$130
I had sold some collectible figurines and made the mistake of using the USPS if it fits it ships to send the package.I had carefully packed the box took it to the post office.
I explained that the contents was fragile and the clerk stamped fragile on the box (MISTAKE!!). The clerk commented that it was packed solid and did not have any movement of the contents inside. I purchased insurance for a value of $130.00. The package arrived at the destination and the package had evidently been dropped or thrown several times, the contents destroyed and the box damaged .
I called the usps to file a claim and had pictures sent from the recipient for the claim along with a copy of the cancelled check to prove value.. After two separate discussions with rude clerks, I was basically told there was not much they would do. I needed purchase receipts to prove worth, these small collectibles were purchased in the 70's and 80's, silly me we did not save the receipts. They said the cancelled check was of no value and to see if I could provide evidence from the internet of their worth.
Well they are not to be found on the internet and are worth what someone is willing to pay for them, remember I am only claiming $130.00. I asked for a refund of what I paid for THE USELESS INSURANCE they sold me and was told that it was not possible. Basically received the same response when I went to the branch I conducted the transaction at. I guess the moral of the story is, the USPS monkeys do not care about the packages they ship.
I will only use them to mail letters (because I have no other choice) but will Fedex , UPS or Acme freight to ship any package in the future.
THE USPS DESERVES TO BE PUT OUT OF BUSINESS !!!I have since talked to others that had similar experiences with the rude, uneducated and surly HIHGLY PAID USPS slugs. 38a4767

I don't know why the post office even has a FRAGILE stamper. 90% of the time packages, with ALL carriers, are moved around and sorted by MACHINES. The rule of thump with any packaging is to pack it to survive a 10 foot drop. And with breakables, you pack the box securely, NOT with newspapers, then DOUBLE box it with more packing around the original box. I have never, not once, lost a package I shipped to damage, and I worked 3 Ebay accounts for over 10 years.
