When you walk into the post office with mail, packages or ect. you would expect your mail to be delivered as said or at least returned in a timely manner, am I right?

This is a personal experience I have encountered and apparently after reading many reviews and complaints I am apparently not the only one who is experiencing this or has gone though this.

What do you think a means?
I was first told that it meant when it arrived at the post office.
What? I paid for that? I know it wasn't much but it's not the point. I thought the confirmation was to insure that the person you sent it to received it.

When you have a delivery confirmation that says your package was delivered the day they said it was going to be, you expect it had been delivered.
You shouldn't have to realize that it hasn't and have to go into the post office looking for the mail to find out it was on the wrong truck route and told they will contact you as soon as they get it back. You surely expect to get that call right?
Well no call, no package, and no one knows where it is.
so now I am wondering why they even scanned it as delivered in the first place.
It gets even better here,
10 days after mailing the package it was scanned finally undeliverable address.
Ok, at this point should the package had been returned to the sender?
I would had thought so, but days pass and no package is returned and it has not been scanned anywhere else which tells me its either still sitting at the post office that scanned it delivered or someone stole it.
So here goes the phone calls, numerous calls to the post office it was last scanned at to never have anyone answer your call, one minute it just rings redundantly, a few times you would get a message machine from the postmaster, but leaving a message does not do any good because your surely not getting a call back or the next time you call and get a fax.. ugh
This whole thing just gets even more frustrating.
So now I'm calling the where it was originally mailed from to speak with the post master there only for him to tell you that it was scanned undeliverable and he didn't know when I would get it back. Well now I'm even more frustrated than before because this just did not seem to be right, I felt like he just brushed me off and didn't want to help me locate this package after being lost now for 20 days, yes that's correct 20 days now. And i paid for the package to get to its destination in 4 days, also did you know you can't actually file a report unless it has been 30 days lost or stolen? Well 30 days later loads of reports and emails was sent out to see if the package could be found and either delivered, returned or reimbursed for along with the contents of the package. Well you can't get your money back for the contents unless you purchased insurance, are you kidding me? We have to buy insurance to protect our mail from the USPS mistakes or their sticky finger employees? This hardly sounds fair.
So a few days pass and
Wow finally someone calls me about the complaint, it was short and brief, but of course not much help either, she just asked me questions and when I answered i was told they already have all the information, why on gods green earth would you call and ask me if you already have it? I don't care at this point just find this package!
Well miraculously it was scanned again, no such number (what ever this means) at the same post office it was lost at 35 days ago!. And to my amusement found out it was, I say WAS on its way back to me, made it to Dallas only to be returned back to the post office that misplaced it to begin with".
Are you kidding me?! (Screaming mad at this point) I called the Dallas post office to ask why on earth would they send a return to sender package back the opposite direction? they tell me sometimes their computers don't recognize the scan and I have to call the Amarillo post office where they sent it;.
(Very big Sigh of disappointment )
Here is the fun part, I actually called the main post office in Amarillo Tx,. A totally different branch Before 7:00 am this morning and oh my goodness to my astonishment I got someone to answer, he was very friendly and apologetic not to mention the only person with the post office with good customer service that i have even spoke with since this has all began, he gave me the number to the post office the package was being sent back to, I called them immediately and again someone answered (totally surprised) and not even the same number that's listed for this post office that I had been calling (go figure), this time not so friendly of course, I explained the situation to her and she asked me for the confirmation number, when I tried to give it to her, she abruptly stopped me and told me to wait she had to get into the screen and put me on hold for nearly 5 minutes, are you kidding me? She asked me for it and wasn't ready? Snappy when I tried to tell her? Wow'.
So anyway she comes back on the phone gets the number and informs me its in route back to them". Ummm I think I just told her this, but she proceeded to tell me it was obviously not a good address, I flat right out asked her how they figure it isn't when I have sent other mail to the same address??. And then I told her it would be much appreciated after it has been this long in this post office if they would hold the package there for it to be picked up and not delivered or returned or sent on the wrong truck? she said she would call me when it arrived so I could let my daughter know her package was there'. Now we shall just sit and wait some more to see what happens. 3152fcc

Finally, a woman with the usps consumer affairs called me, was absolutely as kind as she could be, called the Houston sorting facility and had the manager track the package down before being sent back to Amarillo again and made sure there was a return sticker on it himself. Now how flipping hard was that? Anyway FedEx here I come.
