I have no problem with the flight crew of US Airways, but their ticket pricing and rules are punitive and simply unfair to the traveler. My wife and I were traveling on vacation to the Exumas, Bahamas, in March 2012 and paid for the round trip tickets as part of the resort package?.

We missed the outbound flight, my fault, and asked the desk clerk for the next flight out to the island, which we were given with a $900 per person fee for the ticket change, total $1800! The clerk suggested calling the resort, as they booked the tickets, which I did within a 5 minute period before returning to the desk clerk to inform her that they could not help/. I was then informed the ticket change fee was now $1250 per person as the price had just gone up while I was on the phone!. The explanation made no sense except that we had to re-purchase the entire round trip fare as they canceled the first tickets:.

Net result, I paid twice for the fare even though our return trip was on the same plane as originally scheduled.. We ended up paying approximately $3500 for the air fare.. Their customer service department is refunding $341?.99, BFD!!!!

Needless to say, I will not be supporting this rip-off airline and will do my level best to influence other travelers to do the same thing,.Simply unfair business practices! 2f446ce

Thanks for the comment on the the flight crew, but this really isn't the airlines fault. Many airlines are using non-refundable tickets and if you have to change, there are fees. The reason this has happened is because an airline seat is the ultimate perishable commodity. Once the airplane leaves with an empty seat, it's gone forever. In the days where all tickets were refundable people would book multiple seats and not bother to cancel, costing the airline.

I suggest trip insurance. It is really very cheap and can help in situations like this.

You can't blame the airline on this one, since you missed the flight. Also, with hundreds of websites booking flights this day and age, fares can go up in a matter of minutes. I am sorry you feel as if this is the airline's fault but the fault lies solely with you.
