SCAM in Brooklyn

The ABc Carpet came to my home, picked up my rug and was giving a $175.00 deposit. They returned my rug a few day ago (Friday) and the rug was not cleaned. The rep. wanted me to pay and I refused, I called 911 and ask him to remain until the police came and he left with my rug. I call him again to talk about retrieving my rug and he told me I had to pay an additional $75.00 for delivery plus the balance. So, I asked him to meet me at the local precinct and I haven't heard from him thus far. If anyone, received a call from 917-653-*****, please don't do any business with this rep. He is holding my rug hostage until I pay for services that was not done!!

Deadhead Sales Rep and Crooked Installation

It took us weeks to get through the process of even ordering the carpeting for our staircase because the sales rep just couldn't care less about the sale. Even though the sale was over $2500, he was difficult to reach and was unwilling to even provide a receipt for our payment. We tried several times to reach a manager but were unable to do so. Finallly, we were able to reach the sales rep and finalized the sale. He had promised installation the following week but then called at the last minute to inform us we had to wait another week. At that point, we had removed all the pictures from the walls and three large plants to accommodate the installation. It was a major inconvenience. The installer, Tito, with his inflated ego, sat on the floor talking about himself while his poor assistant did all the work by himself. Quite a few times the assistant asked for help but Tito brushed him off as if it was beneath him to do the work. Consequently, we later realized that the carpeting was installed crooked on the landings. I am reluctant to contact ABC to have it done over since they would probably send out the same guy to correct it, and I'd rather not see his face again.

Terrible Customer Service

I'll be honest, I usually get some perverse glee out of posting a negative review. I'm very picky about what I'll review at all -- it has to be really awesome or really bad -- so if I write a negative review, it's because the establishment in question *** well deserves it. In this case, however, my feelings are mixed. Because in one sense, I love ABC. The selection is just beyond beyond beautiful, and wandering around the store looking at things makes me happy. Total home furnishings ***. I've bought some things here that I love, and I won't even complain about the prices. Some of their selection is undoubtedly overpriced (laughably so), but some of it is actually that nice. And look, no one is forcing you to shop here. Pier 1 is only like a 10-minute walk away. HOWEVER, the customer service is atrociously, atrociously bad. Like, so bad. I went in the other day looking for a duvet cover. I'm on a mission to make my bed the coziest place on earth, and I wanted to get one splurge item to realize that dream. First, I wandered around the bedding floor for about 20 minutes, in which time not one employee greeted me or asked if I needed help. Fine, whatever, I'm an independent shopper and I was just browsing. But then I had a question about a particular item. I approached the woman who was manning the desk for that section, and said, "I have a question about that quilt over there" and pointed three feet to my left. She responded by interrupting me and saying, "If it's not in this section I can't help you." I was confused and said, "But it's right there..." It was totally her section and then she was like, "Oh. Fine," and sulkily walked after me. (Why would she assume it wasn't her section? Wishful thinking, because then she'd have to do her job?) I pointed to a quilt and asked if it came in a duvet. She said, "No," and WALKED AWAY. For realz. I can't believe I didn't leave at that point, but I guess I'm a masochist. I went to another section, found something else I liked, and tried to find someone to help me. I stood there, looking expectant and confused, while employee after employee walked right by me. I checked to make sure I wasn't accidentally wearing my invisibility cloak. I was not. Finally I grabbed someone who had to get someone else to help me. She came over, "helped" with sliiiiightly less attitude than the woman before her, dragged me over to yet another desk where yet another woman acted like I had stormed into her living room and demanded her assistance. She looked up the item I was interested in to see if they had it in stock. Then I asked, "Do you have matching pillows?" She literally SIGHED and ROLLED HER EYES before looking that up. She didn't tell me about the linens I was looking at, or show me additional options. Look, lady, if I'm going to pay upwards of $400 on a big square of fabric, I want you to at least TRY to sell me on it. Every other employee I saw while I was there (over 20 of them) was either a.) socializing with other employees, or b.) surfing the internet. Like, really. In one section a woman was "working" on a computer whose screen was in full view, and she was on Facebook. Don't they work on commission? If I came back in a giant, expensive hat, a la Pretty Woman, would they even notice? Why doesn't ABC hire passionate, eager Parsons grads longing to work in interior design? I have so many questions! I finally got the hint and left. If ABC doesn't think this kind of customer service is hurting their bottom line, they are dead wrong. I would have been a regular customer for years to come, and now I'll never go there again. (Same goes for anyone I talk to.) I guess it was super rude of me to want to spend my money there. i apologize to the ABC employees I inconvenienced.

Completely Satisfied

ABC have changed how they charge for shipping items to customers. Now you can order as many items as you want and ABC will add the shipping charge in with what you order. If they have to ship 3 or more boxes the customer is only charged one time for shipping. I have been ordering from ABC for years. I am happy to know that they have changed the way they charge for shipping. They have a variety of items to choose from, it's like shopping at Walmart only better. I can sit in my home and order what I want from their catolog and don't have to go out and deal with standing in line waiting to be checked out.

ABC Carpet--beware of return policy

I live out of town and when in NYC last January, bought a rug for our beach house in Montauk--specifically telling the salesperson (Irene) that our house in Montauk was under construction and we wouldn't know if the rug was 'right' until August or September. She assured us all was well--although we couldn't expect a cash refund, an exchange or credit was reasonable. We NEVER would have bought the rug BUT FOR assurances of an ethical and easy return policy...We felt our purchase was safe. It wasn't. Dealing with ABC --it turns out is TRULY--caveat emptor. Buyer Beware. I called the store today to advise that we finally were able to try out the rug this past week and, sadly, the rug didn't work. I cheerfully stated a store credit would be fine. Instead, I was told they would not accept any return. Shocking. I called to speak to the Manager--and was left waiting on the phone for 10 minutes until I gave up.. UNETHICAL....DO NOT BUY UNLESS YOU ARE 100% SURE THE PURCHASE WILL WORK. SALESPEOPLE WILL TELL YOU ANYTHING TO GET A SALE. SCARY!

I just had a terrible experience with ABC Carpet. The whole time the sales person Melanie was assisting us I heard how I could keep the carpet for 3 days and try it out in different lights to be sure we liked it.

The carpet we settled on was not in the size we needed, so it was ordered. Never at any time did my husband or I hear Melanie say special orders are not refundable. We were not 100% sure the carpet would work and would never have ordered it if we couldn't exchange it. When she gave me the receipt I folded it up and put it in my purse without looking at it and it wasn't untill I picked up the carpet that I saw no returns/refunds was stamped on the receipt. We complained and were given the cold shoulder.

We would have bought several other carpets from them had they worked with us.

Now I have a large expensive carpet that looks terrible in my house. I am very upset.
