Refused Care to Existing Patient

Original review updated Jul 13, 2023

Trying to see provider for a last visit as I had moved an hour away. Needed to do a telehealth visit.

Provider refused.

Even though I had other medical issues including one that reoccurred which had a side affect of me sleeping all day from severe fatigue which is unsafe to drive along with a rash and shortness of breath and swollen joints. Very unhappy that you would refuse care for 1 visit as many other providers do not do this in the same field.

Preferred solution: Would have been good to have been seen but now they should reimburse my insurance company for all the ER visit I went to (over 12) because they refused to see me

User's recommendation: Find a different practice

Told me to go into withdrawel and come back in 6 weeks.....

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

My name is Pete, these reviews here are the real deal. I went to the one in Pleasant prairie today, I saw Floyd Elftman.

I suffer from bone pain from a double broken femer, Full rotor tear, and buldging discs, the MRI'S show all. He said the bone is back in my leg and shouldn't be an issue. It was all a big joke to him. He told me to ween off all my pain medicine, deal with withdraw, come back in 6-8 weeks.

He was nice about it. Isn't this a pain management clinic where they help people with pain? Thank god I am strong and will deal with withdraw. I have had 3-4 months of physical therapy, shots, with little success.

I only sleep 4 hours a night from the unbearable pain. That's why I came here. He laughed as he walked out the door. I have a very credible witness.

I feel sorry for all who come here with hope. He didn't even offer me any alternative.

I fear no lawsuit I have nothing but the truth left. Good luck to all!

Same here basically. Had great care until my doctor and surgeon left unknown to me.

Had Wada.

Worse medical experience with a Dr or np or whatever she is. Finally had stability after 8 years of *** then she says no it's not working after meeting me face to face once and ripped me off all pain meds and insists on antidepressants already proven to make me sick.

Drugs or donuts ?

I went to see Tsoulfas MD and Kostandinos C for the first time. First impression was poor.

The waiting room had stains all over the floor , people in the waiting room looked down like they were waiting for the end of the world. I filled out a pile of paper work that seem kind of pointless after the exams. When the doctor comes in he starts in talking about injections and if they don't work a more costly procedure. He tells me that they might help with my bulging disc.

I tell him that my neurologist said that there herniated. Tsoulfas Rolls his eye back in his head like the move Exorcist and said yes. I get the impression that he never looked at any of my MRI , x-rays or bothered to read much about me. He tells me that he wouldn't help me with pain meds and that my neurologist can keep giving them to me.

Next he states that if injections help, that he would tapper back my pain medication. NOW red flag he just told me that he wouldn't give me any??? Dose he have a memory of a pea?

Word to the wise Stay away from this place. It smells like going out of business!

Treat you like garbage and push you to the side

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Where do I start? I’ve been a patient of APM since 2012 and I’ve had so many terrible experiences with this place that I’m finally leaving for a different pain clinic.

I’ve had a PA cuss me out for being on disability and treated me like garbage. In the fall of 2015, after being put off for several months, I had a pain pump installed that led to me getting spinal meningitis and almost died! I should have left after that, but like an idiot, I stayed because I didn’t know if I had any other options. Last year I had a herniated disc that causing extreme pain and they were going g to do injections to try and help.

After two months of being put off and ignored, I chose to have a different doctor do the fusion and end my suffering. Then two weeks ago I sat in a room for over two hours waiting to try an injection for another herniated disc I have. Now last week was the straw that broke the camels back! I was scheduled to start a trial for a spinal cord stimulator.

I have been waiting to try this for two years now. Well, they never sent me my information packet in the mail, so I ended up showing up to the place where they did my pump and my injections. Turns out that they don’t do surgeries there anymore! So I had to drive to another location.

On the way to that location they called and told me that I wasn’t even scheduled because I didn’t confirm the surgery and I had to reschedule. I told them I was scheduled for that day and was still coming in. When I showed up they told me that I was now late and needed to reschedule. I told them that I wasn’t leaving until I spoke with the doctor about this that’s been happening.

Instead of him coming out to talk to me, they called the cops on me!!! I wasn’t causing a seen and wasn’t cussing and swearing. I was very irritated, especially after all I’ve been through with them in the past and now this? And the same doctor who almost killed me, couldn’t come out and talk to me?

Absolutely unacceptable. Enough is enough. I’m going to another clinic now. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy.

Most of the people there treat you like dirt and have no compassion for the pain you are going through as well as the problems it causes in your life. Stay away if you have a choice!

Abandoned after following the rules

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Been a client for many years. Sustained numerous injuries d/t my physically challenging work.

Most recently, another injury sidelined me and I arranged all the surgical care advising the pain clinic as per their protocol. This happened to coincide with the cdc's guidelines on opiate use, something that they were routinely prescribing over the course of years. Less than 2 months post-op, I'm reassigned to a NEW, prejudicial, evil and uncaring piece of work nurse practitioner. Citing the CDC reports but not asking my history to any extent, she decides to withdraw my medication 10 mg at a time.

It's to be known that I had already dropped down by 30 mg over the course of the previous six months. My PT following the surgery was horrendous and subsequently I continued with PRN oxycodone, from the surgeon, PREVIOUSLY arranged with the clinic as noted, and as documented in my chart and two months later on my second visit, when this is brought up following a urine screen in (which I was brutally honest) as I had followed all the rules, the evil nurse practitioner who should be ashamed of herself for her poor patient skills, announced to me that I was being dropped as a patient because I was receiving medication from my surgeon. In addition I had just been fired from my job for not returning in a timely fashion which I had told her one minute prior to her bombshell announcement. It was Advanced Pain Managements idea to start me on methadone some six- seven years ago and as a result I have now been forced to stop.

I urge all of you to think twice before becoming a patient here. They had three clinics back in the day and now they have 30. I have watched them start out driving Lexus's, advance to Mercedes and eventually Jaguars. To get an songleinjection in your back will cost your insurance co at least $3,000 for the doctor and $3,000 for laying on a simple OR table, most of the surgical sites they own so it's double billing.

I encourage you to try something other than APM so that you can explore the possibilities of alternatives other than three shots a year at Great expense to your insurance company. These folks do not care.

Incidentally, there was no teaching as to what to expect with my withdrawal symptoms, only a blood pressure medicine called in. Is left me high and dry.

Unnecessary tests, long wait times, rude staff

unnecessary test were given every time you go for an appointment with this doctor. your insurance will not cover this..

the test are being farmed out to companies that are obviously getting some sort of benefit from this doctor. The staff has the highest turn over rate of any doctors office I have ever seen. The blood tests that they deem necessary are taken in a room where urine samples are taken and processed. the waiting room smells like an old persons home and the exam rooms are filthy ..

covered in hairs from patients.

The medical waste bins are overflowing and are usually open. Staff are the rudest and most inept you have ever seen and dont care.

Dr.Nelson is the best in the state hands down. I have never had a doctor really try to get to the bottom of my pain before or take the time to care.

His office staff is very caring, and efficient. I didn't have to wait more than say 5 minutes to be seen.

I would recommend Dr. Nelson to anyone.
