Fake and Outdated

AI Highlights
  • - Daily emails about Section 8 and subsidized housing options.
  • - Listings seem outdated and emails are unanswered.

This place Affordable Housing Online is a total waste of time. It is supposedly designed to keep you informed of section 8 waiting lists and other affordable housing options.

I signed up and set my preferences to only the state of Va. On a daily basis my inbox gets emails and the emails point out places that are accepting applications for either section 8 voucher or subsidized housing. The problem is that none of the listings they provide are legit. I even called some of the places the AHO claims is accepting applications and was told they have not opened any waiting lists in years.

Emails to AHO are unanswered. One place told me that they haven't had the email address I attempted to reach them at in 3 years.

Clearly AHO is giving outdated info and needs to stop wasting the time of people trying to use their site. 4 months of checking their emails and the info they provide therein was a waste of time.

User's recommendation: Don't bother using this site

I concur! They bill themselves as "The largest and most trusted resource for low-income housing in the U.S." Large but far from being accurate.

I received an email notification on Dec. 6, 2024 saying that the Hopewell Redevelopment Section 8 waiting list will be opening on Dec. 9, 2024 and that this information was verified by a HRHA public notice on Dec. 5, 2024.

I set my alarm to wake up at 7:00 AM in order to submit my application as early as possible. When I visited the HRHA website, there was a notice saying they were not accepting applications.

I then checked the referenced verification. Turned out it was a public notice that HRHA would be accepting applications March 1, 2024 to March 5, 2024.
