The L'Oreal Extra-Intense Liquid Pencil Eyeliner is not "sharpenable".The tip crumbles if you try sharpening the pencil, and if you try twisting the bottom, in the hopes of self-sharpening, nothing happens.

I bought three of them, just to check, and ALL three pencils failed to sharpen. This is a horrible product, they essentially sell you a pencil tip for 8 bucks.

DO NOT BUY!!

If you have had a similar experience with this product, spread the word, so people do not waste their hard-earned money on a product that is of horrible quality.File a complaint with Loreal. 305ab2d

Just sharpen it with a pencil sharpener. It works great after you get the outside layer of plastic off. Took me 3 days and desperation to figure it out!

I too was upset but figured after reading these reviews i was SOOL so i tried to sharpen it, It did not work so well however if you do it little by little and have a liner brush it works really well to just smudge on it and you can keep using it. hope this helps some at least.

I had the exact same problem! This is my second one. I got it on Sunday and its only Wednesday and it is already done! What a rip off!!!!

I had exactly the same experience as Denisse, posted January 31! Same feelings of feeling *** about not knowing how to operate the thing. I cannot afford $10 every 2 weeks. I am on to another product, another company.

Thank God I'm not the only one. I was starting to feel retarded in not being able to twist up the eyeliner. But I guess it's the product itself, what a bummer. I too love the intensity of the color, and the smudger is great too. But it only lasted less than 2 weeks, rediculous! I can't believe it and the pencil is like so long! Loreal needs to Fix It!

If the liner is flat, try to brake off the little tip on the other side. When you do that, take the tip and dab it on the liner. Just apply the liner from there. :)

Rip off! The 3 times I was actually able to sharpen it enough to use it, it smeared all over. Leaves me with black fingers from trying to re-from the pencil tip, and YES I used an eyeliner pencil sharpener, duh! The same one that works fine for all my other liners. $8 wasted. I want my money back.

This is the best eyeliner I have used so far. Unfortunately, I was mislead just like the other users that the eyeliner twist up. I have also tried sharpening the pencil and the tough plasticky-like tip doesn't sharpen. I went through two of these eyeliners and eventually broke the pencil in half just to push the eyeliner out. Loreal definitely need to refine this product for better use.

Can you love and hate something at the same time? This is my relationship with this eyeliner. I'm glad I'm not the only one who couldn't get it to sharpen and felt ripped off. It's the best I've tried, but $8.00 for a week is wayyyy to rich for my blood. Why doesn't Loreal do something about it?

:( wow - i logged in to call someone hoping that i could get this replaced, apparently not. I too purchased a $9.00 eyeliner pencil that won't raise/sharpen - disappointing

This is disappointing. I will never purchase this product again as it is very hard to sharpen. It's ridiculous that the end turns which leads one to assume that this is how to sharpen it. Also, this product doesn't stay on very long, it smudges and flakes off and is not very good quality. :(

After multiple attempts to sharpen this piece of sh**, I broke off the end opposite the liner; then I took a plastic Q-tip and cut off one end; inserted the Q-tip in the broken end opposite the liner and gently pushed. The eyeliner then came out enough to continue using this so that it wasn't a complete waste of money. As long as a I have a supply of Q-tips, I will purchase the product again.

I had the same issue as you guys above i was hoping that it would just come up as soon as i twisted the bottom but that didnt happen so i grabbed a regular eyeliner sharpener and it worked just fine but i did have to do it slowly and gently (: hope this works for you guys as well.

The same thing happened to me. I tried to sharpen it was a soft pencil sharpener and the *** tip broke off and the twister won't push anymore up. I wrote Loreal requesting a refund because I already threw the packaging out so I can't return it to Target.

@Sarah-Shame on you! Your very rude and I'm surprise you comment wasn't deleted for your personal attack. You obviously either haven't used this product or you were lucky and didn't by a dud like ours. There is no reason to put anyone down for their experience.

You people obviously dont know how to use a freakin pencil sharpener. I too was confused that it didn't self sharpen, buy I used an eyeliner sharpener and voila! It sharpened. This is not a one time use product. Use your brains idiots.

I have had the exact same experience as the other reviewers. I bought the pencil assuming it could be sharpened or somehow used more than once. I like the product, but it makes me furious that it is a one-use eyeliner; once the point is gone, that is it.!HUGE rip-off.

I've had the same issue. I thougt the first one I bought was broken, until I had the same issue with the second one. The second one even broke the very first time I used it!!!!! So I paid $12.00 for an eyeliner pencil I used once!?!?!? L'oreal should be ashamed to put out such an inferior product!!!!!

i did the same thing as katie! i love the eyeliner! it does everything perfect and it last me all day the only sucky part is that in order to get more of the eyeliner tip out u have to somehow break the top part, then get some thin stick to push down the eyeliner so it can come out throught the bottom! :D
