Don't be fooled by Accuquest Advertising
"WANTED" 35 people with hearing loss. Qualified Participant Needed for Technology Field Test.
This type of false advertising should not be permitted by law and newspapers and magazines carrying their ads should be ashamed to mislead people, mostly elderly people, to this deceitful and shameful ploy to separate hard working people from their money.
Just read their advertisements! Enough said!
- Crooks
Preferred solution: stop deceitful advertising or turn them into the AG in Texas
Would not accomadate by making a Saturday appointment
This is the second time my hearing aid went out in less than 3 years. I am a working person in the personal care field and typically work 12 hour shifts.
I called and made an appointment on Oct 30 for Nov. 6th. Only to have my appointment cancelled because the staffing at this office had to go work at another location. This office is only open Tues, Thurs and Sat by appointment only.
Based on my schedule I was no longer available to come on Tues or Thurs as those are my 12 hr shift days and would need a Saturday appointment. They would not accommodate and schedule me for a Saturday. I made several calls and was told they would call me back. Never called me back.
Finally I had a Tuesday evening off and called and scheduled an appointment for 5pm. When I came in I was told I didn't buy the hearing aid there and he needed to check to see what to do. I most certainly did buy and pay there for the hearing aids. Then he brought up that he knew I was requesting a Saturday appointment.
I expressed that with my schedule and them cancelling on me I have waited 2 months to get my aid fixed. He started laughing and said he doesn't work Saturdays. I then said that I have been without my hearing aid for 2 months and don't find that funny. He shot back very in and irritated manor at me that "all you have to do is leave work early or go in late, you don't have to be ignorant about it." When you work 12 hour shifts in personal care fields leaving early or coming in late is not an option.
In dealing with Accuquest for almost 3 years they never have the same people in the office. I have never been treated in such a rude manor by anyone in the customer care field before.

Preferred solution: Provide better staffing- training on proper customer service
I Just don't Buy It
I Have had my CIC starkey accuquest hearing aids for 7 years, from midland michigan, The accuquest techs have serviced them, repaired them, programed and reprogramed, adjusted these aids for the 7 years, Now I tried getting them readjusted again and there was a problem, the computer program would not connect to the aids, even when the proper codes were inserted, I was told the aids were too old and needed to be sent back to the factory for reprograming at a cost of $200.00 per aid before the NEW computer program would see them.
I Just don't buy this at all, what happened to the computer program that was used the last 7 years that would and did readjust my aids. The Tech said that the company changes the computer program and he can no longer use the old one, what a crock, I left and will no longer purchase hearing Aids from Accuquest, I find them a rip off.
- Wouldnt even try to find the correct program to connect my aids

Sold an AccuQuest I didn't need
Went to AccuQuest , in Des Moines, for 2nd opinion. Nickolas, said, Widex said the other Auidologist didn't know what they were doing!
I needed more power. That would require a larger ear piece. When it arrived, it was so large it would no longer fit in my ear. It turned out to be to "LOUD" I returned to Woodard.
They said over powered and 2 large. Having been sold a device. from AccuQuest for $900.00, I was not happy and ask for at least a partial refund. Not only did they refuse that they also said they couldn't find the Aids they had sold me.
Those did turn up after several weeks of calls, on my part. I feel I was taken advantage of.
Sales being the goal, not service! CHECK IT OUT!

Unscrupulous and misleading sales tactics, company does not stand behind it's product, takes advantage of elderly
I purchased model Source 55 for my elderly mother who had just suffered a stroke from Atlanta based Accu Quest and the product had issues from day one. Her former hearing aids were lost during her hospital stay.
The doctor and attendant stated that this was the latest technology with all the bells and whistles but that several adjustments would have to be made over time. I live in Boston, and my mother lives in a senior centre in Atlanta. My mother attempted to make several appointments to the center, she was successful on a few and unsuccessful on many. On one occasion the doctor fumbled with the hearing devices and attempted to send my mother on her way explaining to her that the units were in order.
My mother and nephew complained to the receptionist who took the devices and did further twists and bends (nothing technical) and the items worked perfectly. This was eight months after having the device and my mother told the receptionist that this was her first time actually not having to embarrassingly ask someone to repeat themselves. Unfortunately, this was short-lived and the devices went back to functioning per usual a few days later. My mother is retired with a healthcare background and although the units were subpar, she takes meticulous care of the devices, proper cleaning and weekly battery changes (which I find somewhat disturbing given that they are supposed to be the latest and greatest technology at the time of sale 15 months ago.
After several attempts to make an appointment with Accu Quest, I finally decided to drive down to Atlanta from Boston and perform a walk-in. I explained to the receptionist that my mother had been attempting to make appointments and that most of the time she only received recorded messages and that phone calls would go unreturned. I also explained that my nieces and nephews when attempting on her behalf also experienced the same. I also note that during my visit to the office the receptionist was in the midst of strong arm selling another elderly couple as the phone rang without anyone attending to it.
The office itself looked at though it was closed from the parking lot which prompted me to have my family wait in the car until I found out for certain. I also wanted to speak to someone outside the earshot of my mother. After I got my point across of basically informing the receptionist that we had either been sold a set of defective units that haven't worked for more than a week optimally; she pulled the file and stated that sorry the units are now 3 months out of warranty. I responded that's impossible because we were told that the unit had a 3 year warranty and free life time adjustments.
The receptionist stated that is normally the case but it looks as though the person that purchased these agreed to a 1 year warranty. I responded that I was the individual that purchased the units and never agreed to anything of the sort. She said that she couldn't explain because she had only been at the facility for the past few months and that my only recourse was to contact the manufacturer. She then went on to say that the units that we had were old and outdated and not considered to be top range.
I said that we were told by the doctor and the receptionist that they were the best technology available on the day of purchase.
She then replied that, no there are much better technology and not what we sell as our top or mid of the line. She then said that there was nothing she could do but that I should get in touch with the regional representative.
Preferred solution: Full refund
