Overpriced by 30% compared to rest of the schools in DFW area, poor customer service, incompetent instructors, horrible experience. Complete waste of time! "Instructors" are retirees who went into teaching scuba diving, so they can afford diving around the world (per his own words). You get treated as if they paid you for something, not the other way around. As far as competence, I am 5'9,240 weightlifter - negatively buoyant, different than 99.9% of the the students they ve encountered. I have dived before (I went to Scuba Adventures for certification), on twice the depth we did in the swamp they train you at, and never had any problems or complaints from other instructors, to come here and some "instructor" to tell me I need to work more ( more than the 4 days) on my buoyancy, considering I had no issues with that it just take me different amount of time to adjust due my negative buoyancy! I am outraged by that school and the instructor I encountered, who is working mostly with kids and apparently have never seen a negatively buoyant person - a "sinker" as they call us at the other places. On top of that that guy makes up rules and exercises which are NOT required by SDI. This is why I wasted over $500 and 4 day of training??? Unbelievable. And this is for Open Water Certificate. Can't imagine what s going to be if you want to go higher with these people. One advice to avoid frustration - don't go there!NAnn

Adventure Scuba in Plano, TX Rip-Off!

Adventure Scuba in Plano, TX charges almost 3X's what it costs to buy snorkeling equipment. Go to Academy! The lady who owns the store aggressively tries to sell! Not knowing any better, I bought some snorkeling equipment from her. She told me I could use her pool to try out the equipment I bought. Then, when the equipment didn't work, she told me I couldn't return the equipment and tried to use the fact that I used her pool against me. It's crazy! I have never had this problem ever returning anything. I wasted a ton of money! That store is a complete rip-off! Don't go there!

I rented here at this company, fair price and they bent over backwards to take care of me. Even to the point I handled most of the transaction over the phone, and they made arrangements to pick up the gear at an odd hour because of my work schedule.

This buyer complaint is overreaching at best, she should stick to big box store purchases for generic equipment. Is there anyone who actually believes that snorkeling gear "didn't work"?

Clearly this is not defective gear, it is a comfort issue or fitment problem with the buyer. No LDS sells a mask without checking fitment, so clearly whatever changed in the two months to create poorly fitting or uncomfortable gear is not the owner's fault.

:cry My only complaint was they do not answer email. So I ended up at Scuba toys good online store and they answer email.

so I am fully certified with NAUI and only partly with PADI ripoff. I started my certification in Belize and could no finish because no PADI shop in Texas would recognize the PADI CARD I already had.

I was the bookkeeper at AS when that woman tried to return her gear. She also left out the fact that the original check she wrote for the merchandise bounced.

She then returned some unused stuff, got her money back in cash (new clerk!) then never made the original check good. Boy, did she get a deal!

You're an ***, you don't deserve to have the power to write reviews until you go to every dive shop in the US. You should be sued for saything things out of context.

What kind of *** thinks you can return used gear reguardless where you go. Guess you try to return cosmetics and underwear too?

Of course you are going to pay more at your LDS than at some cheap online retailer. You are paying for quality + warranty + convenience.

I have been to Adventure Scuba, shopped at their store, and used their pool for my open water dive training. They were nice, knowledgeable, and had good inventory in stock. I'm sorry you had a bad experience, but maybe it was more about your lack of experience using the gear you were trying to by than the shop / gear you were purchasing.

FYI learn proper free diving techniques and the fancy gimmicky snorkels are not relevant. I would rate adventure scuba 5 out of 5 stars (if this website that makes it's living out of hurting small businesses allowed posters to give a rating).

I have been a customer of Adventure Scuba (and it's predecessor Blue Dolphin Scuba) and based on my experience I question this consumer's complaint. Based on the dialogue I would say it is purely Buyer's Remorse. I received my open water certification from Adventure Scuba and use them for the annual service on all my gear.

I have also purchased gear there on many occasions and had no issues with reasonable requests for exchanges or returns.

I highly recommend Adventure Scuba, she runs a good shop.

Lots of "issues" being vented on both sides. Call me crazy, but I've grown a successful business by adhereing to the concept of "the customer's always right" and "give them more than they expect." That said, I've taken hits because of inappropriate customer behavior, but NEVER had instances where anyone even thought about conveying unfavorable reports. You make the call as to what's best for your business.

Hmmm... Let me make sure I undestand what you are trying to tell us. You are suggesting that we should not buy our scuba gear from a professional dive shop. Instead we should by the cheaper gear designed for the kids to use in backyard pools from stores like Academy.

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN SMOKING?

Our lives depend the equipment the we use for scuba. The fact that you even suggested that we buy the cheaper stuff from stores like Academy shows just how ignorant you are. I suggest you stay out of the water until you complete rehab and a basic open water class

Wow, you know that kind of statement, including the fact you made a website about this, is really hateful. I hope you never shop in any store ever again. You're really not telling the whole story. Ya know NO one takes back gear that's been in a pool.

You're leaving out what condition you left in after you got out of the pool. I guarantee you, you were pissed off and tore the gear up and then expected your money back.

You need to stop shopping. These are mom and pop businesses, you really need to think before putting things like this us and how it impacts stores.

This kind of misinformation should be legally actionable.

I had a customer do a similar thing after he took the mask on a trip, his 6 year old chewed off the mask clips, and he wanted us to replace it for free. So he wrote a bad comment as well.

These are the same people that call themselves "good christians" but then will cut you off at the light, cut in line at the movie, ask for free food after they've eaten their meal, leaves no tip.

These are the people that are a drain on the national economy because they are in "me, myself and I mode"

Do you research before you buy and grow up.

#21974

Wow. Let me start by saying that Adventure Scuba is one of the best dive shops in the nation. I have shopped there many times and have always left more than happy.

Do the world a favor before you bash someone else for your own stupidity. You did zero research, you didn't bother to look at the return policy and you think you are in the right? ***, it's pretty hot outside right now, how about you return that down jacket you bought four years ago since you don't need it anymore!

You should return your H2 since you don't really "need it " as well, huh?

Laughable.
