Verified ReviewerResolved: Never finished service
- - Four trips to replace the tub faucet; the tech cut a hole too large for the panel.
- - Five weeks of calls about the access panel; no resolution.
Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with product or service ordered. Finished the job. None.
4 return trips to replace the tub faucet, the tech broke a pipe, fixed the pipe, cut *** larger than the access panel he had with him, and told me to get someone to fix the hole. I've been calling for 5 weeks to get the access panel issue resolved.
I called Acree to complain; the tech called back and wanted to know why I was upset. He said he would order the proper size access panel, and now weeks and phone calls have gone unanswered.
Preferred solution: Deliver product or service ordered
User's recommendation: Avoid Acree
Unsatisfactory service
- - Capacitor 5mfd; tested at 3.5mfd.
- - Hard start kit diagnosed.
- - Quoted $599 and $699; final $780.30.
- - No manager call back; BBB complaint planned.
Worst ever A/C repair service ever. A scam .
Price gouging.
I called Acree to help fix my air conditioning system which was operating intermittently. They sent a technician that evening. He was polite and went through a checklist of diagnostic tests.
Showed me that a 5mfd capacitor was only providing 3.5mfd capacity and needed replacement. also a hard start device was allowing too much current flow replace.
The capacitor replacement is available on Amazon for $7 29.
The hard start kit replacement (coil) was available for $82,79.
He quoted me a charge of $599 to replace the capacitor and $699 to replace the hard start kit.
He told me he would probably be paid around $100 by his company for his work.
I was able to negotiate a slightly lower price and told I would receive a 10% military discount and an old age discount of 10%. I only received one of those, so I settled on a charge of $780.30 with the understanding that I would call Acree to dispute the huge overpricing and seek a refund. I wanted to get my A/C fixed.
I called Acree the next day and talked to Chris in customer relations. He would not give me his last name.
I explained what had happened and asked Chris if he thought $599 was a fair charge to replace a $7.29 capacitor. Just a plug in device.
He answered No comment. I asked about the hard start kit replacement charge. No comment.
I asked to talk to his superior, or manager, to resolve my issue.
He told me a manager would get right back to me. That was 4 hours ago.
I have called several times since. And have been told a manager would call me back.
No one has called.
I will file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau of course.
I have now read the list of complaints filed against Acree.
They are all similar.
No one ever calls back to resolve the issue, although Acree, of course, claims they do.
It is a black hole. Nothing comes out of Acree.
And they claim to have been in business over 25 years and are so good at what they do.
They are a grifting organization.
User's recommendation: Never do any business with Acree.

Verified ReviewerThey do NOT hold up their own "Comfort Guarantee"
- - Installed 3-ton York AC; cooling issues persist.
- - Indoor reached 80°F while outside was 93°F.
- - Duct issue cited; $10k for new ductwork.
I am extremely disappointed with the "solution" Acree AC provided during their last visit. They installed a new 3-ton York AC in June 2023, and we've had issues with the system not cooling properly ever since.
We keep our temperature set at 73, but the hottest my house has gotten was 80 degrees while the temperature outside was 93 degrees. This is unacceptable. We paid over $9k for a system that is not doing its job.
During the last inspection, they told us our main duct was TOO BIG and that's why we're not getting air inside the house. Now they want to charge us $10k for new ductwork.
The reason we chose them was because of their so-called "Comfort Guarantee," which states, "If the desired temperature is not achieved, we will make any UPGRADES, MODIFICATIONS, OR REPAIRS necessary to reach the desired temperature at NO charge to you for a period of 5 years." As I read this, it's not my fault that when they sold us the system, they didn't inspect the ductwork properly. That's on them; they need to cover the new ductwork on their dime, not mine.
I am so disappointed with this company.
Today, I got a second opinion from Energy Whisper Ductwork, and they said a 4-ton unit should have been installed, and there is nothing wrong with my ductwork. Acree, you need to work this out NOW.

Verified ReviewerDoes not standby their install
- - The 4-ton system didn’t cool the home; inside stays ~80F.
- - 3-ton install with a 'comfort guarantee' failed; management didn’t respond.
Not sure where to start. These folks are more slippery than a pocketful of pudding. Needed to get a new system last summer, reached out to 5 contractors. All of them quoted us a 4 ton system, Acree came in and told us they'd save us money and do a 3 ton and that it'll outperform the bigger one. They presented well, are non-commissioned, and very personable. I asked that they do a calculation first to make sure and they told me that it wouldn't be needed thanks to their "comfort guarantee" which promises to make any new install right, no matter what. Acree seemed like the logical choice, especially since they are "family owned", as they told us. Spoiler alert: they are not.
We went with Acree. They were back within a day or two to do the install which went smoothly. Friendly crew, cleaned up after themselves. This is about where the "great" wore off.
This system has never been able to keep up. The house is always hot. When I say hot, most days it's 80 degrees in the house while the thermostat is set to 73, and its 92 outside. The comfort guarantee states if there is more than a 5 degree variance, they'll figure it out and fix it. We average 8-10 degree variances daily. We've had Acree out easily 6-8 times since last summer to figure this out, and every time they come its a different theory. Every theory costs a lot of money to fix. When I mention the comfort guarantee, they make a face like i made this up. The last service tech that was out recommended i reach out to management to escalate the issue which i thought was a great idea. I'm fairly certain, however, management or leadership doesn't exist.
I've been trying, since the first of June, to get a manager on the phone or to return an email. The gatekeepers who answer the phone won't answer any questions, or help you in any way in order to protect these so called ghost managers. They're always busy, always ready to take a message. These calls never get returned. I started emailing 2 or so weeks later after getting beyond irritated. Those emails never get replied to. I've gone up to the president and CEO. I've emailed service manager, sales manager, HVAC division manager, quality assurance manager, the sales rep, and the vice president. Never once a single reply. I've left messages for all of these folks. Never once a return phone call. I've given deadlines, i've begged for just a phone call. Never any return engagement. Making a mistake about the system size is one thing - but MAKE IT RIGHT. Do what you need to do to fix it. The lack of response, or empathy, or even just HEARING us is unacceptable. We're miserable in our house. We're sweating.
Acree will sell the heck out of some systems, and their service team is friendly but i'd question their knowledge outside of "normal" concerns. However, if you REALLY need them, forget it. They will leave you scrambling after taking your thousands upon thousands of dollars, left with a *** system and no resolutions.
You have SO many choices in the Tampa area for a HVAC/plumbing/electrical partner. I implore you to NOT spend money with this company. It is NOT family owned (owned by a private equity firm out of CT called L Catterton), and management does NOT care about you. They don't care about your investment, they don't care about what you think, and they don't even care if you leave a bad review. They won't make it right, they won't stand behind their install, and worst of all of it: they don't keep their word. Do yourself a favor and find another company, preferably one that IS family owned where your money DOES support the local economy, and they DO care about how you feel about the investment.
- Friendly office staff
- No customer service and doesnt return calls or emails

AC Installed
Lineset leaked. ACREE said they would not replace by opening the walls.
They just could not be bothered. This is a big issue for condo owners.

Verified ReviewerUnprofessional Business Practices
- - Tech arrived on time and was pleasant.
- - He said the compressor was bad and quoted 30–40% over locals.
- - Local shop fixed capacitor for $167.50.
Unfortunately, I have no choice but to leave a negative review for this company as they are clearly fraudulent in their practices and I feel that it is important that those that may utilize them are forewarned. The tech arrived on time and was pleasant with myself and my family.
He proceeded to test our compressor, and although I had stated that with my limited knowledge of HVAC, that it was the capacitor, he retorted that it was most certainly not. After multiple tests, he stated that the compressor had gone bad, needed to be replaced and was beyond repair. After a few phone calls to his office, he came back with estimates for a new compressor that were 30-40% higher than local competitors. He then attempted to us on a new system (also far higher than local competitors).
We told him that we were unable to afford it at this time and we spent a sleepless night in a very warm home. The next day we contacted another local company who came out and fixed the compressor by replacingwait for itthe capacitorfor a total of $167.50 (far better than the $4300 we were quoted for a new compressor).
We will be filing a complaint with the BBB as well. This is a shameful and unprofessional method of doing business.
- Dishonest practices

Plumbing and AC work.
- - They bill for diagnosis before fixing the problem.
- - Camera inspection cost $600; a $3,000 pipe replacement was proposed, but the issue remained.
On more than one occasion, this company has charged for repairs or testing that has to be conducted before they can actually fix the problem. Called once for a clogged pipe.
They ran a camera in the pipes first. Charged me $600.00 and wanted to replace $3000.00 of pipe. Pipe still wasn't fixed. AC maintenance was a joke.
Always something broke, blown or damaged. Won't go into each visit and outcome. But always cost something before they could do the diagnosis. Even when we told them what wasn't working.
$$$ spent and still not working! Nothing is REALLY getting fixed.
User's recommendation: Beware, these companies get you thinking that being a Member has real benefits. Just makes them easy money. They don't really care.
Stay away - slimy company
- - They swindled me out of almost $12,000 for a system I didn't need; it should have cost about $5,000.
- - Avoid this company at all costs.
I got totally ripped off by this horrific company. They swindled me out of almost $12,000 for a system that I didn't even need.
It should have cost me about $5,000. They should rot in *** Avoid this company at all costs!
- Tech for free maintenance check was a slick salesman
- He sold me a low quality system for almost 12000
- I overpaid by thousands
Preferred solution: Price reduction
