There had been no communication and now we have a court date

We have spent $54,500 additional since he walked off. We paid for HVAC, insulation, siding, windows and we're still not done as of 10/02/2020

0This has been the single worst experience I have ever had. The contractor (builder according to his license) refused to write out a contract but said he would many times.

Rod Reinke does not know what he is doing. He hired two other guys and worked maybe 4-5 hours a day on our home that we lost to a fire. He had more excuses of why they couldn't work than I have ever heard of. There were many days he didn't even show up.

He asked for 50% down, and we gave him that (oh did I mention he was a friend?) then asked for $40K more - he received $20K and then again asked for $50K to pay the HVAC, foam insulation, and drywall. We gave him $30K. He started making excuses that he could not find an HVAC company who would come out. I made 2 phone calls and the company was out there the next day with a quote the following day.

I gave the go ahead to start and that's when Rod said he had no money. All he did was order windows with that. When questioned, he packed up his tools and walked out! Mind you, with items that belonged to us!

He held our windows hostage and said he would give them to us if we signed a contract! Are you kidding me? $130K and we had a shell of a house with NO windows and no siding! We had studs inside...this was after 10 months of hiring him!

Since then, I have subbed all work to be done and will be completed in another month.

This should have been done months ago...even with the COVID-19 shutdown! He was asked to produce paperwork for the insurance company and never did.

I got in touch with the adjuster and it took me an hour to get it together and get it to him so we could finish the job.

We gave him $130,000. Since then, we have paid out $54,00, and we're not in the house yet and it's now almost 12 months.
