1800Accountant

I signed up with 1-800Accountant in January after being promised personalized service and a local accountant who understood my state-specific needs. That never happened.

Instead, I was passed from one person to another, none of whom seemed to have real knowledge of U.S. small business tax strategies let alone my states requirements.
I raised concerns multiple times over the first few months, even asking whether I should just request a refund because the service didnt match what was sold to me. Each time, I was reassured things would improve but nothing changed. Now that Ive finally asked for a refund, theyve told me its not possible after 30 days, despite the ongoing misrepresentation and lack of delivery on their promises.
If you're considering this service, I highly recommend reviewing everything carefully right away and requesting a refund immediately if something feels off.

In my experience, they overpromise, underdeliver, and avoid accountability. Its clear that many of the employees are not U.S.-based, and they lack the experience to truly support small business owners here.

Over the past 30 days, Ive had the opportunity to try out their service, and unfortunately, it has not met my expectations. The process has been very slow, communication has been delayed, and the overall experience has not been as advertised.

I was not made aware upfront that I would only be able to speak with a call center advisor once a week for 30 minutes, which significantly limited progress. Additionally, the onboarding and support have felt disorganized and lacking the thoroughness I expected. I do not recommend their services. The experience was frustrating, with poor communication and no real resolution.

I was constantly passed between different representatives, and the issues remained unresolved. Unfortunately, this felt like a setback for my small business rather than support.

During the sales call we were promised thier tax advisors who were IRS enrolled agents could screen share, could speak to the IRS for us, and give us tax advise , complaince and planning . After paying a $6000 deposit, the tax preparers did not screenshare or discuss our taxes as promised in the sales call.

They asked us to upload files, and prepared the overdue tax return without my authorization or without asking a single question about multistate tax compliance. When we complained they said if we want to speak to an accountant , we have to pay for the tax advisory. We paid for the tax advisory . when we tried to schedule with the CPA we were told that noone was available for four weeks.

We asked for a refund as two months had passed by this point. This was refused. we finally got a call from a shady woman who wouldn't reveal if she was a CPA, refused to screenshare or disclose her hours of avaialbility. She also refused to confirm if she could ensure complaince, answer letters from the IRS , or any of the other services promised to us.

We again said we wanted a refund, as the services offered were different from those promised and we did not want their services. We then recieved a letter from another rude and agressive woman who wanted to ' manage expectations.' we explained we did not want our expectations managed, we just did not want the service they had to offer, and wanted a refund and did not want the subsequent years tax return done orthe tax advisory .

Still not heard back, still no refund. There are errors on the tax return naturally as it was completed without appropriate process or controls.

I was charged $2700 upfront.

My books were never reconciled, I had to do all of that myself after I already paid.

2. I never received follow-up calls every month, that stopped after the first month and now I see why, after your 30 day refund policy is over you all disappear!!

My taxes never got done until last month which was 9/2024 for my 2023 return.

5. I had to print over 40 pages sign and mail my taxes out myself because they were so late. WHICH COSTS ME $50.

I was never informed about what was going on, if an extension was filed, if I received fines from the IRS for them filing so late?

7. I just received a message from them stating that they used the wrong EIN number so my taxes still haven't been filed 11/2024!

These people are horrible! I rightfully so asked for a refund and they refused to give a refund and said we were only able to receive a refund after 30 days!

That's where they get you! They take all your money then they don't do anything for you!

I had high hopes for 1800 Accountants when I signed up for their services. They presented themselves as the solution to all my small business financial needs, even going as far as creating a comprehensive org chart to show how they would integrate seamlessly into my business.

However, the reality has been far from what was promised.

The bookkeeping they provided was subpar, and after the initial onboarding period, communication became nearly impossible. It seems like they vanish once they've secured your payment.

Now, I'm left dealing with their mistakes and have had to seek help from a local accounting firm to clean up the mess they left behind.

It's frustrating and costly, and it's hard to believe a company like this is allowed to continue operating. Beware of their promisesthey don't deliver.

I have paid this business $6,544.90 to correct a previous return and to file our most recent return. The Tax Advisor assigned has provided little to no advice when requested; any advice that has been provided is vague and not actionable.

This is certainly the opposite service that I was sold by the sales agent.

As the accounting team approached the 10/16/23 extension deadline for the 2022 tax year, I asked about the consequences of potentially missing this deadline. No response. They missed the deadline. I have continued to ask about consequences and have never received a response.

Instead, I received 2 penalty letters amounting $4,280. They were supposed to save me money and they have now cost me thousands of dollars.

I was told that they would prepare an abatement request response for those penalties. I emailed repeatedly and was told I would receive it later in the day. That happened multiple times and all I would get its a response along the lines of, "Sorry we didn't get to it.

We'll get to today." All lies.

I had warned them I would be out of the country in December and needed it by 12/18/23 to be able to respond in time. They lied repeatedly and I was out of the country when I received a draft of a terribly written letter a couple of days before the 12/26/23 payment deadline along with a request for me to write a second letter. I had told them repeatedly to just let me know if they can't do it and if I need to do it, and they assured me they had it under control. All lies.

While out of the country, I had to spend additional money on international calls to try to resolve the matter. Eventually, they had to print and mail the letter on my behalf and they mailed it on 12/26/23. That's hardly a resolution of the matter!

We hired this company to make sure our taxes were in tip-top shape, in particular for immigration purposes. In November 2023, they emailed me 2 hours before the eFile system closed to upload my 2022 return.

With such short notice--and since I don't constantly monitor my email box during the day--I was not able to upload on time and then had to file on paper. Two hours' notice by email is truly ridiculous! As a result of this, the filing is now delayed and our 2022 taxes are not yet transcribed. My wife is going through a naturalization process this month and we need all taxes filed correctly.

Due to 1800Accountant's unprofessionalism, it has now put my wife's 6-year nationalization process at risk.

Now, quarterly taxes are due 01/15/24. I was told they would reach out to me to let me know what I had to pay when the time came. I keep the accounting system up-to-date so they have all numbers down to the penny.

As we approach the deadline, I reached out to ask about when I would receive the payment amounts.

Instead of getting a response, I was told today by the Tax Accountant to fill a bunch of stuff out (using data they already have) so they can assign someone to determine the taxes. There is 1 business day before the payment is due, and if the past is any indicator, they will miss that deadline and I will have a penalty.

If anyone business wise or otherwise is trying to get help on their taxes I strongly advise not to use 1-800-Accountant my wife and I were customers but we are also veterans and as customers of one 800 accountant we were told by multiple people that the money that we paid $2,447.19 upfront we would get back on our business tax returns 1-800-Accountant did not keep their word regarding that, on top of that they sent us back our tax returns claiming that our refund was not even half of what our refund was when we went through a secondary source and they tried to cheat us out of $1600 that was owed back to us on our tax returns not including the payment we made during this whole time my wife while trying to take care of her business and our six month old daughter try to keep in contact with advisers from 1-800-Accountant to what needed to be done and what needed to be filed and taken care of regarding the taxes for her business. 1-800-Accountant would reschedule on her and would not be unable to be reached on the date that they scheduled to talk to her.

On top of that when she was finally able to talk to somebody it was somebody that was either not confident enough or unwilling to help her or refer her to somebody that could give her a straight answer. With that being said we called 1-800-Accountant to let them know that their customer service was terrible we couldnt get in contact with them when we had questions they lied to us and tried to cheat us out of money that was owed to us on our tax returns and when we ask them for our money back they wanted to hide behind policy and tell us that even though they did not do the job that we paid them for in the first place that they were unable to give us our money back. No one should have to deal with giving somebody their harder earned money for services that they are not going to honor for what they are getting paid for I strongly recommend that anybody and everybody doing taxes stays away from 1-800-Accountant.

From our experience they will lie to get your money and then they will deliberately neglect to perform the services that you paid them for. $2447.19 is what we paid 1-800-Accountant and we want it back my wife and I do not pay anybody just so they can do nothing.

I paid an initial fee of $427.29 on September 6th 2023, and a accountant date was made by the 1800accountant broker. The IRS gave me 30 days to select the corporation designation for my company in which I paid for the advice of 1800accountant.

The broker failed to make the date. I called back and scheduled another date. The new broker canceled the initial accounting interview as well. I requested a refund.

1800accountant would only refund $385 stating that it is their policy to keep %10.

This was never discussed with me. So I paid them $45 just to screw me over and they never provided any service to me.

1800Account screws over veterans and their customers! We hired 1800Accountant for 2 months they lied to me and told me when I file my business taxes Id get a refund for the money I invested through my taxes!

After it was said and done they lied and my refund amount was zero! When ever I needed questions answered I could never get a straight answer! They kept rescheduling my appointments and I could never get my questions answered. My husband and I are both veterans and we filed our taxes with a separate company and the amount we got back was 3 times more than what 1800Accountant was trying to say wed get back!

They are rated a zero because they refuse to give us our money because of a 30 day policy! They owe us $2447.19 for our refund but refused to give it back
