Worst customer service ever. Drag on cancelling for weeks.
I used to love this company. Never had problems for years while I was living with my mom. Now that I've moved out all I get is problems. A year ago we bought a package. The first thing they do is charge me 1 month instead of 1 year. Not a huge problem but still annoying. About a month and a half ago we started having daily service interruptions. Every single day we would loose our internet for a couple of hours. We called and at first they tried all the tech support stuff. It worked for a day or two. After about two weeks it was still not fixed. THATS WHEN IT STARTS. They tell us our modem is defective. So I expect to receive a new one. NOPE our guaranty had apparently ended a week before. Are you serious?! So for the past month Ive been trying to fix the problem and as soon as my guaranty expires they tell me to buy another 100$ modem. NO WAY! Also some agents told us our plan was ending May 24, some told us June 24... Make up your mind guys... I ended up cancelling (May 18). So now I have no internet. We bought with another provider which tells me my line inst available yet. APPARENTLY the internet would only be "out of my house" may 24, fine thats when my plan ends (even though I have no internet anymore). On the 24 I call and lo-and-behold my line will only be free on May 28. WHY, no idea... I don't get why I have to wait another 4 days.

Acanac - Technical Support Review from Oakville, Ontario
A shitiest Internet service in Canada is Acanac. Of cause it goes after Bell and Rogers but it is not less frustrating. Acanac as any other Internet provider is buying bandwidth from somewhere else and basically can only add it's service in terms of tech support, customer care etc. This is here where Acanac shows it's ugly face. Unprofessional techsupport will drive you crazy. In my case the guys left us without internet for weeks bowing towards Bell from whom they obviously buying bandwith. The matter is that Acanac is using Bell infrastructure but has no controll over this infrustructure and related issues so you may expect a Bell technician visit for days sitting without Internet. On top of it days after days you will listen to Acanac mentally handycupped "techsupport" will keep telling you that there is no ticket in their system (though they have created the ticket a day before) and instead of expecting a technician (who's visit they confirmed yesterday) you must to bring your modem to their office. Being an engineer in the field of electronics myself (and knowing that my modem is allright) it's a big fun to understand finally with what lousy people you deal with. So, wanna have days and weeks with no Internet ...subscribe for Acanac "service". In addition I would say whatever provider in Canada you take you anyway gonna get a stone age quality if Internet (in trems of upload/download speed). Upload speeds of 1-10 Mbit/sec is a developing country level.

Poor customer service
Horrible service and even worse customer service
I have never complained about a company before: most companies try their best (but sometimes fail) to serve the customer, and that is part of life. Acanac just wants your money. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD!! They will keep on billing waaaay beyond service termination and you will NOT get your money back. Ultimately they will blame YOU for not following their complicated, bogus protocols that don't work anyway. Good luck speaking to someone on the phone, and when you do they just ask you to email them. Days and weeks go by without a response, and then you will be blamed for not emailing them properly! Service is poor, and customer service is even more pitiful. Do yourself a huge favour and try someone (anyone) else.
Misinformed about DSL speed and lied to!!
I had signed up for DSL 15 at my new apartment. I spoke to three representatives to get information before I even gave any sort of credit card information. I was satisfied with the information I got so I paid for the installation, shipping and handling of the modem and the service for the whole year. When we started the service, I checked the speed of the internet and noticed that I was only getting 2-3mbps at any given time during the day. I called acanac and finally someone told me that because of the old bell dsl lines in my particular building, I would not be able to receive anything over 3mbps. I was livid when I heard this because that is 12mbps les than I had paid for and none of the three representatives I had spoken to even mentioned that to me. When I tried to complain, the representative told me I had to email billing and couldn't speak to a real person on the phone. Billing was taking days and days to get back to be so finally I got fed up and cancelled my service. Thankfully I was within three first month on my service so I got most of my money back but not the shipping and handling of the modem and the installation fee. I wasted $100 and a month of my time. I would NOT recommend acanac, horrible service and they are not trustworthy!!!
ACANAC Bad management of a company run by South Asians
We had subscribed to voip in 2011 which never worked and Acanac did not help at all. They took one year advance at 9.95 per month and we asked for refund. It took us one long year before this company agreed to refund the money in May 2012. Then they kept on delaying and delaying asking for one document after another, although they were keen to sign us up and take our money without any document. It is two years since we have been waiting for refund. They are total fraudsters and mannerless. Typical south asian CSRs like Sanam, Hamed, Sonia, Navneet are talking *** with clients. These people are totally unprofessional and mannerless because their management teaches them to be rude. What are they to lose if they have taken all money upfront. They know that consumers can't do anything even if they don't provide any service. This is due to lax laws in canada where companies like Acanac are ripping off Canadian consumers. We are taking them to small claims even if it is for $134.92 plus interest. We paid from credit card that cost us a marginal interest rate of 28% and they are shameless and refusing to refund back the money. NEVER PAY ADVANCE TO ANY COMPANY IN CANADA FOR SERVICE NOT RECEIVED. This company could pack up anytime and their bosses would run away to Asia.
