My husband and I tried to go to the orientation with an open mind. In Feb 2013, we paid $99 to stay 2 nights and 3 days "at the resort" if we attended an hour (ONE hour, 1, uno, une, that's ONE hour) tour of the resort.

A month later I found out I was pregnant. I was sick as a dog and could barely get out of bed. However, despite telling Silverleaf this they HOUNDED us for months, calling non stop to book our stay. I thought "umm.. I already paid you $99 bucks, of which we haven't used yet, you can wait until it's convenient for US to book this, no??"

Finally in October we booked our stay. Only to find out we weren't even staying at the resort, we were staying in a nearby hotel LOL .. are you kidding me?

We get to the resort, 2.5 hours from our house and are greeted by a nice young guy (24?) who was our tour guide. 4.5 hours later we were still there.. mind you I'm 7 months pregnant, feeling huge, and STARVING at this point. Multiple times my husband told them we had to get going because I had to eat. Everytime we were met with "well, let's just talk about this first" ...

From the time we got there till the time we left they were peppering us with questions that would ultimately try to sell us our dream resort vacation. Basically they disregarded ANY and ALL expenses when it comes to planning a trip - entertainment, food, travel plans, etc.. but they definitely had no problem adding that to what we "normally" spend today. They just forgot to add it into the budget of having a timeshare.

It came down to them starting out with $5000 down and $500 a month.. LOL . We told them "no" right off the bat. By the time we left it was "put $70 a month down and we'll hold it for you for the year and a half" . it was a complete joke at that point. We told them no 5 or 6 times and each time they came to us with a better deal. So - if that's fun for you, and you have 5 hours to kill on a beautiful day - then by all means, maybe this is the package for you. But to say we "OWN" something and not have a real piece of collateral, rather we own the week, just felt sketchy. The whole thing felt skeezy and like a lie. It seemed we were getting duped somehow and I'm so glad we stuck to our guns and told them know. At one point we almost waivered on $1080 down and $200 a month.. but then you think about it - you also pay maintenance fees FOREVER. that's $80 a month for the rest of your life. NO.BIG.THANK.YOU.

Have an appointment to cancel our contract Saturday (this will be day 6 of contract). Hopefully we don't get jagged around like it sounds like most of these people do.

After saying no to the $4000 down payment, an account manager came back and said that someone had upgraded etc and gave us their package, lowering total prices/monthly payments, and said we could stay there for free sunday-thursday.

Signed all our paperwork and went through the packets they had given. Noticed that every single resort was packed with presidential suites and that we weren't getting a deal at all.

Started reading these reviews and almost fell out of my chair. couldn't believe my boyfriend and I got suckered into this, seeing as how if we would have just kept saying no, they would have basically given it to us for free. Can't wait to get out of this contract.
