Humiliated by Store Manager

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - Paid $1 to fax; cashier claimed no payment and dispute began.
  • - District manager did nothing; calls were not returned; customer seeks action.

I went into the store to have a document faxed. I paid $1 for the fax. At the time, I gave the document to the cashier. After faxing my document, she came back and told me that I did not pay for it, and I said I did. So we went back and forth. The young man sitting next to her told me that I did not give her any money because he had been sitting there watching, and I said, 'Sir, you're sitting over here; you can't even see what's going on in her station.' He said, 'I can't see, and you did not give her any money,' and I said I did. After going back and forth, he called me a motherf***er and told me to get the *** out of the store and called me a liar and a thief.

I called a different store and spoke with someone who was supposed to be the district manager, who did absolutely nothing. When I called back after 7:00 p.m., he told me that they had not reviewed the camera and that it was still under investigation. I told him that I was at the store earlier, and he told me to leave because he would handle it from there. I told him to call me to let me know what the outcome was, but I never received a call. After trying to call him back, he never answered the phone again.

I have never been so humiliated and disrespected in a place of business in my life. They spoke in Spanish, laughing and taunting me through the glass as if nothing was going to happen and I was wasting my time. I informed them that I was not going to let this go and that something needed to be done. I will not rest until it's done. Whatever the procedures are for this type of behavior is what needs to be done. I know there is no policy or procedure that will allow a manager, especially as the head and the example, to disrespect a customer in the manner in which I was disrespected.

User's recommendation: My recommendation to Future customers is, if you're not Mexican do not go into A1 Check cashers on 5424 Antoine because they're very disrespectful from the manager on down

When the cashier kept demanding payment, what did she say when you described the person that took your money and asked that they be paged?

I was called a thief and a liar by the store manager.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - I paid the clerk for the fax, but the manager said I didn't.
  • - He called me a liar and told me to get out.
  • - They spoke Spanish and taunted me.

I entered the store to have a document faxed. I gave the young lady the document then gave her a dollar.

After she faxed the document she came back with the facts submission and told me to pay a dollar I informed her I'd already paid we went back and forth and the manager who was sitting in the next window told me that I didn't pay and call me a liar and a thief. After more works with exchange between he and I he called me a mother *** and told me to get the *** out of his store while pointing towards the front door. I told him to run the cameras back and he will see that I paid the young lady and they both owed me an apology and he told me to get the *** out of his store again I asked him was he the manager and he said he was not the manager. I then called another store and they gave me someone who was supposed to be the district manager.

I told him I wanted him to call me back after he had investigated and played the tape back and when I called him later on this evening after 7:00 p.m. he told me that they hadn't checked the camera which leads me to believe that he's not the district manager and that he's just another person or another manager trying to cover up for this manager. I will not let this go. I have never been so humiliated in my whole entire life I've never been that disrespected by someone that was supposed to be providing a service for me and to speak belligerently to me in that manner I know is against all store policy and there should be some type of repercussions behind his actions and the actions of the young lady because when I asked her what the address for the store was she told me to look it up with an attitude.

Then they all started speaking in Spanish where I couldn't understand and sitting back there laughing at me taunting me through the window..and and then they speaking in Spanish and every customer that came in behind them would look back at me after they've told the customer whatever they told them in Spanish that I couldn't understand of course I just feel like it's disrespect and if I'm an American and I'm speaking English you should be speaking English as well.

I wonder if I called immigration with everyone that works there still have a job or everyone that works in the A1 check cashing family still have a job I'm not going to let this go. M recommendation

User's recommendation: If you're not Mexican don't go into this store because you will be diarespected

Call immigration fool. Check cashing businesses, due to the nature of their job, require extensive background checks for ANY position.

National criminal and civil history, 10-year address check via social security, credit check just to start. The only jobs with more extensive screening involve security clearances for anything government-related.

Guest

Why didn’t you point to the register the payment was made at? Wouldn’t the last or close to last transaction be yours?

Guest

"I wonder if I called immigration", you're ignorant. End of story.

Extra charges on my check, Bad attitude From The manager to myself and when I asked him to return me my check he said no that he didnt care and for me to call the cops if I wanted to, every employee was laughing about the situation. When I asked him to explain to me why he was keeping it, and he said because he could.

He was disrespectful and asked me to lie if someone called me about the check and when I told him no that I didn't want to lie, he got upset and said for me to leave and that he wasn't going to return it to me. He was charging me $70 to cash a check in the amount of $500. I have a receipt as well.

No one wanted to help me afterward, and when I walked outside to get my phone, they denied my entry back into the store. I need this resolved.

  • - Check slid through glass; complaints via receipt link; mother's email.
A1 Check Cashing - Overcharged at 5424 Antoine drive suite B store number 8 Houston Tx....

Feb.14 2023 I attempted to get info.on check cashing fee for an Liberty Mutual collision insurance check of $1861.56. was told by the manager " we'll have to process check first.after waiting approx.10min.of employee calling different people he cash check placed in a envelope and slid it through the glass hole without counting.so I counted it in the store and realized $231.56 was charged as a cashing fee without a chance to cancel transaction because this manager would not give me my check back .

He / manager answered "there's a web link on the wall for customers complaints." Then said " it's on your receipt." This money is for repairs to my truck. Now I'm $200 short of payment. I have to report this to my insurance agency agent Carrie Vasquez. Please help to resolve this price gouging issue. I preferr my mother's email to correspond due mine being down as of now.

ELWillisus@***.com. thank you.

User's recommendation: Watch out for this store has a racist manager.who will do anything in his power to take more of the customer money to premote himself.and violate the customer at customer's expense. The 10min. I sat in the lobby wait for an answer 3 Spanish custermers we're waited on in a few seconds smoothly while I continue waiting without my check.my experience is still traumatizing due to feeling like I've been robbed of $231.56.

Overcharged at 5424 Antoine drive suite B store number 8 Houston Tx. 77091

AI Highlights
  • - The 1% check cashing sign doesn't specify which checks.
  • - Discrepancy: $1,861.56 listed vs $1,630 received; $231.56 deducted.
A1 Check Cashing - Overcharged at 5424 Antoine drive suite B store number 8 Houston Tx....

Have reason to believe this company display false advertisment.Due to sign of 1%check cashing does not specify which check out of God only knows how many there are except payroll. The sign doesn't even say what kinds of checks. The consumer only learns this after a 10min. wait to process. The teller/manager called me back to the window then slide an envelope thru the little hole.

Not counting the money in front of me.

So I counted it in front of him,to find out out of $1,861.56 check counted $1,630.which means he deducted $231.56.Denied the Right to Cancel when I ask for my check back sliding the money back in the lil hole. The manager responded " you can go to their website to file a complaint." "You can call the police." Once they get your check behind that glass it's then confiscated by their employees. They will not give it back to the owner..What give them the Right to go in the money that intended for myself from my insurance company.

User's recommendation: Ask the names or number of the different checks s they cash and which applies to the 1%rule and which checks have another rule.Warning you will have the Right to refuse/ Cancelation denied.

These people will use your info. They have your information in a text.

Not only that they cash checks without verifying them first. I dont know if thats legal or not but need to be looked into. You can request to give your check back and theyll literally argue and come up with 10 reasons why they can get it cashed and the others wont.

This place a joke and the scamming. If youre not Hispanic I would recommend not using their service.

  • - Called Thursday about a fraudulent check a woman was trying to cash.
  • - Checks stolen from my mailbox.
  • - I left messages and haven't heard back.

I received a call from you last Thursday regarding a fraudulent check a lady was trying to cash. Apparently my checks were stolen out of my mailbox.

You indicated you were notifying the police and my bank needs further information (police report number).

I have been trying to call you back, left messages, but have yet to hear back. Please contact me as soon as possible.

User's recommendation: No reply to my numerous calls and emails to A1 Check Cashing Service. One would think check cashing fraud would be a top priority for this type of business, but obviously not. Be ware!

They extorted money and information from me

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - A1 Check Cashing on Telephone Rd required a profile and signing a $1,200 stimulus check, quoted about $100, then voided it and asked for SSN and ID.

TL;DR: Houston, TX - This place destroyed my stimulus check so that I could not bring it anywhere else. I had to "agree" to their huge fee and give them a bunch of information or throw away $1,200!

I made the mistake of walking up to the window of A1 Check Cashing (the one on Telephone road inside the Swift gas station) and passing my $1,200 stimulus check under the bullet-proof glass.

I asked the clerk what they charged, and she told me she refused to quote a price until I "created a profile", and signed the check(!). I asked for a ballpark estimate, and she said $100. I asked for my check back.

She got on the phone with her boss, and refused to give my check back for three or four minutes (I got insistent). Then she wrote VOID on the face of the check before sliding it back!

She said that was "policy" and I could still cash it anywhere else (no attempt to justify it beyond that).

I even went to the place next door to check, and of course you can't cash a voided check. Now my choice was to "give" A1 my business or throw away $1,200.

I had to give these scammers my social security number (the real one, I tried a fake one first), a fingerprint, a photo of my ID, and pay $100 for the privilege.

It seems to me like they committed at least felony destruction of property in front of a bunch of cameras, and I'm guessing they expect to get away with this kind of thing. The places are parasitic at the best of times, but I didn't expect a business in my neighborhood would literally rob me.

Loss:
$100
Cons:
  • Extorted a huge fee and a bunch of information from me

Preferred solution: Everybody goes to jail and the business goes bankrupt

User's recommendation: Go to HEB. Don't trust this company at all.

I'm guessing there's more to this than the complainer is letting on. However, this person doesn't have a case if they walked out of the store with the money. It will their word against the store who will show the transaction went down.

Samuel V Wym

Sorry you got robbed by what you described sounds like the kind of people who belong in prison. It's like licking someone's ice cream cone and then handing it back to you !!!

Guest

If your story is 100% true, the defacement of your valid document by an unauthorized individual is indeed illegal. It will classify at minimum as forgery, destruction of private property (or government property until it is cashed properly) possibly up to larceny by adverse possession. You're only out $100 so it's strictly misdemeanor level stuff but I'd recommend that you establish a relationship with a real bank.
