We have had two windows explode

At two different times we have had two windows explode and the inside pane of glass shaders . What , if any is a warranty good for?

User's recommendation: I realize two company's have taken over. Can they honor the warranty?

Hello, I too have the exact same issue. Windows were purchased by Window Depot and the franchise owner (Lance Cyford of Reisterstown MD) went out of business.

Anyway, Accu-Weld went out of business and was purchased by Haddon, who has since gone out of business as well. Window Depot indicated that they had to sever their relationship with Lance Cyford because he wasn't installing the brand of windows that Window Depot offered. Anyway, Window Depot won't stand behind you. I said to them..

how am I supposed to know as a consumer that he was installing the correct brand of windows? Good luck!!!!

Frustrated

We purchased our Epoch Garden window from Lowe's which included a "Lifetime" warranty. The seals on the window broke it began leaking and one of the side windows cracked. We went to Lowe's to get the repairs made only to find out that Epoch went bankrupt and the company that bought out Epoch went out of business. Lowe's could offer no assistance. I was told to contact Accuweld to seek assistance with this defective product that I can clearly see we are not the only people with this garden window and the same issues with it. I appreciate any assistance we can get with replacement.

We had the window repaired by A1 glass at our expense. No more problems.

Did you find a resolution to your problem with the garden window? I am having the same issue and am having no luck.

Would love to know your outcome. Thanks very much.

Moldy window

I also have a lifetime guarantee with a garden window. I have the sealer falling out of the side windows and top of window is coming apart. It is also leaking and causing mold in the corners of the windows, I do I get this taken care of. Lowe's are the ones we ordered and had them installed the window. They have not even bothered to help either. So what am I supposed to do? It is against the law to have mold in your home and this window as mold. For the price I paid for this window it should be fixed and I am tired of getting the run around.

I have exactly the same problem. Within a year of installation the seal on the top became defective. I am understanding that AccuWeld is out of business so essentially no recourse...

I've had the same luck with their windows. Lost the seal in several only a few years old, so much for the lifetime warranty.

#1011303

Were you able to find a suitable replacement? Same thing happened to me.

I purchased Accuweld windows in 2007 - by 2011 the seals were breaking. So unfortunate. The co.

that installed them went out of business b/c of this issue.

I am trying to resolve my Accuweld window issue now.

Accu-Weld Rip Off

I am a dealer and installer for Accu-Weld windows. What you are not told is that a defective window that has to be replaced is covered under warranty, although as Michele told me in the billing department that you have to read the fine print and we do not cover shipping cost are the labor to replace the window or parts. The cost of the window is about $200 and the shipping is $15 and the travel time and cost for your labor is not covered. The cost of travel to this location and the tools involved was over $100. Do not buy these windows ever.

What did you do about your accused Windows?

#1014881

I have to agree, we had roughly 20 windows installed in our house a few years ago. Now over half of them have mold growing inside, between the pains....

and when I called the company that I bought them from, that is exactly what they told me..... very disappointed because I was originally told they were good windows..

#941056

We have 18 Accu-Weld windows in our home, installed June of 09, and 16 of them have failed. We see spots between the glass panes, many to the point that we can no longer see through the windows.

These windows are supposed to have a lifetime warranty!

The installer has told us that Accu-Weld has gone out of business and there is nothing they can do. The installer even gave us a quote for the replacement costs and LABOR costs to replace the glass.

So not only does the installer refuse to stand behind his work and the products he chose to sell, but he wants to make money on the situation by charging us to fix the problem!!

Has anyone been successful in litigating this? I'm not looking to make a lot of money -- just enough to replace my lifetime-warranted windows!

The window had inherent design flaws that were noted in some blogs on the internet as far back as 2008. The window had a molded spacer extruded in the sash itself.

For the manufacturer it was supposed to minimize glass handling, but also meant that the glass could not be replaced correctly without remaking the whole sash. If the manufacturer went out of business, the window could not be correctly fixed. Most vinyl windows are designed to have a premade glass pack from mostly any glass manufacturer regardless of whether the parent manufacturer is still in business. The Accu-Weld 6500 appeared to have a design flaw of vinyl in the spacer being too this and melting causing the glass to blow.

Unfortunately, after Accu-Weld/Haddon windows went out of business, so did the ability to remake the sash, which, oddly enough, still had the same design flaw. Some install companies had the idea to cut the spacer out and glue in a glass pack which they charge the customer for.

This is just a bandaid repair as the integrity and energy efficiency of the window is not what the customer paid for and almost assuring the glass will blow again. Social Media, as well as, legal means are good viable options, as many, many people have the same problem

This is the exact problem I am experiencing. 16 Windows installed 2008 are now so cloudy between the panes, they are difficult to see out of.

They weren’t like this when I bought the home Oct 2014.

I was told by the installer today “sorry, we can’t help you”, there is no manuafacturer to honor the lifetime warranty! This is terrible

What was your final outcome on this? Did you go through litigation?

#813949

smae here told of the great warranty now says sorry about your luck accuweld went out of buisness, where do i get a new or replacement glass since mine has spots between the glass. I'm sure it is the same dealer who's first name is mike. What a scam artist with there 20 year warranty.

#672521

2008 Purchased 17 AccuWeld 6500 w/Argon/Krypton Gas from a Toms River, NJ seller/dealer. Nothing but problem w/windows since day one.

Gases leaked and & formed cloudy spots and getting worse by the day.

The seller/dealer came two years in a row and replace two panels that went bad and turned cloudy/gold looking free of charge.

Now, we have a number of windows going bad when I called seller I was told AccuWeld went out of business and he couldn't do anything to help. Some way to stand behind your product that you swore was the best. I can offer the seller's business name if asked. What recourse do we have? I would like to have a view from by windows. Feel scammed.

$6000. is a lot to pay for windows we won't be able to see out of.

Brick, NJ resident..............help me please.
