC. The kids had no idea what they were doing and had never performed a move before in their lives. They even told us the story of how the got hired, how they were being paid under the table etc. They dropped boxes full of dishes, slid boxes across our wood floors, dropped dressers going up the stairs, banged into almost every wall in the house, cut into our furniture with box cutters etc. What does the company say about this?? They claim that they can hire whoever they like to perform the move. And somehow the laws actually protect them. And the 3rd party claims process is just an extension of the company. You will go through the process, get next to nothing if you decide to settle.

If your experience has been similar to ours, the only thing I ask is that you please contact the Illinois AG Office- Lisa Madigan and report this company. Unless we all speak out, they will continue to ruin peoples lives and belongings.

FRAUDULENT PRACTICES-AVOID

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

This company is a complete fraud. Our experience...

We were given an "in home binding estimate" of their employee spent over an hour in our home inspecting everything that was to be packed and moved. Per even their own website, "binding estimates are our way of guaranteeing your price. No hidden costs, no last minute changes, guaranteed!" Two days prior to the move the reached out and asked if there were any changes to the inventory. We told them that nothing had been added and in fact, we would be filling a car an SUV to drive to our new home so it would definitely be less. Halfway into the move, the foreman realizes the estimate is off and he calls the office. They confirm we have a binding in home estimate so they load everything up. Within two days, we begin to get daily calls demanding that we pay additional money or they would not be able to schedule our delivery or guarantee storage. After two weeks of calls, we finally give in. FRAUDULENT PRACTICE #1.

Then, we were told our belongings were to be put into storage until we were ready for delivery. This storage was to be monitored and climate controlled. Per their own website, "Our 24/7 monitored and climate controlled storage facility is equipped to hold your household goods for as little as overnight or as long as a few years!" On delivery day, we discover boxes that are soaking wet, clothes and wood frames that have mold on them since they had been wet for so long, furniture swollen to the point they are ruined etc. On top of that, 14 boxes of our belongings were stolen and to this day, still have never been returned!!! Some much for secure and climate controlled storage. FRAUDULENT PRACTICE #2.

Finally, on delivery day, we notice young kids are unloading the truck and moving the items into our house. We start to talk to them and they confirm that they were actually high school kids hired off of craigslist to unload the truck. These kids had no idea what they were doing. They were never trained, didn't work for the company, never background checked, drug tested etc. They dropped boxes of dishes on the floor which shattered, dropped dressers going up the stairs, banged into all of our walls, pushed boxes and furniture across our newly coated wood floors scratching them all up etc. They even used box cutters to unwrap the furniture and put it into place. Well, they didn't know how to use them. They cut the furniture, sliced into our leather chair and even slit our mattress right down the middle. When confronted, we are told "they can hire whoever they like to perform their moves." We were promised professional movers. Emails indicated all of their out of state movers worked for the company 2+years. They are all trained, drug tested, background checked etc. Even their website states the same. FRAUDULENT PRACTICE #3.

You want get relief through the 3rd party claims process as that is just an arm of the company. Best you can do is continue to report these fraudulent practices to the Illinois AG's office and inform others on review sites like this.

Easy Move

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

They were hands down the most professional movers I have ever had. I really can't say how impressed I am.

They were super professional and courteous the entire time. They actually made it look easy, which brought my stress level down a few notches. Also, they had all the proper tools to do the job right and protect my belongings.

In the end, they got my things into my new place with ease, without any issues whatsoever, and at a very fair price. I have no plans to move for another couple years or so, but there is no doubt I'll be calling on All Around Van Lines when that time comes.

DO NOT USE! Deceptive practices

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Worst moving company ever, with fraudulent business practices. I paid for a premium move, and was promised a move with my own moving truck unless an identical move was occurring with another customer on an identical timeline.

I was also assured that no subcontractors were used. Upon delivery, another company arrived to complete the move, who admitted to being subcontractors. More importantly, my truck was shared with three or four other people's belongings, some of which were brought into my home. They movers admitted they never use a truck for a single person, and they were taking the other belongings all over the country.

I was inclined to let it go, until several weeks later, a BED BUG infestation developed in my brand new apartment (which had never had previous tenants)! All surrounding units were checked and did not have bed bugs and I have never encountered them anywhere I have lived. In short, don't use this company.

I've used other movers before and the experience was night and day. Buyer beware.

BE CAREFUL WITH “ALL AROUND VAN LINES IN SKOKIE IL”

BE CAREFUL WITH “ALL AROUND VAN LINES IN SKOKIE IL”

On July 19th 2016 my 76 year old mother was sent a contract to move a small amount of furniture (they charge by the pound. In this case it was about 2800 lbs) from Minneapolis to Florida on August 29th.

The agent she spoke to was AJ Morgan from “All Around Van Lines” located in Skokie IL. Today August 2nd she called to give them her down payment. When she called a lady named Tanya Singer told her they made a mistake and added approximately $500.00 to the price but said she would discount it about $200.00 because of their mistake. Bottom line is the contract went from $1895.00 to $2200.00.

That’s after giving her a discount for their mistake! My mom called and told me the situation. I called and spoke to a lady, I don’t recall her name (lucky her) but got nowhere with the issue. A manager called me by the name of JJ or J Johnson if memory serves me and explained that they made a mistake but was not willing to do anything about it.

His final remarks to me were “why don’t you go get someone else to move your mother stuff, followed by.. probably one of the twenty quotes you got!” We most definitely will. Here is the funny part, my mom only called them, really! I’m not sure if they use a bait and switch approach to business but it felt that way.

They appear to send out low bids and when they get a customer calling to book they up the price. But that’s just my opinion. Be careful with this company and read the small print.

They also can charge if they move the furniture too far or up a staircase. Again, BE CAREFUL WITH “ALL AROUND VAN LINES IN SKOKIE IL”

DO NOT USE ALL AROUND VAN LINES!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

All Around Van Lines (AAVL) moved friends of mine from Minnesota to Pennsylvania. My friend contacted this so called PROFESSIONAL outfit, The AAVL sales person said it would take A TRUCK AND 3 GUYS ABOUT 2 HOURS TO LOAD AND ABOUT 2 HOURS TO UNLOAD, AND COST $2400.00 AND TAKE 2 - 4 BUSINESS DAYS TO GET THEIR STUFF MOVED TO PA. When my friend’s husband made the arrangements he told the salesperson that they might have a couple extra boxes that he did not inventory at the time. The sales person said there wouldn't be any extra charge. WRONG!!!.

Long story short we had moved my friend’s stuff from their home to a friend’s basement to store for a month until they could move in at Pa. Used a PROFESSIONAL local mover, it took a truck, 2 men and 3 hours to load, drive and unload.

On the pickup day (June 28) AAVL told my friend’s wife that they would be there to pick their stuff up between 2 & 5 PM. AAVL showed up around 3:00 (OK). The so called PROFESSIONAL movers argued that the stuff would not fit in their truck. My friend called the AAVL office and a second truck was dispatched. It arrived around 6:30. My friends had four small boxes and a stroller that was not on the inventory, the movers said it would cost an extra $2500.00 to move it. The so called PROFESSIONAL movers of the 2 trucks argued for a half an hour about loading the stuff before even lifting a finger to move my friends stuff onto the trucks. It took 6 guys (arguing the whole time) 4 hours to load the stuff that was already in boxes. (11:30 PM). Which at that time the movers told my friends it will take 10 - 15 business days to move their stuff to Pa. That AAVL would notify my friends 24 hours before delivery of their stuff in PA. Side note, AAVL failed to load 2 boxes that were on the inventory.

Ok it's an 18 hour trip from Minnesota to Pennsylvania. That's 3 (6 hour days). Why the *** does it takes 15 days? I don't know.

So my friends have been living in their new home for 21 days with out there stuff. They only cloths they had were in their suitcases and the portable crib for their son. My friend is 8 months pregnant and had to sleep on an air mattress which didn’t work out for her so they had to buy a new bed.

21 days later (June 20) at 2:30 pm on a Sunday, AAVL called that they were going to deliver my friends stuff between 8:00am – 12:00pm the next day. AAVL told my friends they would have pay AAVL in cash or a postal check before the movers would unload their stuff.

AAVL showed up at 11:55. The Driver of the truck said do you have the $2500.00. I can’t do anything until I’m paid. My friend paid him. While backing up their truck to where they were going to unload the driver hit a parked car. At that point the driver told my friend that he wasn’t going to try to get any closer to his house so it was going to cost him more money. My friend told him he had already paid almost $5000.00 to move and was not going to pay anymore.

AAVL sent 2 guys, a driver and a helper. The driver refused to help unload the truck, so my friend had to help the other guy unload the truck.

Two of their bookshelves had been destroyed. A desk had *** in it. The coffee table was splintered. Boxes that were marked as “fragile” which had glassware and dishes were crushed and bent, most of the contents broken. Three boxes of books had come unpacked and spilled onto the pavement.

AND THEY CALL THEMSELVES A F'N PROFESSIONAL MOVING COMPANY! THEY ARE NOTHING MORE THAN A BUNCH OF RIP-OFF ARTISTS. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!

I took vacation to help my friends move to Pennsylvania. I drove one of their cars out for them. I was going to help them move their stuff into their new home, but thanks to AAVL that didn’t happen! So now my friends (one who is 8 months pregnant) had to do it themselves.

PS: My friends are my daughter and her husband.
