Care should not be part of this company’s name!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

There are many four letter words that should be there but care and compassion should not be associated with this company! Nursing staff would repeatedly say or make derogatory comments in the presence of the patient under their care.

Required supplies ordered through the company would be weeks late although supposedly ordered in plenty of time to avoid running out. Needless to say we ran out on many, many occasions. The care plan would be updated or drastically changed without discussion with the family. If we called to discuss always got a voice mail and return call if returned would be days later.

Poorly managed and unqualified nursing and occupational therapy staff!

The only positive aspect of this company was the physical therapist we were assigned. She provided excellent care and service!

Management

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Was hired in April. Went through 12 weeks of hospice orientation.

Was to start home health orientation, but was kept with hospice. Management and clinical managers did not help the field staff.

Would get several calls during day while driving or in patients homes to call doctor for an order, or to call pharmacy. I was under the impression that was something clinical managers could do.

Worst ever experience ALACARE Oneonta,Al

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Worst care ever! Oneonta,Al.

When my Mother in law was starved by them and put her on 7 anti psych drugs told my 90 yr old father in law not to give her water, in 3 days she was non responsive, they lied about doing paperwork for nursing home. We called an Ambulance and the Rn followed my in laws to the Hosp and threatened them that if you put her in the hosp you will have to pay. Tried to talk to Drs and Nurse to prevent admission. She was so anemic had to have 3 pints blood, severe UTI, and extreme dehydration.

She is after 3 days in the Hosp and 2 days in the nursing home eating, drinking, able to get around in a wheel chair etc.

AND ALACARE left her at hime with a catheter also. We are appaled !!!!!!

Patient of Hoover, Alabama Alacare says "Worst experience ever in having Alacare Home Healthcare for 5 years!"

For 5 years, RN sometimes does not follow doctor's written orders, but RN does what they pleased. .

. Sending patient to the local emergency room the very next day after their visit with patient. Also RN uses bad blood pressure cup, administers addition blood pressure medicine without a doctor's order. Also when RN is sick with flu, RN phones patient to go to patient's home.

There are too many other unacceptable instances to write in this review to mention! We did not know at the time about other Home Healthcare options (companies) until recently and the change from this Hoover, Alabama Alacare has finally been made recently.

Incompetence that resulted in my mother's death

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

After my mother fell and hurt her hip was discharged from the hospital alacare was assigned Home Health Care their lack of medical knowledge or concern for Vital Signs LED my mom to go back to the hospital on three occasions the last being a heart attack which caused her death for a couple of weeks her vital signs were 170 over 90 dropping down to 89 over 50 going back and forth and on the day of her heart attack that's what it was reading and they saw it as no concern. If I not had not returned to my mom's home from work to pick up an item she probably would have died at the house I tried to speak to the branch manager in Decatur Alabama all she did was make excuses and justify their lack of action being the vitals didn't flag anything a two year old would know that that was not normal vital signs.

then she said that the occupational physical therapist don't have to know how to take and monitor vital signs they are completely a bunch of incompetent fools. If you value the life of your family member never ever ever use alacare in Decatur Alabama

Alacare - Customer Care Review from Boise, Idaho

I am VERY disappointed with the quality of RN's Alacare Hospice has in their employ! I had to dismiss the first RN who was rude and condescending.

The one I have now is not any better. I told her I would not be disrespected in my own home! I am in the Anniston area, convinced Alacare Hospice hires "nurses" no one else wants! They don't seem to have any compassion.Caring for a terminally ill parent is stressful in itself!

I don't need the added stress of having to tell a so called "professional" how to behave! If anyone knows how to contact the owners of this company, please chime in!

I will NOT recommend Alacare to anyone or use them ever again! I don't have the energy to switch to another agency!

If you really had issues you would have changed companies. This tells people there is something more to the story than is being told.

If they'd pay enough the nurses wouldn't be pissed off every *** day

I'm sorry you've had a bad experience with Hospice. As a Hospice Nurse, it makes my heart heavy, because it should be a beautiful, peaceful and serene experience for you and your loved one.

You should truly consider switching companies and it's only a paper you have to sign to do it.

My suggestion would be to interview different companies before choosing one..! Best of luck to your family and prayers

Your kind reply was very much appreciated! I went with Alacare Hospice again because of all the caring, compassionate care my father received until he passed! This has not been a pleasant experience with my mother and again I do not have the strength to switch to another hospice because I have no help from my sibling and do everything myself, yet I am considering a change!

Alacare Home Care Review

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

This company is the most backstabbing company . The social workers at RMC in Anniston Alabama are in cahoots and they coerce the patients to switch to them even if they are patients of another provider the social workers take bribes from Alacare and they need to be looked at.

Alacare Hospice equals no support

Family used this hospice agency for my Grandma who was dying of cancer. These are very difficuklt, emotional times needless to say.

The employees of this agency from the office in Hoover are despicable. Nurse was very rude, office staff was cold and uncaring, and the list goes on. Multiple efforts to schedule visits for convenience of Grandma were ignored and generally visits were not made at all. AS Grandma became more ill less visits were made and not more.

The woman to give baths came out and talked and rarely even gave bath. Calls to her supervisor were unreturned and nothing was done. Complaint is now with the state though people should beware. The ultimate was when Grandma did pass away the nurse took 2.5 hours to arrive.

No support, made the situation worse at every turn. They still have not addressed this issue to the family, only their attorneys have called to question myself and my Mom as the primary caregivers. They have attempted to get us to sign papers which we have refused to sign.

We are letting the state regulatory agency handle this as we have no meqans to address this ourselves and quite frankly feel threatened by their stgaff and attorneys. We just feel people should know of this agency's actions.

I agree the Huntsville office is the same way. They have a don't care attitude, not good for family support.. it seems there goal was to rush dying....

We have the same problem in Gadsden. We call Beth the supervisor and she careless.

She is very rude. There some lady call Christine which is very rude. We reported and Beth have done anything. I think they just care more for the paycheck they received that the help they provide.

We have few good people we like. Elizabeth, Karen.

They are amazing on what they do. I'm making a complaint to Birgmiham office.

Dear Gcorbin45:

First and foremost, please accept our continuing sympathy on the passing of your loved one. I was very concerned to read that you felt we failed to address your family’s needs.

Specifically, I am disturbed to read that you found our staff members to be insensitive, that your calls to our office were not returned, and that your family’s concerns were not otherwise addressed. I assure you that the shortcomings you described are not reflective of our usual high standards of care.

Since learning of your January 6th posting this morning (Jan 7, 2011), I have spoken with several members of my Senior Management Team and none are aware of what unspecified “staff and attorneys” have contacted you regarding this matter.

Based on the very limited information you posted on January 6th, our Compliance Officer is reviewing our Hoover Office complaint log as well as Medical records for the last quarter of 2010. You may provide her more detailed and specific information directly via our toll free “Help Line” at 1-80*-***-****. If you prefer, this information can be provided to us anonymously via this Help Line.

Again, I am sorry to learn that we did not fully meet your needs and we are committed to addressing each issue you raised, including taking appropriate disciplinary action against any employee whose conduct did not meet agency standards.
