AJRichies camera scam

By far the best price on the internet. HOWEVER ...

I called to confirm order (for camera body only) and they try to sell me their "way over priced" batteries. I decline. Order never arrives and no status updates. I called them and they said it was back ordered and I would receive an email allowing me to repurchase at the same low price within 4-6 weeks.

It is now over 5 months later and I have received no notification. I purposely waited to see what would happen before writing this review. At 8 weeks, I decided the SCAM reviews I read were correct and I purchased my camera from B & H Photo (very happy with B & H). The credit card info I provided to AJRichies became a concern.

Shortly thereafter, I received notification from the credit card company that my number may have been compromised and they issued me a new number.

In all fairness to AJRichies, I cannot confirm they were responsible, but given their business practices and similar SCAM reviews, it would not surprise me. Do yourself a favor and order from a reputable company.

SCAMMED!

BUYER BEWARE!! They are scam artists.

Here is how they work; I placed an order w/ them because they offered the best price for the camera that I wanted. Five days later, I got an email asking me to call them to verify my billing information and the email instructed me to call customer service. The email also stated that If they did NOT hear from me, they would cancel my order!! I have never had a online retailer do this.

I did make the mistake of phoning them to verify my billing address. It turns out that they really did NOT want to confirm my billing address (they never asked about my CC or billing info,) they just wanted to sell me overpriced accessories. Their customer/sales rep was a fantastic and deceptive sales person!! He convinced me that I NEEDED additional and special items for this particular camera that I would NOT be able to purchase at other local retailers.

I ended up being deceived into buying an additional $180.00 worth of accessories from them that I did NOT need!! I checked and KNOW that I was overcharged!!! I feel like an absolute FOOL to have fallen for this companies scam & sales pitch! I will never again purchase from this retailer and can NOT ever recommend them!

If you're considering ordering from Ajrichies, my recommendation is to STAY AWAY.

Don’t waste your time. It's not worth it."

I found their cameras are extremely inexpensive over all. especially the one I am looking to buy which costs $3200 on amazon, but their price is $1999.

What a difference! I knew there were some tricks here. Fortunately I have not started yet. After read your reviews.

I will go for $3200, not the cheap one. Thank you every one

AjRichies, a total scam!

It's rare for me to ever talk bad about anyone, but AjRichies are total crooks and pure ***! I recently fell prey to them, spending nearly $1000 on new high-end digital camera outfit… and ended up getting used camera?! Also, added accessories (spare battery, etc.) were not the high-end name brand I paid for. I should have researched them first. It was not until after I placed order that I did brief web search, only to discover numerous complaints! Like one dissatisfied customer said, they should be shut down.

They used classic scam artist tricks on me (bait and switch, etc.) and I fell for it at first. They were rude and totally unprofessional on telephone, with no customer service skills whatsoever… and I tend to agree with one customer complaint in that it may be a one-person operation (or small team of scammers).

I was FINALLY able to reach them on telephone, requesting full refund, but they tried to *** me even more (tried to sell me a 3-year warranty!). They never e-mailed me back, with refund-return instructions. I filed a complaint against them with Better Business Bureau, and BBB replied right away, saying they were forwarding my complaint to AjRichies?! With that being said, I don't expect any refund… so I'm stuck with camera, leaving option of keeping it or selling it.

AjRichies should be avoided at all costs. Who knows how many people they conned over time? It's a shame they are allowed to operate and continue to prey upon unsuspecting shoppers.

Be aware that they now operate on a different name Ajrichie (without the s)..... They are still scamming people.

Sorry to see yet another consumer fell victim to AJRichies. It's been over a year since I posted my initial comments (see above), and apparently they're still in business.

They should have been shut down LONG ago, and it's a shame they're allowed to remain in business.

Filing complaints with BBB and other consumer protection services proved ineffective as AJRichies did not answer telephone or return calls or reply to messages. I guess the best thing for now is to continue to spread the word and alert other online shoppers.

AjRichies is an unscrupulous business that conducts deceptive business practices. Numerous complaints appear on several consumer-watch websites. Similar complaints have been reported by many customers. Do not do business with them!!! If you are taken in, don’t waste your time trying to deal with them. File a complaint with your bank’s consumer claims department and request a full refund for your credit card transaction. Since phone calls and e-mails are routinely not returned, it is unlikely that they will successfully dispute a customer claim when a bank attempts to investigate a sale and negotiate a settlement.

AjRichies conceals unfavorable terms and conditions of sales on their website. They charge a 15% restocking fee and a 10% fee for refused shipments. A common complaint is that sales people call back customers after an initial sale is made to up-sell accessories that are exorbitantly priced. If this is not accomplished, deliveries are long delayed or do not occur at all. All sorts of excuses are made. Customers who thought they were getting a deal wind up being charged more than advertised prices or get wrong products.

The history of my purchase is revealing in many ways. Over the phone, I was persuaded to purchase a $3,000 “package deal” for a camera body, 2 lenses, accessories, and extended warranties. I naively agreed to the sale without an itemization of prices. An e-mail with a confirmation of the sale and a tracking number was promised, but it was never received. Unlike many other customers, I actually received my shipment in a few days. The shipment enclosed a sales invoice which did not show any unit prices for the ordered items. In fine print at the bottom of the receipt was a 15% restocking fee policy. Another policy was absent that states that incorrect and missing items are replaced, but no refunds are allowed.

At the time of purchase, I was never informed orally or in writing of the restocking fee policy and other terms and conditions of sales that are buried in the website. When the restocking fee for a phone sale was questioned, the policy was justified by explaining that the policy appeared on the website. However, when one looks carefully at the language on the website, it explicitly states that the sales policies apply to website orders. There is no mention of phone transactions.

Several of the delivered items were lacking. The camera and lenses were defective in packaging and were missing items. The camera and lenses were missing original manufacturer’s certificates of warranty. This placed in doubt whether the items were new products and US warrantied. It was evident that the camera body was restocked merchandise that had been resold. Manuals and accessories were missing from the box. Extended warranties that were purchased were not what they were purported to be. Insured replacement and repair costs were limited in amount and accidental damage was explicitly excluded contrary to the representations of the sales person.

I called the company and obtained the unit prices for my order. After accounting for the actual prices of the order and the prices of comparable products on the internet, I determined that I had been overcharged by $700. When I complained that I had been overcharged, an offer was made to adjust the sales price by $700. This was a clear acknowledgement of an overcharge. I refused the offer to the surprise of the sales person. I was intent on not doing business with AjRichies and getting a full refund of my money. I returned the entire shipment and bought identical equipment from Amazon companies to my satisfaction.

When I received a Return for Refund form enclosed with a returned merchandise RMA , I was charged $450 for a 15% restocking fee based on the original inflated price of $3,000 and not the offered adjusted price of $2,300. Interestingly, the language of the form contradicted some of the return policies on the internet. It stated that items that were incorrect or missing things would not be charged a restocking fee. When I last contacted AjRichies on October 29th, they surprisingly promised me a full refund by November 1st. However, I never received it. I then contacted my bank to file a claim.

In the case AjRichies plans to object to my bank’s credit card claim, I sent the bank a 7 page memo with various attachments and 4 unanswered e-mails to document the circumstances of my purchase. My bank credited me immediately after doing an “investigation” on the day I made the claim. I am sure that they had no better luck than I had in attempting to reach AjRichies when I repeatedly called them on different days and was placed on hold for one and half hours before I gave up.

The lesson I learned is always to investigate the reputation of a company before making a purchase. I feel quite safe making purchases on Amazon. They have very good customer support, and they back the sales of the companies that do business on their site. My wish is that someone would warn all potential customers and shut down AjRichies.

AjRichies’s business address is not the place where they actually do business. It’s a storefront in an apartment building in Brooklyn. It can be viewed on Google Maps. The location is obviously used only for shipments to conceal the true business address of the company. This prevents frustrated customers from serving legal papers on the company. An enterprising person in New York would do a great service to many dissatisfied customers by staking out the storefront and following shipment carriers to the actual location where shipments are processed and hopefully where the sales office exists. I am angry that so many people have been hurt by AjRichies.

Sorry to hear you fell prey to them too, and at a huge monetary loss! Last fall I filed complaints against them on this site and others (even with Better Business Bureau), but to no avail. They would not answer calls/return messages from investigators (or BBB), and it appears they're still operating.

They almost got me... Placed order online @ ajriches.***, i mean .com on sunday night, then i noticed in the invoice my email and adress was wrong, although i chromed it in...

So red flag. Then i try to click on any little certified buttons on page like the better biz bureau.... Seen none. Then i thought about checkin the reviews!

Duuuuh! Ran to the bank first thing in the am snatched my money out! They called me around noon from a private number asking me did i make an order i told him yea but i cancled it at my bank! He got an attitude like "why did ya do that" i told em it was sumthin fishy goin on .

He said "well do u still want the camera" i said no and he hung up on me.... They gonna pay fa this!

Total *** outfit, had take pictures of ups delivery box, didn't pen, refused on del. Phone call after phone.

Finally got money back after much hassling. Do not fall for their low prices, buy from B&H photo.

Thanks for your feedback and for sharing your experience... and glad you at least avoided credit card charges.

I had to count this as a loss and purchased same camera (but new!) from a reputable online vendor, one I've done business with for years. Now I'm in the process of selling the used camera I got from AJRichies, at a substantial loss.

I posted reviews/complaints on multiple consumer oriented websites (like this), and AJRichies avoided contact with consumer investigators (refused to reply to e-mail, even hung up telephone on them!). Even my formal complaint through Better Business Bureau will probably yield no results.

Again, it's a total shame a business like AJRichies is allowed to exist... and the word needs to be spread, so fewer shoppers will fall prey to them.

i ordered a canon sx260 after 8 days with out receiving any tracking info i tried calling them i probably called 10 times till the most nasty representative ever picket up the phone and told me they will ship it out in the next 2 days of course after 2 days i still didn't hear from them i voided my credit card they had in file so i should be able to shop somewhere else without worrying that these idiots will charge my card, so everything you sad is 100% true AVOID AJRICHIES A TOTAL SCAM

Lied to and cheated out of my money

WARNING!!! This company is a den of thieves!!!

I ordered an Olympus camera from AJRichies for $325.00. A week later I received a phone call from them saying I needed an $150.00 battery for the camera (I later discovered the battery comes with the camera at no cost). I then was told I needed a special media card for this camera which costs $200.00 (I later found that Olympus sells this same card for $29.99 - and it is not special!). I ended up paying $650.00 for my $325.00 camera, and all I received extra was a $30.00 media card.

I tried to resolve it several ways, but the guy I talked to lied about everything.

Unless you enjoy being ripped off and losing your money, Do NOT do business with this company. I wish I would have read other reviews before I did.

Don't buy anything from ajrichies.com, they are filled with frequent lies.

Don't buy anything from ajrichies.com, they are filled with frequent lies. I placed an order in June 07, 2013 and they called me in June 12 to confirm my order and said that it doesn't include a battery, then said that it could only be used for 5 minutes only.

The real reason is that they tried to ask me buy more products. On June 14, I called and they told that it was shipped on June 13 by Fedex and that they would update the tracking information later on their site. I called today, June 17, and they told me that it hasn't even been processed yet. I requested them to cancel the order with a full refund, and they hold a 15% restock fee ($91.03).

They made me a deal to give me a full refund only if I remove the previous negative feedback I gave them. Don't deal with this shady business!

No camera for discount

I ordered a camera on 6/30 online. I later received an email that said I have to call them to confirm my mailing address.

The first lady left me hold for 20 minutes so I hung up. On the second call they tried to sell me batteries for the camera and when I said no thanks he tried to up sell me to the next model, again I said no thanks. I have sent them emails requesting info about when am I going to receive the camera with no response.

I just recently checked my credit card statement and have discovered that I was never charged for the camera. I would never ever trust these people again!"

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH AJRICHIES!!!!

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!! DO NOT BUY FROM AJRICHIES!!

IT'S A SCAM!!! I recently purchased a camera from them. I wasn't awared I had to separately purchase a battary and charger. Allan, the rep I spoke to, called me and upped my price.

I paid an extra $30 to have my camera expidited to me in time for my Memorial weekend trip that I was leaving on 5/23. I purchased my camera on 5/17, and did not received my camera until 5/24. The $30 I paid was not worth it. Also, I realized some of the items included in my package were not sent to me.

I am missing the USB storage bracelet, Table top tripod, and the card reader. I just called their customer service and have been transferred around a few times or hung up on. I am currently on the phone waiting for Allan, as I have manually entered in his extension of 518, and have been on hold for 16 minutes now.

I will keep the camera, as I do not want to have to go through the hassle of returning it back to them, because I know it will not be done. SCAM ARTISTS AT ITS WORST!!!

SCAM ALERT!

This company is a scam, the prices online are NOT what they will actually charge you. Spare yourself the agony of dealing with one of their rude, unprofessional customer service reps and order from a reputable company.

Just search this company's name in any search engine and read thousands of reviews saying this exact same thing. These are *** artists.

Spoke to someone named Greg, who wouldn't let me complete a sentence without interrupting me with rude, angry remarks.

Had to wait on hold for a very long time only to be hung up on twice. This entire experience was terrible.

AJRICHIES.COM worst e-store ever...SCAM

"Overall, not a bad experience ordering over the phone(HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE---KEEP READING TO THE END). I decided to order over the phone so that I could get the "phone call" part over with(many customers have said they get an email asking to call in and in turn are upsold items before the order is shipped). I put an order in for a Nikon D800, and was explained the difference between what I initially ordered and what would be a better option(grey market vs USA version). I went with the USA version, and then was offered a longer battery(was initially told it was a 1900mha battery, and that it only lasted 1.5 hours....nikon does not rate their battery per hour, rather with shots. Also I did not find anywhere on the web, and trust me I looked everywhere online, all 4 search engines, and did not find extended life batteries). I went ahead and agreed to buy the "5 hour" battery for an extra 44.95(i know *** me). I was told the item was in stock, multiple times, but then was told it would take up to 21 days for it to arrive at my house because of high demand. I didn't get it either. They explained they mail through USPS, and then it gets transferred to UPS in the middle of the transit(i'm guessing it saves them money that way). In the end I was charged almost 3300 for the body(d800), 5 year warranty(originally was 3 but upgraded to 5) and an "extended" battery(they said it was a nikon brand battery, not off brand, but we shall see). The amount started at 2899 and then $169 for warranty and 44.99 for battery, 3117.99 plus 6%(handling and shipping and insurance)for a grand total of 3299. Unfortunately I did not catch them charging me shipping and handling for the warranty. They added the warranty and battery and then added the 6% on top. Sneaky of them. Who pays shipping for a warranty? If they had done it correctly the grand total would have been "3289.99" I know only 10 dollars, but imagine how many sales they have, times that by 10 dollars, and that is extra money in the companies pocket. Compared to B&H, their camera costs 2,999(free shipping), but their warranties are $314(3yr) and $629(5yr), and you are not told when you will be getting the camera, since there is a waiting list. But I heard it was about the same as AJrichies(21-30 days), which makes you wonder, do they really have it in stock? Yes I saved on the warranty, but I have yet to see how reputable the warranty company is. Overall, not a bad expierence, just not so great. I myself wouldn't shop here again(their lenses are overpriced, and other accessories, not to mention nikon brand "extended" batteries might not even exist(I have yet to discover this). I have tried to make this review as honest as possible, and I even told them I would be writing a review after I finished the order, so this is as good as it gets. It is now September 13th as I am writing this review. Once I get my product I will update this review with further details.

Update: 9-14-2012Received an email with the tracking order #. On 9-13-2012 called AJrichies, and was told the camera ships directly from Nikon. On September 13 I spoke to a customer rep and asked what the status of the order was. I was informed it was shipped, not from their warehouse, but Nikons. Also I was informed the 2899 was a retail package and contained a shorter life battery so in exchange, the 44.95 I paid was for the actual battery. So instead of selling the whole package, like everyone else does right away, for 2,999, they(ajrichies) tell you that you need a battery upgrade and in turn you pay 2943. Yes you do save around 50 dollars compared to other stores, so that is a plus. Nikon sells a 2,999 camera on their website, with the correct battery. They(nikon) don't have a weaker battery, or longer life batter. Its all 1900mah, or 900 shots. If you look at their(ajrichie.com) site, they have a lituim ion replacement battery, a extended long life battery, and an extended ultra long life battery. To my knowledge, and after calling Nikon, well there is only one battery. If I am wrong, after all my research, please correct me. On Nikon's site they sell one version of the D800 with the 1900mah battery, and no other version of their battery.

When I receive the camera I will update whether it really was an USA version that I received or not. Also I will see if the battery really is a Nikon brand or some rip off brand. Batteries are a little bit easier to tell. There are 2 ways to tell if your camera is USA version or not: one of them is the serial # starts with a 3.

Update #29-17-****: I checked the tracking status of my order and it shows return to sender. I have not been notified by AJrichies about this, and do not know why. UPS has notified me, that the company is Digital Trading LLC, but no number to get back to. I tried to contact AJrichies, but they are not open, it is 9:47am, and they open at 9am(just noticed that they are closed today and the 18th in observation of Rosh Hossana). Seriously this is dissapointing, and as soon as I updated my order #, this happens. They better have a good excuse. No company has ever done this to me, and this is poor business practice. I know AJrichies.com has read my review, so if they are reading it now, they better make me happy, or else this will not be the last review I write.

Update #3Sept 20 2012I called Ajrichies.com on Wednesday the 19th in reference to the shipment, and why it was intercepted. They explained to me the wrong item had been shipped out(grey market) and since I wanted the USA version, they were going to send me a new one. I called again later on to find out when the new package was going to be shipped from the warehouse. The first call got me transferred to a voicemail. The second call had an immediate discconnect. The third call I was accused of recording the conversation, and they immediately hung up. I was using a voip service to call them, but I was not recording our conversation(even though maybe I should have). The next phone call left me bewildered, but yet relieved. When I finnaly got through, I was told the order was canceled and a full refund was going to be posted the next day. When asked why this was happening they replied it was because I was recording the conversation. The next day(20th) I called at approx 10:45am and inquired when my money was going to be refunded. I explained if I didn't receive the refund, then I would go through my bank and submit a claim, and start an investigation. They replied I would get my refund, and that was the end of that conversation. I called one more time to confirm that my money would be refunded. To my surprise, they told me that they would not, since I had said I was going to submit a claim against the charge, and that from now on, I was to go through the credit card company and retreive my money through that route. The next 10 phone calls either were sending me to voicemail, or immediately hanging up on me the moment I gave them my order number.

DO NOT AND I REPEAT, DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. THEY ARE NOT AN AUTHORIZED RETAILER/RESELLER of CANON OR NIKON PRODUCTS.

IF I COULD GIVE THEM NO STARS, THAT IS WHAT I WOULD GIVE THEM.

AJRICHIES.COM HAS $3299.99 of my money, and is refusing to refund it. Not only is that a huge hunk out of my pocket, but now that i dont have a camera, so my business is suffering. So to summarize all this, I have been robbed of $3299.99 and do not have a camera to show to it. NO CAMERA AND NO MONEY."

AJRichies should be avoided

I ordered a Nikon D5100 for 489. and was charged 648.99 (a 159.

overcharge). I originally ordered the camera with lens, and they immediately called to pressure me into buying an extended life battery for 80 dollars, which I first said ok then called back to cancel the battery as it was available for on third the cost elsewhere. What they sent was a bundle with other things and what they claim was a USA version of the camera, since what they now claimed that I with no English. I have been buying cameras for years and this is *** this is the bait and switch that used to exist when buying photo equipment but was by and largely changed by the advent of Amazon and the likes.

It took me a week to talk to customer service, and they made that I was lucky to get the US version. They offered to take everything back and give me the Malaysian version, but this would open up more problems, as the there is no Malaysian version listed on their site. It is impracticable as I need the camera now. I offered to return the battery and the tripod for a credit of 80.

but they said they upgraded me( without my consent) to the USA model and want it back.

I do not think I would ever see any camera, as i do not trust them and there is no Malaysian model to be sold in the US. You need to stay away from this vendor, as they are very hard to deal with if you have a problem and they are not doing business in an acceptable way(my experience)

AJRichies.com -Fraudulent & Deceptive- AJRichies.com

I ordered the item as a gift for a child and what a disappointment! I found them on the internet and called to ask questions and as discussed with the telephone sales person "Tom", pictured and described below from their website but when I received the camcorder the model is not the same as I inquired about or requested when I placed my order. I asked for and was assured that the order was for the Panasonic HC-V700MK. The item they (AJRichies) shipped is the HC-V700 which does not have the built in memory and is considerably cheaper, and not made for sale in the USA. The camera they pictured on their website and describe is NOT the Camera they send. http://www.ajrichies.com/Panasonic-HC-V700M-Full-HD-Flash-Memory-Camcorder/p-3034?refid=Ibcart . Some reviews said that they ship European products, Grey market items not available in the USA and knowingly and fraudulently "Bait and Switch" products. Furthermore I asked who the extended warranty was provided by and I was told Panasonic yet the warranty card indicates Consumer Priority Service which is NOT Panasonic. Additionally, the extra battery and battery quick charger were also misrepresented and are widely available for $10 and $15 respectively, which is a far cry from their advertised retail price of $189, $129 and $89. Lastly, they advertise the American Express Symbol as a payment option but will tell you that their AMX machine is broken and not able to accept. I have alerted AMX to their scam.

I called and called and emailed this company. Half the time they didn't answer or went straight to voice mail. Every time I asked for a response they promised or said they responded, never receiving anything from them. They lied to me each and every time I attempted to resolve this issue. After 2 weeks of getting nowhere and almost two more weeks of trying to get them to respond, I was told there email was broken. When I spoke to "George" in customer service (they all sound like the same person) and explained that I did not get what I ordered as depicted and described on their Website, discussed and confirmed on the telephone with "Tom," He that I had not been given what is advertised or paid and agreed to send me an RMA with a prepaid shipping label. He said I would have two options, I could return for a full refund or an exchange. When the RMA finally came in my email after several calls and emails to get action, they wanted to keep $103.50 plus I would have to pay for return shipping and they admitted no fault rather trying to put blame on me! I have reported this company to the Federal Trade Commission, the Department of Justice, the BBB amongst other agencies. This company is not reputable and this whole experience has been nothing but a hassle and a night mare.

They operate by a practice of "BAIT and SWITCH."

The accessories they sell are available at a fraction of the price they charge and the products they send you. The Rapid Charger that they advertise at $89 is a Vivitar product (Model#QC-602)available for $15 at many other retailers. The Extended Life 3 hr Battery priced at $189 is a Vivitar battery (Model#B86)available for $10 at many other retailers. The warranty is not the manufacturer warranty as they may tell you, instead it is provided from some company called CPS also located in the same area of NY and comes with a dollar limitation. The tripod and cleaning kit is a $2.99 dollar or E-Bay store item.

DO NOT BUY from this online retailer. I ended up getting what I ordered from Amazon and other venders for less money, fast free shipping and without any hassles! I thought I was saving a few bucks, getting more for a bit less but ended up costing me time, money and hassle! DO NOT BUY from AJRICHIES.COM

AjRichie pulled the same stunts with me. However, during, which I did over the telephone, I captured their web site so as to to be able to confirm that they advertised free shipping, to confirm that I got what I ordered, and so forth.

Sure enough, they sent what I did not order, attempted to overcharge me, laughed at me on the telephone, when I complained, and refused to allow me to return the items. I contacted my Credit Card Company and filed a dispute. I had documented proof because I had a copy of the web site advertising, emails between AjRichie and myself, and pictures of the items that AjRichie shipoped. If you cannot afford consult with an attorney, then Google and read about your consumer state and national rights.Armed with this information, you will know what you can do to enforce your rights.

Credit card companies will get your money returned, if you have proper documentation. All of you need to file a dispute with your credit card company. If may or may not be too late to file the dispute. If the company sends you the wrong item and refuses to allow you to return it, you will not have to pay for the item and you are not required to return it.

Read about consumer law and protect yourself. Don't let Morris and company beat you like this.
