Propane Complaints and Reviews

I have to admit after two years of taking over my family home after my mother past I started to question the Amerigas bill. Their prices per gallon are double than other companies plus the amount to rent the tank is more than what other companies charge (at least 30.00 more) My family has been with them for over 20 years. I can only imagine what my family has paid out to this company. I will be looking elsewhere as soon as possible. Should be a law against companies like Amerigas or they need to be regulated by a Securities agency. It is... Read more

Ferrellgas - Worse Customer Service Ever
1 of 4

I did not have a choice when I bought my house 8 years ago as to who supplied my propane. But from the start it's been a horrible experience dealing with Ferrellgas, several missed deliveries resulting in no gas in the lowest temperatures of Winter. After finding out that their installed regulator caused a large amount of soot build-up in my furnace, causing it to shut down and being told it will take $1600 to get it running again, I was told though it "might be" the regulator's not sending enough pressure to the furnace, but since they only... I have a 1,000 gallon tank from Suburban Propane and the fuel price was supposed to be locked in for the first 3 years. The first year they filled it for that price. The following years it kept going up and I didn't realize it until I looked back now after questioning them. After 5 1/2 years, they want more than double what others are asking for propane and are not willing to negotiate at all! They will be losing my business and potential customers that will be reading this review. Read more

After purchasing our local propane provider, Suburban jacked up the rates and is now charging to pick up the frigging tank when you change to a better provider. I now see that the VT AG has ordered SP to refund a bunch of money to VT customers. I am starting a campaign to start the same proceeding in TN. After I paid $4+ per gallon last fall for $2/gal fuel, today when discussing the pickup fee, I was offered $1.59/gal. Stay away from Suburban Propane. BUT, if you have a good local provider, it is a pretty good bet that Suburban is trying... Read more

Its quite a long story that I don't have time to type. But to sum it up. They did ours as well as most in our area, budgets wrong. Said we owed thousands at the end of the year. More than doubled our budget payment. Even after I made correct payments I kept getting letters to pay more and more. one month paid 700 and still got letters saying they would take the tank. Called and spoke with supervisor who said he fixed it and we were ok. But never got delivery. So called again. The girl told me I was a liar and that the supervisor would have... Read more

Amerigas prices are very high per gallon. I started 20 years ago with a company that sold to another company that in turn sold to Amerigas. They own the tank and have me over a barrel. Not sure what to do. I have cut back on the amount of gas that I use because the bill is so high otherwise. Maybe I will switch to electric and simply not use any gas. Then maybe all they can do is charge me a nominal rental fee on the tank. They can take it out if they want and I won't care unless they want to charge me a high fee. Read more

Suburban called to remove my expired tank and replace it. I am moving so I told them to just remove the tank. They charge a $1 per gallon fee on propane in tank as restocking fee. They do not charge that fee if removing tank because it is expired. I was not getting a new tank so they charged the fee. Either way they remove the tank and take it back and "restock" the fuel, but if you leave them they charge a$1/gallon fee which could amount to $50 dollars to have the tank removed. Too bad if you have 100 gal tank or greater. Scam to make money... Read more

I bought a 20# BBQ style tank from One of there cages in Logan Utah, about a week ago. I hooked it up to my grill and it burned for about 5 minuets then the flame started to go out. I assumed it was empty so I went to change it out and the tank was still almost full. I hooked it up again and it had a hard time lighting and then would not light at all. I took the tank to Thomas petroleum in Logan to ask them if they would look at it and refill it. There guy put a fitting on it and let some gas out. It was NOT propane that came out. He... Read more

I had 60% of propane still left in my tank at the beginning of winter. I would not need to buy propane at all this season. I was out one day in December and when I got home I found that they had "topped off" my tank while I was gone. I told them to come and take it back, because I did not need it. They said they could, BUT a big truck would have to go in the yard, next to the tank to take it out. That would ruin my new field lines. How can they force you to pay for something you did not order? I have been a Superior Plus customer for several years. Initially they had a competitive price but over time their prices went way up. I decided to purchase my own tank in order to shop around since Superior Plus wouldn't come close to the competitors prices. When I requested that they pick their tank up, it sat there for over a month. I called in again, and a week or two passed and they didn't pick it up. Finally I Called in and was very demanding that they pick up their tank otherwise it was going to be removed from my property and then they... Read more
