Unhappy customer

terrible job. Tried to resolve with the company but he is so rude it was not possible. There is a reason he avoids social media platforms such as Facebook. It’s harder to find reviews. Avoid at all costs

Ace Home and Garden Maintenance - Owner Review

Under no condition PAY PAT PITHER ANY MONEY for the work he quotes until it is completed and then still hold 50% for 2 weeks prior to paying him any money. I met Pat and he appeared like an innocent old man with a warm tone about him, however, I had a bad intuition about his character which I should have trusted, nevertheless I went ahead with the quote and he was paid in full once the job was completed, however things took a turn when his bodgy fake turf preparation work started to lift off after 2 weeks, the tiny patches of bulge took off and there were buldges everywhere. You will always have a problem here and there we are all human and make mistakes however, the issue was he started to ignore my calls and avoid the situation, he explained that he had family issue's at the time which I was considerate about, however, when I would ring from my phone he would not answer, but when ringing from another number I would reach him.. go figure.. lo and behold he finally turned up and made the job worse and advised he will not be returning to fix the job. You think it is expensive to hire a professional? wait till you hire an amateur, please think of it this this way if you are in the market for a landscaper or any trade, there is more than just the price aspect, you want someone who takes accountability and will try their best to respect your home and properly do the job, you want reliability and honesty and the most basic thing - communication.. People like Pat will take your money and have no accountability or ounce of respect to come and fix the issue, even if you do the right thing by them and pay them the money. I would HIGHLY ADVISE AGAINST using this company "ACE Home and Garden Maintenance" for any work, this is based on the experience I had with this company and the owner Pat Pither, you can make your own decision, however, it was really frustrating once the job was done to get a honest word out of him. I will also be seeking legal action against this company, its a shame that we live in a world where there is no longer accountability and honesty in people to do a simple business transaction. Ta

Disappointed by lack of courtesy

We had cut down a lot of trees and shrubs in our back yard in preparation for a major landscaping overhaul. We needed someone to come and collect the green waste. I sent an enquiry to ACE home and garden maintenance and got a response almost immediately. Pat came to inspect the job and quoted $250.00 which was more than reasonable. We arranged for the job to be done on a Monday afternoon. 5 days later we are still waiting...Pat really knew his stuff and we were looking forward to working with ACE for all our landscaping needs. Unfortunately the lack of courtesy to call us to let us know they were unable to keep the appointment or reschedule in a timely manner is really disappointing. We will be making other arrangements and hopefully find someone more reliable.

I want to warn consumers about Pat Pither of Ace Home and Garden Maintenance. I found this company through Hi Pages.

I will be also letting Hi Pages know about my project. I wanted my backyard landscaped. It is a sloping block. The job was going to be labour intensive as no dingo or bob cat could access the block.

Pat arrived to check out the job and provided me with a quote for $15,000 which would give me, synthetic grass, two concrete retaining walls and steps up to my future fruit tree garden. The back yard was overgrown so had to be cleared. I accepted the quote and Pat requested $7500 upfront to pay supposedly for materials. Pat told me that he would also have his son and son-in-law starting the job on last Monday week.

Pat and his son Rodney turned up on the Monday and started clearing the block. Tuesday was the same. It all went south from there. I was unaware that Pat's son had a bad back and that Pat also was struggling with the labour.

Wednesday Rodney only came to the house and was clearly struggling with the labour and worked very slowly. Pat advised that they would not work Thursday. On the Friday they both turned up but were clearly struggling. Rodney knocked on my door and said that his dad would like to talk to me.

When I spoke with him he advised that he had made a mistake on the quote and would need an extra $7,000 or would have to leave the job and return my money. Both just sat staring at the job. I asked Pat to think about alternatives and call me on the Saturday. I returned home on the Friday afternoon to find that all equipment had been removed.

Saturday afternoon I called Pat and asked if he had an alternative. He said he was still thinking. It was then that I stated that I believed that he had taken on a project that he could never have completed. I asked on the day he quoted if he was a qualified landscaper and he said yes.

I believe he had a duty of care to tell me his son had a back problem. I would never have appointed them. Now to the worst part. On the Friday Pat had stated he would return my deposit.

On the Saturday I said I was happy to pay $1500 for them clearing my block and that he refund $6000. He said he would look at all the hours. He came back with $2750 total cost - 48 hours. Total rubbish.

Pat would come and go to various jobs. He and his son sat around just staring at the job on Friday and wanted to charge me 9 hours. He took away dirt that cost $350 to dump and I really need to refill and I am going to have to pay for this again. Please do not pay money up front to this man.

He will look you in the eye and tell you what you want to hear until you pay money. This has caused me a lot of stress and heartache. I was so looking forward to this project being completed and I trusted him.

He paid $5,000 into my bank this morning. Im $1000 out of pocket Gayle

I hope consumers take this review seriously and do not hire these services as it will cost more to fix than it is to hire him.

You are better off having someone doing the work

I'm so pleased Pat didn't keep any of our appointments after reading the bad reviews his business is receiving, he couldn't take the trouble to call and apologise for the lack of a show.

One day Pat you will get yours what goes around comes around.

Cheers AC

I had the same experience, glad to find this review and see it wasn't just me and that the man is a shady character.

Ace Home and Garden Mainetnenace Canberra, Abusive and dishonest business

Hired these people to do a total garden cleanup, and removal of shrubs and ivy. Pat turned up and quoted $800 which I thought was a lot, but if they do the whole house front and back, no problem. Anyway I come home later that day to see no bushes trimmed, no grass mowed, no trees pruned. So I ring to find out what happened, the guy who quoted never turned up for the job he sent two young guys to do it instead. He said he would come around the next day and fix it. Well, no one came, no one called. I was pretty angry at waiting around at home for nothing. Anyway I ring him again and Pat gives me a huge attitude, starts swearing at me, and ended the conversation by saying 'F** off' and hung up on me. Great business practice to treat customers with such contempt and rip them off, be abusive and dishonest.
