Royal Caribbean - Sorry we put someone else in your room, but sorry, no refunds!!!

To make a long story short, my family booked 7 rooms on a family reunion cruise.I had to board mid-cruise due to a work conflict, but was fine doing so (no problems as this was on my end).

I paid full fare for the entire cruise, but got permission a month in advance to board mid-way. Upon checking in on the boat in St Croix, I walked into my room to find the bed sheets slept in and towels on the bathroom floor?. Thought I had the wrong room/. Guest relations told me they had someone sleeping in my room every night until I checked in!.

I had to wait for them to turn the room that I had paid full fare for the entire cruise because they used it for another guest". Upon complaining that they cant charge me for a room that they gave to another guest, all I got from them was "sorry, no refunds", sorry, no refunds", "sorry, no refunds".. HUH!?! It shouldnt matter when I check in, if I paid full fare for the entire cruise, you shouldnt be able to give it away to someone else to use until I get there'.

I escalated this through management and still got "sorry, no refunds":.

Charging me full fare but giving me room to someone else while I'm not there (How legal is that?)..I asked for a refund of the nights they had someone else staying in my room and again I got - "sorry, no refund!!!!!" 2f38267

Very interesting question. Perhaps you can find an answer as to it's legality via some of the cruise websites/forums.
