As an employee of Macy's I have recently been introduced to MySchedulePLUS.IT IS AN INSTRUMENT OF TORTURE!

We used to have a core schedule that worked for all employees and we could plan our lives and take care of our families. Now we do not know from week to week what days or times our shifts are and they are never convenient and never make sense. It makes me want to Quit!

Also magic selling and scorecards are a joke and based on negativity and they don't help or work. They are just designed to make a few execs in New York look good and only hurt employees and customers. 30cd446

Everyone needs to report to their managers if they do not like the way things are run and ask them to speak to their bosses at company meetings and hopefully they will address your concerns.

I am employed at Macy's as a Sales Manager and I feel the associates pain. I know MSP was a politically correct way to help the company save money and rob the associates of the benefits they truly deserve i.e. paid time off, medical and dental benefits etc. What the company expects from them is insurmountable for the wages earned. I believed that Macy's was Americas favorite department store and amongst the Elite however I now see we are merely a notch above Kmart ! and Kmart sucks!!!

Msp is a disaster. Our store is one of the last store getting it and we all agree with the disaster that it is. Magic selling and score cards are a pure joke design to exploit, control, and manipulate employee. The sales goals are impossible to reach, it is soo stressing. Leaving by the end of summer.

This is so simple. If you do not like the system that MACYS has adopted "Leave" AND GO ELSE WEAR no one is "Forcing You To Stay".Some people just like to "Complain" all the time.Macys is not going to "Work Around Your Schedule" nor "Work around your family's "Schedule".It is your responsibility to make sure that your family is in "Tack".What Company allow's you to work your own "Schedule" to fit your own "Need's".If you do not get enough "Hours",It is probably because of your "Complaining So Much".Work with management and Management will work with you."

You obviously don't know what MSP is and are not an employee of Macy's, your comment is irrelevant. We do not get our hours cut for complaining, the system does it on its own and still to this day has many glitches and error. Aside from not complaining, you should also not comment on things you know nothing about, and if you do, explain yourself better.

The MSP system is a nightmare from *** and it serves NO purpose other than to put selling associates in a constant frazzle. The problem is some big shot at Macys decided to spend millions to buy this system and now they don't have the sense to admit they made a huge mistake-so all the associates are stuck with it. I guarantee the bigshot who put the MSP system in place at Macys does not work a MSP schedule himself. If any Macys exec would actually see what that hellish schedule is like for themselves they would get rid of it.I would love to know what the employee turnover rate is for Macys compared to other stores as well as see if customer survey ratings have gone up or down since Macys started using My Schedule Plus. I was in Retail for many years before working for Macys and I know there are always some employees who like to work nights because that way their spouse can watch the kids or some that ONLY want to work weekends because they have another job etc. With the MSP -forget it-none of those people can work for Macys-Macys expects their employees-even the part-time employees -to have no life AT ALL outside of Macys. No Tuesday night book club-no making Doctor appts more than 2 weeks in advance- no taking kids to soccer on Wednesdays. Macys tells you that you can switch with another associate-yes ,you can -in theory. In actuality? forget it.And the Macys "point system" is just a method for robbing employees of their vacation time/personal days. What's really annoying... Show more

Many companies in america are having a hard time and have been for a long time, we need to work together to fix problems we do not like. Humans have a hard time with this, most places I have worked have had problems of the ones you have mentioned or similar.

Macy's in America ruthless as Bugsy Siegel
MACY’S RECIPES FOR HIRING PEOPLE AND ABUSING THEM
Macy’s managers are well paid to abuse Macy’s workers and employees
Macy’s managers enjoy the good life, driving very expensive cars, getting high as much as they want to and promotes violation of labor laws for Macy’s benefits with the advised of some lawyers working on the Labor Laws ethical borderline
Very well paid Macy’s managers abusing a lot of employees justifies their very high salary, because they are saving a lot of money to maintain a large number of employees paid at the minimum wage and making a lot of profits on its sales as well on the low wages paid to employees.
No employee hourly increases, in other words nobody gets a dime, never, even after working many years for Macy’s and having an excellent performance on the job
Macy’s profits came from a combination of paying low wages to employees and very high mark ups of cheap merchandise bought from Asia
Violations of labor laws is the norm at Macy’s and well and cheating and deceiving.
Macy’s is having Lawsuits for paying less hours that the hours worked by the employee. Not one case, but on many cases on employees working in the USA
Also taking more deductions than the law allows on employees paychecks
HOW YOU CALL A COMPANY DOING CHEATING AND DECEIVING AND BREAKING THE LAWS?
“I know the name you have in mind, but unfortunately you can not

Whoa.. Macy's just hired several new area managers and store managers from another retail stores such as Marshall, Target, Dillards etc. No more promotion from within. It should be offered first to those outstanding and loyal Macys employees. Perhaps they are darned sure no one will take the crappy jobs! We end up of having these incompetent area managers that don't know how to handle cash registers when they come to override or any other customers related problem. They just shoved them on the frontline without a training.. ?? looking so dummy infront of the customer! And also those skimpy unprofessional dress code, no class anymore.. :eek

I have been employed at Macy's for about 7 months and MSP is a joke. First of all it doesn't schedule complete coverage in an area, so you have people staring at each other during slow hours and no/slim coverage in peak hours. So you have to switch around your schedule, and then the points kick in. Oh the points. If you are late once in a month (which is considered 9 min past your shift time), it's only half a point no big deal you think. If you are late ONCE OR call off in a month there goes your chance to earn a point back for perfect attendance. And good luck trying to get a manager to fix the points that you lost by switching around shifts that they asked you to work (but didn't put in MSP like only they can do). The advertise option is hilarious if you work in small area like mine that has maybe 2 people at any time who could take my shift, maybe if you worked recovery or something it would be easier. Splitting shifts is not an option with MSP either, someone can't come in early for their shift so someone can leave earlier on a given day, the person leaving early would lose half a point regardless.
Basically what I'm saying is bewaaare of the awful points system.

how can anyone complain about msp? don't like your shift? swap with someone or advertise it and let someone take it. didn't get enough hours? go in and pick up available shifts. it's awesome...totally gives me control over my work week.
and magic selling? it's pretty awesome if you know what you're doing. walking by and telling someone you like their handbag, or their kid is cute, is much better than asking "can i help you?" as a shopper, i get frustrated when associates push to help me...i will go to the sales person that said hello and left me to shop, which is what magic selling allows for.

You sound like a fanatic. Magic selling?? more like magic BS!!!
There is no such thing in Macy's as saying "hello" to a customer and thinking a shark won't get them. All that place is about is theft of sales. Everyone is out to grab customers to meet high sales goals. Not to mention CONSTANT harassment from management to open credits.......what's the deal with that? sell or open credits????? They also like to harass employees to open TFS.....why put so much pressure on a "charity" program?????
Get a real career and stop fooling yourself. Retail is NOT a career.

You must not have commitments to life or responsibilities. That is the great thing about being young. You can waste as much time as you like and lose out on as much money as you want. For those of us with responsibilities, worries, limited time and all those other things that come with being a responsible adult, MSP ruins the way we can efficiently conduct our lives to a livable standard. Full-time employee? No fulltime hours are ever offered. No one should have to sift for hours like a rat in a trash can. Its abuse.

I worked for Macys before MSP and have rejoined Macys since MSP and personally MSP does not bother me at all. I see how it could really screw things up for other people but I am part time with open availability and at my store there is no shortage of shifts for me to pick up. I like having the flexibility. BUT just because I am cool with MSP does not mean I am cool with some of the other things going on.

Scorecards: really? WTF? How degrading is that? Personally they say nothing about how good an employee does their job. It really frustrates me how they take those as gospel. Forget the fact that you come in bust your butt everyday.

MAGIC selling is just plain ridiculous. Customers don't like to be harassed. I know I don't. It is a fake and phoney approach and the training videos are so fake.

Loyalties: If it is not one thing is another. Too much pressure to get the customer to open up a credit account. I hate when places do that to me when I shop. Then there is "thanks for sharing." Now it is "friends and family pre-sales." I am sure customers don't to be bombarded with all that either. I take no for an answer.

The last thing I found suspicious was their opposition to unions and how they said so in the training video about unions they had us watch. It was so obvious they don't want unions anywhere near the place because that would end their reign of terror.

Management: For people who criticize
