Quoted $500 then charged $3400 - took Advantage of

Advantage Marine Repair quoted our company $500 for a repair stating that it should fix the issue. Then we get a bill for $3400, amazing. They insist that we pay it and when refused, they try to turn it back to us. We are going to sue them but think its important to log this all over the internet as a free speech public service announcement. They cannot do what their names says and take "Advantage" of customers. We are one that will not tolerate it and given other reviews online, we are not the only customer that has a problem with this company.

I decided to google my company this morning because of an issue we have had with one of our customers. I see he has now given us a review on this site.

There is more to the story that he is not telling, way more. We gave him a $500 estimate for the first step to trying to figure out his problem, and we made it clear it was the first step. Unfortunately that did not fix the problem and we called and told him where we had to go from there, he said to go ahead. In the time that we were completing that repair (which by the way fixed the problem), he had given us a list of more items to look at.

What he is mad about is that we billed him for services he requested. He is also going to complain that his battery cables were left connected when we were done with the service. That is true, only because we weren't done looking at and correcting all the issues from the list he gave us. This all took place at the end of 2015, for the two weeks of Christmas and New Years we close the shop so our employees can have some time to celebrate with family.

Prior to this we had told him this was the case, and because we had outside labor (machine shop) that needed to be paid and we needed to pay our employees and other bills, we were going to send him an invoice for where we stand now. That is when he went crazy. In the three months since this his story has changed, his name has changed, and now all of a sudden the boat is owned by a company and not our original customer. No wonder why we can't keep names straight.

We have also found out from the marina where he keeps his boat that there have been similar issues with ***** and other companies. The marina does not care to deal with him, which is why they recommended us at Advantage Marine. Also, there is a local canvas shop that he tried to pull the same thing. "Originally quoted $500 and billed more." Turns out the $500 was a down payment, a down payment everyone of their customer pays and he understood to be such.

He went ballistic on them when he was billed more.

Upon doing more research on this guy he is a class a scam artist. He's notorious for selling pet supply websites saying they will make big money and then not following through. Google "***** ******* Michigan" and you will see all the bad reports.

He will also tell you that there is another ***** ******* from Florida, and he has a criminal record. ITS THE SAME GUY!!!! If you do some more research they are the same age, have lived in some of the same places, and a few other things that I would like to mention but probably shouldn't.

I understand what this website is doing, I don't think its a bad idea, however we have already started the process of taking Legal matters. To add to it, ***** is dodging the subpoena for small claims.

He knows he has to pay this bill, we have laid out the proof to him, we have tried to communicate with him, but he just wont. He has taken to the internet and tried to slander our name over and over again. That is the only reason he posted on here, he won't ever pay you. Besides, the person who submitted this probably isn't ***** ******.

He goes by a number of different names.

So to sum this all up, this man is a crook, borderline criminal. He requests services, understands an estimate to be just that, an estimate.

When you communicate with him he all of a sudden forgets or denies that you had communicated with him, and then he goes and slanders your name, tries to bully you, and eventually hopes you drop what ever it may be that you have against him.

***For good measure I have blocked out the persons name, as much as he has slandered our company we do not feel right about slandering his until this can all be settled in court. This has also been submitted to pissedconsumer.com in almost the same form, if it seems as though this may be jumping around or parts aren't completed that is because I have removed some other details that at this time the world wide web does not need to know.
