Disappointing service a second time

Original review posted by user Jan 10, 2021
I wouldn't recommend Advantage Appliance after my recent service. My husband and I have used them twice. Note you will have to pay a $100+ consultation fee for them to assess your problem and then a separate cost to fix it. The first time was for a repair with our washing machine. The repair person who came out was nice and assessed the problem, however when they sent another repair person to fix it, that individual told the first assessment was wrong. He had the parts and fixed it. It's still working. Our most recent repair would have been a one-star rating. The door closed sensor on our Whirlpool (model WRV976FDEM01) wasn't working correctly and the coldness of the fridge was not what it should be. We called Advantage, they sent someone out to assess the problem, and we were told a tech repair person would be back to fix it. The total for the repair was $516.85. When that person came, he told us the assessment wasn't accurate, and he would need another piece to fix it, and that he would have to order it. We would have to a few weeks before the job could be complete. After a couple of weeks, we received the additional piece. They mailed it directly to our house (I appreciated that) and about a week later the appointment to reschedule was booked. When the repair person arrives she only replaced one of the pieces. My husband and I thought that was odd because the other individual specifically ordered two parts, and she only replaced one. We saved the other piece. Up until the week of 1/4/21, the fridge seemed to be fine. Then I began hearing the door sensor again. My husband checked to see if there was a leak to the piece where the part was replaced and there was not. He called Appliance and explained the situation, and they still wanted us to pay the consultancy fee to have one of their techs fix a problem we paid $516.85 dollars that was supposed to be fixed. He also learned they don't guarantee their work for more than 30 days. Hot mess. He wasn't paying. He looked up the piece that wasn't replaced and how to fix it. Gotta love the internet because he found a video that showed you how to replace it. That's what we did this weekend. He and I fixed it ourselves. We had to remove the food, all the shelves, drawers, and doors to replace one small wire. Something tells me the second tech who came knew that's what was required, and it's why she only did the replacement of one of the parts. She did the easy part. I'm infuriated that the company didn't honor their work. I'm disappointed we paid $516.85 dollars and did someone else's job for them. If another appliance goes, we won't ever call Advantage Appliance, and recommend you don't either. Look around for an alternative repair company and if you have the time, DIY!

I contacted Whirlpool/Maytag manufacturer and they chose to send Advantage Appliance Repair to complete warranty work. I basically am out the purchase price and install price of my dishwasher until I can get it repaired.

As of this date, dishwasher is STILL unrepaired and unreplaced!! I may have gotten a LEMON.

I'm posting this periodically until there is some sort of accountability. I have filed a BBB complaint and ask all of my friends to share this far and wide. This company "services" Massachusetts, Connecticut, and North Carolina. I do not understand HOW a company who has a contract with Lowes Hardware can undertake warranty work, tear the customer's appliance apart, leave it to order a part, and then the OWNER, Brian, REFUSE to send another tech out. They're basically, midjob and walk off leaving the customer hanging!! I don't get how this is being "professional". I know this is long, but please, hear me out. RE: ADVANTAGE APPLIANCE REPAIR They don't care about their customers!! The technician came into my home complaining that he had been sent out during the COVID VIRUS when most people are staying home. He made it very clear that he did NOT want to be here. I was NOT sick, NOT coughing, NOT sneezing, but he told his supervisor that I was sick and he was scared. He took the dishwasher out and partially disassembled it then said he had to order a part and would have to come back out. He shoved the dishwasher back under the counter in a disarray. He left and a month later, I am trying to get them back out. When I talk to Brian, he claims I am lying about the linoleum and that his tech did not tear my linoleum, AND that they're not responsible. He claims he has before pictures that show the floor ripped, never mind I sent him photos of the rip. For all I know, he's using my pictures as the before pictures. So anyway, when I ask for a different technician, he tells me he's just going to cancel the service appointment and I can start all over with Maytag or Whirlpool and have them send out a new company/tech, never mind his tech left my dishwasher partly disassembled and shoved back in under the counter. Now I am almost 66 years old and a widow, a customer, and this is how I'm treated. Do you really want these people servicing your appliances!!?? UPDATE: The NEW company tech came out today (NOT Advantage Appliance repair). He was extremely courteous and professional. He could not believe how Advantage's tech left the dishwasher, all torn apart and pulled out then shoved back in. He said only someone inexperienced would have done that. He said all that needed to be repaired was the door latch and it would only take 5 minutes to fix and NO NEED to pull the whole unit out. Of course, being that the part has to be ordered (AGAIN, because I'm starting all over again with a new company!) But, I'm not complaining. I'm glad to be rid of Advantage Appliance Repair! Reading some of the other reviews, I consider myself lucky that was all I had to endure from Advantage. Yes, they're called Advantage,... because they seek their OWN advantage and NOT that of the customer!!!! BEWARE!!! Check their reviews!

User's recommendation: BEWARE... STAY AWAY FROM THEM...CHECK REVIEWS.

Unacceptable!!!!

Your company is completely unresponsive to your customers !!! A week ago my 6 month old KitchenAid refrigerator (under warranty) simply stopped working and emitted an unbearable gas. On 9/5 your Techician came and diagnosed the problem saying that the Condenser and evaporator needed to be replaced. A repair was scheduled for tomorrow 9/12 and I had to live without a fridge since then. To my surprise I receive a call today saying that you did not have the parts yet and no date was established for the repairs. After several and lengthy calls to your customer service, the only answer I received was “sorry we don’t know yet when we will come to repair”. The disruption of my life due to the poor quality of your product and service is unacceptable. Not having a date in sight to fix the problem is simply ridiculous but a reflection of how your company treat the customers. I sure hope you can solve my problem immediately to which request your attention. My service order is : SWPM9195****-* with WFCC* ADVANTAGE APPLIANCE
