1 and 1 deleted my list of domain names and wants $200 extra

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I got behind on paying for a few of my domain names. 1 and 1 locked my access to an entire list of my domain names, including the ones that were paid for. When I paid for the domain names I was behind on, they deleted the entire list from my access. Now they want me to pay about $200 more just to give me access to the names that I already paid for.

This is a scam. The company is unresponsive. The have treated me dishonestly, and they cannot be trusted. I need access to my paid-up domain names, so I don't have much choice but to pay them the $200. I'm concerned that they might ask still more money before they give me access to my domain names.

Unable to get refund

I have dealt with 1and1 Hosting for over a year with no problems. But now I want to cancel all contracts with them. They are going nowhere.

I phoned the operator as per the rules and cancelled all 7 plus the e-mails. Then 1and1 started to take payments from all I cancelled. I managed to collect all refunds back to Paypal except one.

The initial date on this one was Aug. 13, 2015

and the date of cancellation was one day short of the allowed month,Sept. 12, 2015 and I still haven't received my money back.

Needless to say I won't deal with 1and1 Hosting again and warn

others to do the same.

Reporting to the BBB

Most ignorant and rude call I have recieved as a business owner. I will be reporting this to the better business bureau!!!

Several comments from the caller referencing "you people". I still have no clue as to what the sales pitch was supposed to be about and the caller refused to let me speak to a supervisor, instead choosing to call me a few profane words before hanging up the phone. This has wasted about a half hour of my day so far.

I have tried to reach the company but it seems that all the numbers for them just tell you to call a different number.

I purchased domain names on Nov 26th. I was told that email would be sent with info regarding my account.

I put wrong phone number on application. I fixed that issue over the phone and through emails and still can not gain access to my account to work on my new domain names. I was told Friday.. Nov 28th, through an email to expect a phone call to verify my information...again.

They never called. I will be losing money from a customer because a website using one of the domain names was to be built by Monday. I am now being told that I have to wait until Monday for anything to happen. I waited all day for a phone call that never came.

Their website state 24/7 customer support, but no one wants to or cant help.

I feel that I have been lied to and put on the back-burner. It took them 1 minute to take my but it will be 6 days before it might get resolved.

1and1 internet domain host is unreliable

1and1 fails to control its own account. They closed my websites (that have been with them for 10 years) because, when they referred it to their collector, the collector had wrong info. Now, despite my paying all and having the collector okay, they have to wait DAYS! to process it. In the meantime, my account is dead and no one anywhere at 1and1 can do anything at all.

Days, to acknowledge full payment and reenable my account.

It's like dealing with dinosaurs, who can't think. Everyone says that they must follow procedures that do not allow for common sense. Their agent blacklisted me and, though the agent now says that they were wrong, I must be treated as if the agent was right. They can't contact the agent directly, it takes three business days.

In the meantime, they must only communicate with the closed account, so, they can't send me anything!

Then their on-line forms are fillable only, so, they cannot be attached to an email as they direct.

1&1 Internet Inc. Denial of services paid for

1&1 Internet Inc. sales contacted me by phone earlier this year trying to sell additional services to my account.

I instructed the sales person that I was not interested and that I did not want or would not use the service. I even told her not to charge anything to my credit card account that was not part of my existing contract. After thirty days a charge for $59.97 appeared on my credit card statement. I disputed the charge and 1&1 Internet Inc.

issued a credit. About a month later I was notified that my email service was being locked because I had filed a dispute. I was provided a form that I had to fill out stating that the dispute was not valid and then they would unlock the email account. I did this and they re-billed the original charge.

I contacted them about removing this second charge and after numerous email exchanges and phone calls they said I had to contact the credit card company to get it corrected. I called the credit card company and they removed the charge and said everything would be ok. I asked if this would cause 1&1 Internet Inc. to lock my email account again and they responded that it would not.

Today I got the email from 1&1 Internet Inc. that my email account was being locked because of the disputed amount. I contacted 1&1 Internet Inc. billing and was told that I had to send the charge back authorization form to them again.

That I had to fax it and could not email it. Since I do not have access to a fax this causes additional hardship on my, the customer, to fix their mistake. They are unwilling to correct the problem they caused and have created hours of work and frustration for me. All I want is to be able to use my email account that is part of my internet domain that I purchase from them.

Their customer service is horrendous and no-one in their billing and customer service seems to be able to fix it.

I am paying for my domain name and the email service and they have locked me out of it because of a problem they created. I am being denied something that I have paid for.

1and1 deleted one of my domains list against my will and without any notice

suddenly, my website become off-line, then found the related domain name registered at 1and1 was deleted from my domains list against my will and without any notice. I passed about two days to exchange emails with them to solve the problem.
Tickets: C30148**** - C30152**** - C30155****.
Imprecise answers unconvincing, sometimes vague, shows a lack of effort to solve the problem, which extends the number of messages exchanged, and therefore loss of time due to the customer. I curse 1and1.
Last email from 1and1 :
> From: complaints@***.com
> We have received an escalated case from the Technical Support team. It appears as though the domain was cancelled via the online cancellation tool. This would mean the account holder or someone with access to the account cancelled it. You would need to fill out the redemption form that we have available on our website<
My answer to this was:
What you say below is what you want me to believe, but it is very clear that this is not the truth, the traceability of your server and IP routing can prove it. There is no doubt that it's someone in your staff, and you refuse to admit it and at least to apologize.
Taken rage against this pathetic behavior, I ended up canceling my account with them and Give Up all other domain names.
After a moment I have been informed that they tried to extort funds from my Paypal account.
So that I emailed them :
In any case it is too late, the damage is done. Review your strategy or your company will continue to fall. Compare yourself to successful companies like Godaddy, Enom, namecheap and others … I'll never regret leaving 1and1 which has increasingly bad reputation and which made me suffer much by its lack of efficiency, good riddance…

1 & 1 Internet, Inc. Billing Fraud

1 & 1 Internet sold me a web hosting package, which I discovered is mediocre at best. Their phone support was terrible.

Their contracts auto-renew regardless of your original contract length, and I called prior to the end of my contract to cancel. They confirmed my cancellation, and all seemed fine. Months later, and out of the blue, I got an email stating they have been trying to bill my credit card, that I owe them a bunch of money for hosting services, and that they will send me to collections with additional fees, if I don't pay immediately.

They refuse to honor my cancellation request, and the rep talked over me instead of letting me have my say. DO NOT USE 1 AND 1 HOSTING unless you are prepared to proactively defend yourself, and send a registered letter with signature request to request a refund, else they may stiff you too!

That's what happens when you transact business with american companies, I'll be overly nice and just say 80% of them cannot be trusted as they are pure trash. :roll :roll

Not an American Company issue other than the out-sourcing they use!

Guest

I am having this same issue right now. I cancelled my contract and turned off auto-renewal months ago.

Today i got an invoice for another year of service. I had a domain from them four or so years ago and they did the same thing. That time I did not turn off auto-renewal (they bury that option deep and don't tell you they're going to auto-bill you unless you select it anyway), and they did refund my money.

It is just dishonest to make a customer opt OUT of auto-renewal instead of opting IN. And to ignore it when they do opt out.

Sloane Plz

Funny two years later and I am in the exact situation accept I only had it for 5 days. This company have over a 1000 complaints with the bbb and 707 of them are all billing related. I will read reviews before ever purchasing another website./

Sheamus Rdn

CROOKS, they refused to refund fees after I had emailed & faxed proof that the account had been canceled along with the cancelation of each individual item within my account. Such as 3 domains, photo hosting, etc [I sent this confirmation multiple times] was sent to them confirming my cancelation over 30 days prior to the expiration date of the contract term.

This means that I was well within the cancelation period and was beyond dissatisfied with their product line and services, I found much better resources with GoDaddy. These creeps continued for over a year claiming that the account and all services were still active, and they had sent me to collections and bad credit reporting for $140 for another contract period.

What B.S., the email confirmation clearly showed the date & time of the cancellation and other pertinent information about the request and their own response but still denied that it was adequate to stop the billing itself.

I would never recommend nor use their pieces of garbage ever again, I am not a low-end user, I have a degree in engineering and well experienced in technology. I just wanted something quick for uploading photos and captions on a dedicated subject without a lot of backend maintenance that a full scale server would need [my dog was killed and I was fighting the trash who killed her and posting the trial information to help garner support for the cause, nothing complicated but needed mobile access for updating from the courthouse, etc].

I am still currently battling these idiots, years later and no end in sight.

1 & 1 internet (sent to collections for like $)

I didn't want to renew my web hosting with 1 & 1 Internet. The credit card they had on file expired, so I just planned for them to close the account like most other web hosting companies do when they can't charge your credit card. Not 1 & 1 Internet, they sent me to NCO Financial Collection Agency, who calls daily. This is over $36 for web hosting I wasn't even using. Economy must be bad when a company will go to these lengths over $36. I won't do business with 1 & 1 Internet again. Nor will I recommend clients to do business with 1 & 1 Internet. So over $36, 1 & 1 will likely lose much more in future business.

I had the same experience with them. They billed me $29.00 in advance for web hosting services that I haven't used.

Now NCO Financial is calling me daily for this amount. I don't owe them anything!

The next step is to file the consumer complaint with the state. Don't use the Better Business Bureau, it's a club with no enforcement authority.

Guest

This post is spot on. I had the exact same thing happen to me, with one exception.

I had no intention of canceling my hosting account, but I forgot that my credit card expired. Next thing I know NCO collections is calling me. Obviously I paid the 30 bucks. Then I called 1 & 1 to ask why they didn't contact me before collections, the response was that they could not possibly call every one who owed them money.

Next I find a collections on my credit report! Uggh... all because I forgot to update my credit card. Anyway, they could still have my business to this day...

but the credit report ugly mark was the last straw. I'd rather pay more for hosting else where.

1&1 Can be held accountable!

1 & 1 Internet is a horrible company, but some recourse is possible! Not only am I a very disgruntled customer after they lied to me repeatedly after reselling a name I had registered and paid for with them, but I am an investigative journalist. In the last 8 months, I have written more than 30 articles, interviewed more than 200 people who have been blatantly wronged by 1 & 1 Internet, talked to several consumer groups and interested attorneys, and worked with over 60 radio and TV stations on this story. Everyone has been very interested, and the investigation continues. If you have had an issue with the company, you can do the following make a difference, and get your justice:

1.) File a complaint with the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s office at www.pa.gov, or call the investigator Madelaine Dakour directly at (215) 560-****. They have already received a large number of complaints, and have escalated the investigation, so make sure and contact them.

2.) File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau where they already have a completely Unsatisfactory rating by going to www.bbb.org

3.) File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at www.ftc.gov

4.) File a complaint with your state consumer advocacy group through the Attorney General’s office or Secretary of State’s office. Indiana’s is www.indianaconsumer.com

5.) Explore your state’s legislative code and find out where they stand on mandatory arbitration clauses. The Federal Arbitration Act has been shot down by state courts if they find the 1 & 1 contract to be “unconscionable” and without “mutuality” as they offer nothing for the consumer. More and more courts are ruling in favor of consumers, especially with terms and conditions that allow for illegal activity. Breach of contract, fair trade laws, fraud, and consumer laws are the tip of the legal iceberg for 1 & 1.

6.) I’m working with station affiliates of each of the major TV networks, and you can help by contacting your local station through the main sites at www.cbs.com, www.nbc.com, www.abc.com, and www.foxnews.com. Contact the investigative reporter, or simply send a news tip to the newsroom and they will follow up. Chances are, they are already aware of the major problems with the company.

7.) Keep meticulous records!

My lawsuit is pending, and I’ve been inundated with law firms wanting to take on the abysmal business practices, or lack thereof, with 1 & 1. The blatant disregard for the consumers has gotten the attention of the legal community, media, and consumers all across the country and by banding together, we can get some justice. You do not have to succumb to their tactics!

Best wishes,

Kelli J. Jack
