Unbalanced health information, bias of Australian ABC TV and radio against vitamins & supplements
I will start with a notion that we are also consumers of health and scientific information which comes from various media and writen by individuals who are considered to be experts in popular presentation of those informations.
The person in question here is a MD by the name of Norman Swan, and he has status of almost a celebrity in this area. He has a daily program on public radio ABC named Health Minutes (which is an Australian government radio station, financed by the Australian taxpayers). He runs a health information website Health Report of the same (ABC) media house, where he publish transcripts from t his ABC Radio program.
Anybody who reads those transcripts cam see that his reports are not balanced and are biased against taking natural supplements, and especially against vitamin C. The fact is that there is a whole science, with a few hundred good studies about the benefits of (megadoses) of vitamin C, but Dr Swan will pick up one study which have some unconclusive results and ignore all other studies. His mind is closed to anything positive and benefitial, he has made up his mind beforehand.
With all responsibility I qualify such a practice as Scientific Fraud in the field of consumer information about health.
