Alfano's Torrington Hyundai, in Torrington CT has NO care or concern for loyal customers of 20 years. Have purchased 4 brand new vehicles from them and had them all dutifully serviced there. Recently had a very traumatic and near CATASTROPHIC event following a front end service for tie rods and ball joint where afterwards I kept hearing a noise in the driver's front end. Called and returned to the service department several times (along with having to return for an oil leak that wasn't done right the first time as well). Was told a loose axle nut was discovered and tightened and repeatedly reassured the car was safe to operate. Kept making me feel crazy and apologetic for insisting something wasn't right. A day later, driving out of state, horrible noise and wheel completely sheared off my car while in operation. They did tow it back and completed the repairs and body work, but had my SUV for a month. At first admitted total fault of mechanic who over torqued the wheel nuts which caused all the lug nuts to shear off. We told them we wanted a full written report of what happened, which we did not receive. Was also promised the vehicle would be "extensively" road tested to ensure it's safety, but only had less than 5 miles put on from when it was towed. Service manager tried to lie, but was "busted" when I told him I had the receipt from the first tow operator. The he became insulting and back peddled his admission that it was their fault. Tried to contact the GM who never returned our call. Spoke with one of the family members I personally know who is instrumental in the business, but still nothing was done. Have written a letter to the owner of the dealership, and a week later has not responded and I'm sure has no intention to. Body work is totally amateur, Paint is poor quality, plus burs left along edge of door. Can only hope and PRAY that the mechanical work is sound. They have made light of the fact that I could have been killed or seriously injured or caused damage or harm to another. They are lucky they are not liable for hundreds of thousands of dollars in loss, yet the service manager nickled and dimed everything and kept relating how much the repairs were costing. Very unfortunate as I love my Santa Fe. It's the second one I've purchased, but now I have NO confidence in it or especially the dealership and the next closest location is not particularly convenient. A shame, as I still have 3 years and almost 50 K left on my warranty. :-( :-( :-(
