I would have been out of $250.00.

I looked this guy up on LinkedIn, and you seriously hired a guy with a postcard as his picture? This one is kinda on you, just look at his experience, 40 years experience in SFPD and he looks like he is 30?
You should screen anybody you are thinking of hiring. Some free advice, if something looks to good to be true, it usually is.
