Rainbow Play Systems - Not made in USA at all

They advertise made in the United States, but boxes said made in china.Called the main corporate number and asked about the situation and they said the website had not been updated yet.

But everywhere on rainbowplay.com and catalogue does it talk about the us factory. We buy stuff that is made everywhere it was just that the saleswoman pushed so hard on the made in the us feature. I was very skeptical of their answer but will give them the benefit of the doubt.

This happened last week, today is feb 17, 2013 let's see if they fix it. 388eb71

I used to work at Rainbow Play Systems, Inc. at their home warehouse in Brookings, SD in 2008. Since it has been 5 years since I worked there, some of their operating procedures may have changed.

The chinese parts you are getting could be some hardware pieces (i.e. wall climbing parts, ropes, bolts, screws, ect.). Most of the wood they get is from the US (alot from California) while some comes from Canada as well. They have/had Redwood, Cedar, and Pine.

They had different grades of wood for different pieces of the play set, so your whole play set won't be grade "A" wood. Some of the easily overlooked pieces or pieces that don't effect the integrity of the structure may be grade "C".

Now I wasn't involved in the customer support side of the business but I would call this number in Brookings, SD (605)692-1500. If enough of you are pissed off enough and keep calling them, hopefully they will get the point and change their act.

I am not trying to defend Rainbow Play Systems, Inc. by any means. I am just here to provide some inside knowledge (even though it may be a bit dated) and to help in any way I can. I love my town and don't want the reputation of one business tarnish the perception of the rest of the town.

Feel free to email me at martmarty27@gmail.com if there is anything you want me to find out about. I cannot guarantee anything but it seems like some of you aren't getting straight forward

As I understand the only sets that are made in China are the smaller box kits and you can tell by the wood and simply by the price. The higher end models like the Sunshine, Rainbow, Monster and King Kong series are all made in the USA. The slides are made in Canada and the swings are USA. The only thing made in China on the original Rainbows is the hardware.

Work at the one of the biggest rainbow stores, and none of the units are all made in the us. Call your local store and ask where are slides made Or carnival and fiesta parts.

After reading all the lies about service, warranty, quality of wood, types of wood used it would not surprise us.

I just looked on the Rainbow Play Systems site and it states that in 2008 and 2009 they did use some lumber China and now they use American red wood. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the parts might be from other countries, just like in American made cars, some of the parts are imported.
