I've been with ABQHP for three years. I'm done.

It's been nothing but a nightmare. I'll spare you the long detailed story. But I had a broken shoulder with ABQHP and surgery for the shoulder with Lovelace, and then 18 months I had a broken arm and shattered wrist which was treated by UNM Ortho Clinic and the surgery was done at UNMH -- and the difference in medical care was the difference between night and day. Not to mention that just getting ABQHP to treat you if you have a real problem IS a real problem.

I'm just fortunate the I didn't get an infection from ABQHP and Lovelace.

UNMH gets a bad press -- I don't know why. Can't get better medical care anywhere in New Mexico.

Dangerous OB-GYN Practices and Botched Services and Neglect

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I went to see a OB-GYN last year for a routine PAP and to get help with my horrible menstrual cycles and pain, requesting a hysterectomy. After the initial PAP was done, I was informed that I had a Fibroid that needed a biopsy, which she did.

Then she informed me she would not do a hysterectomy unless it was a "LAST RESORT", even though I have had horrible problems with my womanly parts, to put it mildly. If I described to you the issues it would make you ill! Plus, with these issues I also have terrible pain that would put me in bed screaming and absolutely miserably squirming. I cannot even describe the pain and details, it was so bad.

I am not sexually active and I'm disabled too. So instead, she gave me Norethindrone 5mg tablets to take every night, even though I protested adamantly. Those have given me all new issues like severe headaches, major irritability, more cramping and pain, and even though I have not had one period since I began taking them, I'm almost constantly slightly pink spotting, so I have to wear a pad ALL the time. The reasons I am protesting and requesting the hysterectomy, is because there is a family history of these female issues, and some family members were able to receive the procedure, which improved their quality of life enormously, when others, such as my mother, was refused the surgery, she ended up developing cancer during her menopause phase, and it ended up killing her.

It began in her ovaries and spread everywhere. She was on an estrogen patch during menopause, which is believed to have caused the cancer. Anyways, After she did the painful biopsy, I remember her commenting " Oh, there's blood. It will be ok".

I didn't think much of it at the time, but now I think she did something wrong. I was in Pain for several days after biopsy, but that was expected and thought to be normal, however, a couple of months later, I began having pain in the area of my urethra and the soft tissue of my ***, it seemed to be infected and was very painful. I attempted to contact Dr. Vicky Peng, the OB-GYN I saw, but received no response.

I attempted again, and still no response. I cared for the issue myself, the best I could by cleaning the area every time I went to the bathroom and since it seemed to be topical, I put neosporyn on the area, which is when I noticed that the soft tissue of my *** seemed to have been cut, like someone literally cut a 14 inch snip. I knew this was not at all right, but continued to care for the infection and try to contact Dr. Peng.

This issue came up several times over the last year, and each time I had to treat it myself, as my attempts to contact Dr. Peng went unanswered. Then, I attempted one last time about two weeks ago, after I had another flare up infection that caused me tremendous pain. I got a call last week.

ABQ Health Partners informed me that Dr. Peng is no longer with them and has gone to Lovelace and tried to refer me over there. I refused at this point because I didn't want to see Dr. Peng again, and I'm with ABQ Health Partners.

I explained what was going on, and they set me up an appointment with Dr. Leard. I went to see her yesterday, and she asked some questions, took some notes, and treated me like the plague! I got referred to Lovelace to have a surgery consult for the hysterectomy, which I'm grateful for, I think, but when I asked her to look at my issue, she refused.

This is horrible medical practice and I am very upset that she didn't even look at my issue. She said "the doctors at Lovelace I'm going to see can deal with that." What if there is something seriously wrong that needs attention right away? I could end up having something horrible happen to me.

I'm literally getting infections and having issues RIGHT NOW that need to be dealt with.

I went to see Dr. Leard to check this out, as well as the second opinion. She blew me off and acted like she didn't want to deal with me at all. I have never seen such an irresponsible practice such as ABQ Helth Partners Gynaecology Department.

I don't trust anyone in this department and I feel like they don't know what they are doing, and they are endangering women. I am frightened at what's next. I just really don't know what to do.

Please put a stop to the horrible treatment, or lack of treatment that is going on at ABQ HP Montgomery Gynaecology Dept. I'm not at all happy.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

My father Paul Sanchez had an appointment at the Carlisle location, for a follow-up to hip surgery 3 wks prior, he is 82 yrs. old.

We live in Torreon, NM approximately 60 miles away. On our way to appointment my cars transmission blew. A nice young lady at Firestone gave us a ride. We arrived 12 minutes late.

I explained our situation. We were turned away. My father was in pain and could barely walk. Many appointments we have waited up to 45 min to be seen.

Leaving me to wonder is Dr. Jerald Loy's time more important than a patients? Obviously! A elderly gentleman heard our situation and gave us a ride back to our car.

It was very difficult getting my father back and forth. At one point I borrowed a chair from a business, sat my father on the sidewalk to wait for a tow. All because we were 12 minutes late.

We will never do business with Albuquerque Health Partners and my father has changed doctors. I only wish no one has to go through what we did.

In a nutshell, I'm a 52 year old man who has been treated for hypertension and osteoarthritis for over twenty years due to sugeries with both shoulders, my left knee, my left ankle, and my right hand.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I am on three blood control medications, over the counter nexium for gastric reflux, ibuprofen for inflammation of my osteoarthritis, and oxycodone for the extreme pain of my hands, feet, and spinal column.

My primary passed away and I was to see Dr. Stengal about the change of physicians as I am paying $1500.00 dollars more a year with the PRN that writes me a prescription once a month.

I have Medicare presently as I am disabled from the disease, with a substantially limited income. Without ever knowing me, or my complete diagnosis, Dr Stengal came into the room and preceded to tell me I was to get weened off the oxycodone because of my potential for addiction and abuse, even though I show no signs of either, and have been on this regiment, which works after 20 years of trying every other drug. I told him I just wanted a primary caretaker, not a change of medication which works best for me. He said he couldn't help me.

What bias, ignorance, and a *** beside manner for a just met professional, an M.D. who has a beaurocratic degree, not a medical one.

AHP DERMATOLOGY has without a doubt, the rudest staff I have ever dealt with. 40 minute wait to be seen by an NP that was pissed off at life and proceeded to take it out on me.

When I expressed my concern for the wait time, she proceeded to tell me " you're lucky today! We are usually 1 hour behind"

Never even introduced herself. I went in for a full check over due to a family history of skin cancer and she was finished looking me over in less that two minutes. They are more concerned about getting as many patients through their doors than they are in providing decent patient care.

Two months I waited to be treated like *** by some uptight, pinch faced angry little nothing of a woman.

I walked out on her as soon as she told me that she was going to do a shave biopsy on my forehead. I asked her what that involved and she looks at me like I'm a complete *** and says in her nasty tone of voice " I shave it off...you're going to have a permanate scar" no thank you!!!

Wrong heart prescription and no antibiotic prescription given.

In Feb. I was admitted to Westside Hospital with pneumonia and sepsis.

I was very sick and stayed for 11 days, the hospital did a good job. My complaint is the ABQ Dr. Haarhues who dismissed me knew I still had some pneumonia as he said so but when my husband signed me out and we left the hospital and turned in prescriptions to drug store there was no antibiotic given and he wrote the wrong prescription for my heart meds, one a day but should have two a day. The Pharmacist called because he knew it wasn't right and could have been dangerous.

Since this doctor works for ABQ they just pop in and out of the hospital. Needless to say I had to wait two weeks to see my doctor and get lung X-ray and I have had it for 2 months now!

Botched Job (its all about the money)

In 2012 I went to get a second opinion regarding my reconstruction options post a mastectomy (breast cancer). I informed the doctor that I had been told I only have one option and it was best that I loose weight first so that my breast would not shift.

The ABQ Plastic Surgeon informed me that he could do the procedure and looked at my body and did photos etc. He discussed that I had a risk of bleeding out and set me up to give my own blood - but never discussed the entire procedure and frankly I am embarrassed to say I really did not know what to ask. Before leaving I was encouraged me to do lots of sit up and stated it was because that muscle needed to have lots of blood flow because that is what would be used to rebuild my chest walls. They wanted to schedule the surgery very quickly which made me nervous - so I got them to schedule it further out; giving me time to mentally prepare.

This is such a long story but to cut to the chase - I had the surgery and ended up with two bacterial infections all because no one would listen to me when I told them I had an infection (I know my body). I dehissed the entire front of my body was open (both breast and abdominal). Although I smelled like 10 dead rats when i first went to see the doctor - nothing was done until my wound vac stopped working because the infection was so thick (looked like baby ***). I had a total of four surgeries and had to build up strength to walk again.

Then when I ended up with a hernia the doctor still would not listen. So I had to have another surgery - so five surgeries in less than a year. Needless to say I learned so many things during this process about DOCTORS and MONEY and INSURANCE and CYA! I wanted another doctor but when I was finally taken to the ER from the Nursing Facility - the plastic surgeon refused to take my case because as he put it "only the doctor knows where everything was put' so that made me a little afraid to keep searching.

I must mention that my plastic surgeon was furious to learn I demanded to go to another hospital and even told my family member after she spoke with him about not securing my wounds after the initial surgery and thats why I dehissed! The doctor told her I know I was fat before I had the surgery!

Well to end this very long note - I know that this doctor did this to two other people other than myself and I am just finding the courage and the strength to address this issue. I pray before anyone (especially those who have survived cancer ) has plastic surgery at ABQ that the read this note and check other complaints etc.

Albuquerque Health Partners Pain Clinic Doesn't Care.

I have been seeing the pain clinic for five years now. I have degenerative disc disease and spinal stenosis.

Recently, doctors have been bailing from this clinic like rats from a sinking ship. Doctor at pain clinic asked me to see my primary care physician to fill the prescriptions for my pain meds. I asked him, and he said he couldn't because of the agreement I had to sign with pain clinic. So, I called the pain clinic to refill my meds.

The doctor at the pain clinic decided to give me a prescription to wean me off. In a nutshell, stay away from Albuquerque Health Partners, because they don't care about you or your well being.

I agree totally during my first appointment with the CNP, NOT Dr Malizzo as my PCP requested, she was in and out of the office on 4 different occasions "consulting" with the Dr. If I am that complex then let me see the dr, not the rude CNP who attempted to bully me into taking their narcotics and steroid injections, which I can not take due to diabetes and what steroids do to my blood sugars.

And get this.....I am employed by these yahoos!

Guest

Yes I agree! I have been to this so called pain clinic, but instead of helping they increase your pain.

BE WARNED THE MAIN FEMALE DR THERE RECEIVED HER MD FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF THE CARRIBEAN!!! She is very uncaring and will dismiss you like garbage!

So I would also tell people to stay away..... YOU VE BEEN WARNED!!!

Guest

I agree and this is very true. I was in a bad wreck, was hit by a drunk driver while on the back of a motorcycle, and I have a large amount of healed fractures, including an amputation that actually happened at the scene and they just put back what they could, leaving me with a two inch shortness to my femur, a plate and bolt holding that together and a messed up knee that doesn't bend, a pelvis that was split in half and viced back together crooked that left me unable to ever walk straight again or even sit, lay or stand straight.

Plus they chipped bone off the back part of my pelvis to try to stimulate growth in the leg, but that didn't work and only left me in more pain. i have many other fractures that happened as well. I eventually, after being crooked for so long, have gotten root nerve impingement, degenerated discs, scoliosis, my hand and wrist (also had fractures) have developed osteoarthritis and some bone overgrowth or something(not sure of medical term) and my shoulders and arms have arthritis, tendonitis, bursitis, etc. etc..

Ultimately this has left me in a severe case of chronic intractable pain, which is enough to just make you not want to live anymore without some kind of relief. The entire Pain Clinic system is on a mission to just get everyone off medications that help pain. This is actually illegal and they cannot do this. the reason they are doing this is the laws that are now being given to them by the board, due to the idiots who are overdosing by not taking what they are supposed to, or illegally getting these medications.

Instead of taking it on a case by case basis, they are just taking everyone OFF. There is hope for us all though and I have started a campaign to make this nonsense stop. There are people in legitimate pain who need these medications to live their everyday lives, and it is in our rights to have these medications. Fortunately for me, I know the law.

There is something called "The Pain Relief Act" and other guidelines and rules that doctors must follow. they can be in trouble for undertreating, just as much as for over treating. You need to know your rights and you need to join the fight to make change. I started a petition that you all should sign a couple days ago on change.org, https://www.change.org/p/fda-gov-help-medical-professionals-stop-making-pain-patients-suffer-usda-changes .

You should go sign this petition and then look up your rights!!

The NM Pain Relief Act and the NM Medical Board Guidelines For Physicians Prescribing Opioids clearly state that as patients in severe pain, we have the right to get these medications prescribed to us and that they can get in trouble with the board if they do not prescribe for people in legitimate pain with recorded proof of the reason for the pain. FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHTS!!!

Centenial insurance treated poorly

my spouse was recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia a cronic pain disorder. Dr Periara of the Montgomery office is a Dr.

to several of my spouses family. She has been waiting 4 days for him to give her a presciption or at least a phone call. We as a family notice that he treats private insurance cust. better than the centenial care patients.

I myself was treated and felt belittled by his actions when I chose him to be my primary care physician which lasted one visit because of his attitude and body language. Mean while our family with priv.

ins. gets treated like he is kin.

ABQ Health Partners lies about Tricare coverage

I made an appointment for my 82 year old mother, and verified with the office that they accept Tricare. They said to simply bring her Tricare card in for the visit.

My mother made 3 visits to this office, then I got a call from the office saying they would not accept my mother's Tricare coverage, because she did not have Medicare part B. I asked why they did not tell me this before, and they said that it was our responsibility to cover the charges due to a form my mother signed, saying she would provide payment even if the insurance was turned down.

I asked why they did not tell me that Medicare part B was required, and the said that the policy changes several months ago, and they forgot to tell me this when I called. I will not ever schedule a visit to this company, and will let anyone who asks about them the terrible misinformation they provide, and the lack of concern for patients who suffer from their irresponsibily for their actions.

Albuquerque Health Partners Discriminates Against Patients Who Are Harmed By Doctors

ABQ Health Partners fired a doctor for sexual misconduct with at least two patients. There is an open lawsuit in district court that is public record and anyone can view it in downtown Albuquerque.

ABQ Health Partners should request that doctors undergo a psychological evaluation to see if the doctor is mentally fit to practice medicine. ABQ Health Partners put patients at risk because this doctor was exploiting a patient for 2 years and they did nothing. ABQ Health Partners did not encourage their employees to come forward and report this doctor when they knew he was sexually involved with a patient. ABQ Health Partners employees had to know what was going on during that time, because this doctor is a predator and he had to tell others about his behavior that worked with him.

ABQ Health Partners put the second patient at risk because they should have known about the first patient, if they trained their employees properly to report such conduct, other patients would not have been at risk from this unethical and immoral doctor. ABQ Health Partners puts patients at risk. It is the obligation of the employees and other health care professionals to report such conduct immediately to prevent patient abuse. It is the obligation of the patient to report doctors who abuse patients.

If you or anyone else you know have been sexually exploited by a doctor during the years of 2007-**** by doctors from this company, please come forward and report it to the state board of medicine in New Mexico. Do not allow a doctor to get away with this behavior. Reporting him will prevent further abuse to other patients. Your name will never be released to the doctor.

Research has shown that women and children are the largest group of patients that are sexually exploited by male doctors. The physical and or emotional trauma is detrimental to the health of the patient. We need to help one another and prevent this type of abuse by reporting it to stop it. Please courageously come forward to help other women and children.

ABQ Health Partners does not take responsibility for the harm they cause patients.

Don't trust ABQ Health Partners doctors or the insurance company. Refuse to do business with them.
