PetSmart - I'm pissed too at Petsmart

I was just reading the article about this woman who took her shi tsu there to be groomed and the dof was complewtely traumatized.

I had the same thing happen to me at the same place about 9 years ago....I also had a beautiful white shi tsu named Benji and the girl who groomed him nipped him with the razer in many places on his paws....he was traumatized for years...took forever to be groomed because he was afraid that his paws would be hurt again...I finally found a wonderful groomer in Courtice who had training in dealing with dogs who had been traumatized or abused, etc. I kept her as his groomer until 2007 when my precious Benji passed away.....I will never ever take another pet to Pet Smart, Whitby, to be groomed again.

My poor little poodle puppy got absolutely butchered at PetSmart Milpitas CA yesterday. She was a little matted, but not more than what I can usually get out with a thorough combing, and we asked for shaping of her 3 inch long coat (no more than 3/4 of an inch to be removed), shaving of her tummy, nose bridge and a tidy-up around the feet and eyes.

What we got was a puppy that was shaved down to 1/2 an chine fur length everywhere except her two front legs, her *** so bare she looks like a baboon and a weird, lobsided 'schnauzer' style cut on her face. my adorable fluffball looks ridiculous. Not only that, she had shaver burn on her stomach and the cut is uneven with huge chunks of fur shorn down to the skin.

We were abundantly clear in what we wanted and we said NO to shaving for mats. I am absolutely livid.

She did not have any. She had a couple of knots but nothing more than I gently brush out on a average day. And, yes, she gets brushed every single evening. There was zero excuse for what they did to our dog and the manager is reprimanding the groomer involved because of the number of complaints that have been made about her poor work and utterly lazy approach. But thanks for the patronising comment :roll

I am a groomer at Petsmart and have 20 years grooming experience.I have worked for several private shops in the past. I have seen many bad groomers who mistreat dogs while working for private shops, there is much more accountability working for Petsmart. We have a great staff who love what they do and treat the animals and customers with the respect they deserve. It is not a company wide issue just isolated incidents just as it is with private salons. Trust your instincts and find a groomer you and your pet feel comfortable with.

Have taken my dogs to 3 different Petsmarts for the past 16 years and had not one problem at any place I went to. As far as the dog being traumatized, that is nonsense. If you were not happy go some place and get on with your life.
