Orbitz - FLT CANC'D DUE TO HURRICAINE NO REFUND YET

MY flight booked through Orbitz on on 30 Oct from Lima to JFK was canceled due to Sandy.Was told by Orbitz on 29 Oct I would be fully refunded within 45 days.

45 days, no refund!. I call again, was told it should be processed within next , hold tight". 2 weeks, nothing:. Call again, finally got someone who called LAN while I was on the phone, was told my refund would be credited to my card by 20 Jan,.

21 Jan today, no refund/. I called again.. Was told that it will be credited within 15 - 30 days!. Be patient".

I'm over it now. $1,170.34 is nothing to be patient about for almost 3 months. Obitz tells me that LAN must process my refund, LAN tells me I can only request the refund through Orbitz since payment was processed through them. Total finger pointing, no recourse on my part.

Every time I call Oribtz, I'm on the phone at least an hour. No ONE at Orbitz is helping me other than telling me to be patient. They should refund me and get the money from LAN. DO NOT USE ORBITZ!!!!

I WILL NEVER USE ORBITZ AGAIN AND I AM GOING TO TELL EVERYONE I KNOW ABOUT MY SITUATION. 313cd27

I have had the same experience with a flight from Cairo to Istanbul. I arrived at the airport in Cairo and there was a strike. I decided to cancel the flight as I was only planning to travel for 2 days and it was not worth waiting out the strike. I cancelled the flight through Orbitz and was told I would get a refund. That was in September. It is now mid-February and I have spent a total of almost 5 hours on the phone with Orbitz trying to get my refund. After a 48 minute call today, I am told that I will now only have to wait 21 more days. What is the point in using a service like Orbitz if it's actually a hassle. It would have been far easier to have bought the ticket through Turkish Air. Such poor customer service.
