Wife went to OReilly Auto parts to purchase tire chains for daughters car, before driving and leaving the car in Idaho. The clerk told her that the chains could be returned if unused (with receipt).

The chains were inadvertently left in Oregon, and she had to buy another pair of chains on way to Idaho. When trying to return the unused chains, the manager says the company policy (and fine print on recipt) say all sales final.

Store stands by policy and refuses to return them.Manager says can't do ANYTHING to help me, even thought the clerk said they could be returned. 385691e

Tire chains are not an returnable item for any other reason than being mispackaged. This is not Oreilly's policy, but the manufactures policy. If a store was to take a return on chains, they would have to call the manufacture directly and obtain authorization to take them back.

It probably depends on the person at the sales counter. One person would obviously say "no" while another person at a different O'Reilly store would honor the refund. I've seen store managers at O'Reilly make exceptions and refund merchandise for the sake of good customer relations. Some store managers will just flat out say "no", no exceptions. I guess these stores make up their "policies" as they go along. One person says "no", another will say "yes". Good luck!

It's not "fine print", it's the same size as all the print on the receipt. If the counter man or woman lied to you, that is bad service. If not, then yur a liar, just because you left the chains in Oregon. Do you feel entitled? Are you better than every other customer? I have tire chains in my garage from years ago, never used! Do I blame the company? NO! It was my choice. Like I said, if the employee really said Refund Refund Refund, you should go get a refund. Call the employee out if it's true. Go to the store, look him her in the eye, and call them a liar. Get yur money if it's true.
