Want to know if they're aware of the bait and switch scam

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • Airfarewatchdog links to affiliate sites with bait-and-switch scams and upsells.
  • A fake confirmation upsells to a higher main cabin price.
Contains 1 confidential file for company representatives

I always thought that Airfarewatchdog was a legitimate way to find low cost airline tickets. I learned today that they are not.

They link to a bunch of affiliate sites and so far, all the ones I have dealt with do the same scam. It's the old bait and switch. You'll see a great flight and price, book it, get to the confirmation page that makes you think you've gotten real tickets through a real ticket company. But no.

Sometimes they'll send an email telling you it's pending sometimes they won't, but I've called and gotten the same spiel. They say you booked in basic economy, but the airline sold out of those and you can book in the main cabin for much much more money! Most of them sound like they're in India from their accent, but one guy was speaking Spanish, so, I'm not sure where they're located, but it's NOT the U.S.A. I have canceled every reservation and haven't been charged, so at least they don't steal my money, but they have my information, which worries me.

The companies I've dealt with from Airfarewatchdog are, travelo1, neattravels, flightfaredeals, and flightschannel.

I'm not doing any more. That was enough for me to confirm the bait switch scam they're doing.

Cons:
  • Third party bookers all do the same bait and switch scam

Preferred solution: Go out of business and remove all of my personal information from any and all databases they saved it in.

User's recommendation: Stay away from Airfarewatchdog. I bet their positive reviews are fake

Surgery scheduled during flight time. Therefore, I need to reschedule the trip to March. I still want to go to Austin, but I need a different date.

They do not monitor their third party ticket providers, and got screwed by "FlightsMerchant.com" and never received a ticket despite an email showing it was "being processed".

Refund request back on Nov. 6th, 2017---still no refund!

AI Highlights
  • Refund for canceled ticket on Nov 6, 2018 not received.
  • Ticket was for Justin Dean Turner-Slavens, Medford to Las Vegas; $188.80 on 11/6.

I would like to know why the supervisor I talked to about my refund still has not gotten back to me. I purchased a ticket for my son on Nov.

6, 2018-7 and had to cancel it. I believe it was the same day or the next day. I was assured that it was canceled and my refund would appear in my account. On my bank statement it says: "11/6 American Air0017021**** Fort Worth TX card" amount of ticket was $188.80.

Last time I talked to a supervisor she said that American Air should take care of it. They disagree stating that I would have to go through the third party that the number above belongs to. Please look into this for me, I sure could use that money back.

The ticket was for my son Justin Dean Turner-Slavens leaving Medford, OR in bound to Las Vegas, NV. Please get back to me.

Thank you

Terrorist propaganda

AI Highlights
  • Criticizes article urging more government regulation.
  • Says taxation and regulation are coercive.
  • Plans to share criticism with a large audience.

I can't believe I used to like this company. They recently put out an article talking about how we need to hire more government thugs to steal money from us so the politicians can "regulate" the airline industry.

*** no I don't want your initiation of violence on peaceful people! Take your government terrorism of threats of kidnapping and violence (taxation) elsewhere! My family doesn't want to threaten to steal from nor kidnap (tax) anybody, nor do I need politicians "regulating" industries. It's communists like these that make it so oligopolizaiton through central planning and regulatory capture happen....

these idiots just lost a subscriber with their government terrorism endorsement and I hope more people stand up against their calls for violence on peaceful people (taxation and regulation). No I will not threaten other peaceful people nor cheer you terrorists on in your threats of violence! Maybe once they stop threatening my family and I with political edicts I can start supporting them again...

I will be posting this review to my facebook page with 200,000 subscribers soon so this company is about to get a whiff of horrible publicity for supporting the use of violence and terrorism on peaceful people like my friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, etc... No I don't want to threaten others with state violence you pigheaded tyrants!!!

Loss:
$1000
Pros:
  • Deals
Cons:
  • Violence ie tax and regulation

Preferred solution: Deliver product or service ordered

This great fare will get you nowhere.

AI Highlights
  • Airfarewatchdog link is referenced, with low-rate details unclear.
  • One-way fare is half price, with an email notice dated 6/2/2010.

I am amused by the advertised airfare at http://www.airfarewatchdog.com/cheap-flights/baltimore-maryland-bwi-to-baltimore-maryland-bwi/?source=nl_type_awd_departure&value=2010-06-02+00%3A00%3A00&r=&h=18f8671a89b3869****cc2675b2ab6e0&n=497****&u=CE9917****&argschk=1#148**** and check where it takes you.

What would we be paying for? The low rate is great but what will I do when I get to my destination.

They charge half as much for a one way trip but I am up in the air as to where that would leave me. This came via an email notice 6/2/2010 from Airfarewatchdog.
