Kirby - Kirby Vacuum is a huge employment scam

I was living in Dallas, TX and working as a bartender, making roughly 300 bucks a week.I decided to move to to go to school in Tyler.

I was in of a job and was browsing Craigslist one afternoon and I stumbled upon an ad saying "IMMEDIATE HIRING!!". I continued to read the ad that stated they were looking for "enthusiastic, outgoing personalities to join a team of customer service representatives". It also said that compensation would be $2,050 monthly, salary pay. Me, being an 18 year old, broke, newly-independent, young woman, I immediately called the number provided, disregarding the fact that I didn't even know what the company name was.

I called and was answered with "personnel". I commented on the job posting I saw on Craigslist and within the next minute I had been set up with an interview starting at 4. It was 2:30. Things seemed a bit fishy from that moment.

The manager gave me directions and I quickly got dressed and drove up to the office, which happened to be 45 minutes away from my apartment. The manager also mentioned that the sign for the business had "fallen down" and gave me a few landmarks to go by. Suddenly I was contemplated the fact that I might be driving to an abandoned warehouse to get raped by mysterious . Regardless, the $2,050 check flashing in my mind, I went ahead and trucked on, mace in purse.

I was surprised by the crappy half-garage, half-office I was witnessing, almost intrigued to turn around and go back home, but yet again the check flashed in my mind. I met the manager as soon as I walked in, he seemed more like a typical than a manager, continually throwing out the word "bro" and the occasional , fine by me, because I have the mouth of a sailor, but very unprofessional for a so-called manager. After filling out a short information sheet I went in the manager's office for the interview. After about ten minutes I was released and informed that he would call me that night regarding whether or not if I got the job.

The ten minute interview seemed short and strange. I was excited though, because the manager showed thorough interest in me...or maybe it was my ***. Anywho, I went home and that night around 6:30 I was called and informed that I had got the job and was given my training hours for the 5 days. 5 days of unpaid training I might add.

So my first day of training, was actually today...and I'm entitled to say, I believe this business is a scam. I pulled into the parking lot along with 12 other broke victims, a business who hires dozens of people at a time does not sound very legitimate to me. The business is selling Kirby vacuums. A 2000 dollar vacuum that is an excellent product, but way over-priced.

I was told that we would make the $2,050, only after we had 60 appointments, and who knows how long that would take..!.I have bills to pay". The 4 hour training session went well enough, filled with laughs and funny stories, but the whole system of door-to-door selling overpriced vacuums just didn't settle very well with me!. I heard many stories as well about the fact that nobody was making money from this company, and though the manager continually went on about how he was making $5000 a month, he was still driving a 15 year old car:. I'm sure if he was actually making $5000 a month, he'd probably be in a beamer;.

I have to admit though, the persuasion used by the manager to lure in broke mortals like myself, was superb!. Thankfully I came to my senses and realized that someone my age making $2050-$5000 was unrealistic,.

Possible, but unlikely;.I suggest that anyone interested in working for Kirby should keep looking for a REAL job. 312dba7

my first and second interview was from kirby. my mom made a joke a day before my interview that maybe it's kirby again and I said that's impossible but it turned out it was. at the first location where I took my 3 days of training, the instructor told us that they are going to open some branches near my place and they are currently looking for manager so all we have to do is to do a good sale for 2 or 3 months and we'll be a manager right away that made us so excited. When I quit my job on the third day, I went to my routine again for job hunting in craiglist and I bump to one of the ad again that I didn't know it was from kirby because this time it has different name and location so I was really hopeful that I have an interview the next day after I made a call. As I was sitting there and filling up forms, there were interview going on before me and I heard rock music again from other room by the way the building was pretty decent. I heard "b" at the end of the music and people are some kind of singing a song, so I continue to listen and finally it came to my mind that it was something about kirby again. So I walked out right away. By the way, when I heard the people singing in the other room, I asked the interviewer if what kind of company she's working for and she said that it's a distributor and she didn't specify that it was about kirby. I had a chance of asking another man that just came out from that door if it's about kirby and he said yes and so I told him that I... Show more

I live in Portland. My mother in law showed me the ad one night and I really excited to respond that night. the next morning I got a call from them and they set me an appointment or interview the next day. So I was so happy and hoping that it is really a good job. to make the long story short, I went for orientation and endure their early rock music with full of cursing words every 10-15 seconds. I like the vacuum but the reason I quit the job is because they introduced some kind of music that seem odd and like an occultism in the third day of orientation and to think that those people who gave their different in sights or tactics about selling the product was boasting a lot as if they really know everything. They taught us how to be persuasive to the customer and such and such.

My name is Deandre Wofford I'm currently working at Kirby in Dallas,TX. I been working here for two days I've sold two Kirby's my first day out. This is not a scam you have to put in the hours at this business just like any where else. Hard work pays off your able to move up in the company faster then any other place I've ever worked. Keep in mind I did four years in The Marines. It takes years to move up in there. Here at Kirby you can move up in five months if you bust your but and at work on time, ready to work. So Kirby is not a scam at all. If you only knew what was on your mattress you would buy a Kirby. To who ever reads this youtube Oprah Winfrey dust mites. Its important to keep a clean house and other cleaning equipment don't do the job. Give Kirby a chance before you knock. 12 in one system working miracles in peoples homes every day. It cleans the air while it cleans the carpet making your home cleaner, helping families that have allergies as well. Do your research.

Kirby Is Not a SCAM! It is for dedicated personal. You have to have a I gonna succeed in this or die trying type of attitude. Everyone that gets started in it starts at the bottom(junior dealer) and WORKS there way up. Yes the bottom does sucks cause you don't make much money....only 10% of your Kirby sales. How ever after just 12 sales you get promoted to Senior Dealer and you can make up to $1000 per sales. So once you get to Senior Dealer it is possible for you to earn thousand daily...the chances of that happening are slim but just one good sale a week means making a $1000 a week and the chances of that happening are very more realistic. If you are willing to work hard and not be lazy you can make a decent living in Kirby..It is also not a dead end job....senior Dealer is not the last step there are higher positions that you can earn in Kirby all the way up to owning your own Kiby Office!!! Not a dead end job you can be your own business owner in Kirby and have other people selling your Kirbys while u relax at home and get paid. Everyone starts at the same level and works their way up to that level. So if you are not dedicated to hard work Kirby is not for you!!

every distributor is different. yes its a commission job. and just like any commission job u have to sell to make money not a scam although some places lie about what it is witch is wrong. the base pay is only the 1st month for 60 demos you do the demos you get paid. but if you do 60 demos your bound to get 10-15 sales. i have been with Kirby for almost a year. its not a get rich quick sceam you have to put in the hours and hard work. i have made good money so far. no its not for every one. yes i have won trips and prizes. i have been with the company for a year and have been put into management, did take a lot of hard work and has paid off. the only difference between Kirby and a car sales job is you don't have to wait for some one to die off to get promoted. yes its door to door been that way for 98 years if people bought on logic every one would have a Kirby and if it was extremely over priced they wouldn't have been around for 98 almost 99 years now.

I noticed all the people that says its not BS ALL commented anonymous lol. I'm a husband and a dad I did the portion meat scam for 10 years and made money. It's called sales and can be fun but I tried the Kirby pyramid for a week dressed nice and enthusiastic and all. What it comes down to is they hope by motivating you that you get a sale before their supposed to pay. Kirby is a great vacuum just over-priced because a 1 of a kind. As far as money while working there is none. If you don't sell you won't get paid. It would be more reasonable as a secondary job not a primary. I'm not a consumer that's why mines anonymous but my name is Mark 317-493-1406 I'm telling the truth. If your gonna hustle do it with cheaper merchandise so you'll have better chance of making money. Good luck

Its Vagisil for starters! I whole heartedly comprehend how you might deduce that Kirby may be a lucrative career decision. However, a vast majority of individuals would likely acknowledge that an organization such as Kirby capitalizes on the opportunity to prey on individuals who are desperate to make an income in adverse economic conditions. Perhaps you should focus your efforts more on enhancing your education rather than insulting those individuals who try to provide some truthful insight into a business that, quite frankly, uses its employees for its own financial gain. Either way, we all wish you the best of luck vaccum man!

Dc distributors of wilmington. I've worked there a week and it alls bs.. they said it would be no cold calling.. you get in the van program and there they are running around like jack ***' knocking down doors. Working 12 hr days. Have to do 15 appoitnment demos and you only get about 2 aday. Everyone you get an appointment with immedietly says I'm not buyin, clean my rug. I don't want to know about the vacuum. Clean and get out... ohh and no one knows the cleaning is a demo and that yhou have to pull a hundred pads and it takes 2 hrs or more.. when you shadow a experienced seller they don't even pull half of the hundred pads. There rude to the customer's with a smilen laughing smirk they ignore the customer and push to get to there bedroom. Then when they keep getting told no I'm not buying the seller gets frustrated like they were never told before we get in the door.

Anyone who works a job for a week and think they know it's a scam is a loser! Why not give it 30 days like most responsible business people? Lazy! I'm a 12 year rep who started as a CSR rep and now works for the corporate office NOT a distributor! When I worked for a Dist. I made a good living, bought a house etc. and guess what I met tons of people that said it was a scam even after I showed them I check! Losers

How do you expect somebody to work for 30 days or more, depending whether 60 appointments are set by then, without the promise of compensation? If we were robots that could sleep outside and automatically recharge, then sure, no problem. It's clearly a f*cking scam when the company intentionally withholds information that would better indicate what the job actually entails! They MISLEAD you into pursuing this job without telling you what it is you will be doing. They advertise this *** job as Customer Service, which it isn't. This is definitely a Sales job.
I have even known about the existence of this sh*tty job and I have even had friends get caught up in it, yet when I saw the AD on Craigslist somehow no red flags went up, perhaps due to the complete misrepresentation of the job description. Sh*tty company, sh*tty tactics.

Yes, fraud is still a crime. Getting you to "work" for free is, by definition, fraud. They can be reported to the police, district attorney and the attorney general's office for investigation. They can be sued for damages and can be fined up to $17,000 by the FTC for each false advertisement they publish. You can file a claim for "back wages" with your state labor board, based upon your "job", regardless of anything you signed later. Yes, it is illegal to not pay you for "training" in a salaried job.

I highly doubt they were scammed! Read all complaining then call your local Kirby office and ask about the paper attached to hiring..... You'll find out most of these people couldn't hold any job or cannot read the paperwork they sign..... If Kirby was bad they'd have legal issues and still to this day they are known as a good, successful American company that are made in America! I use to hire for Kirby and they sign paperwork that states how they get paid etc. they realize it's not a get rich quick skeem an it take actual work they complain.... Think about if everyone was right how would they be in business? Don't listen to these people there story's don't even add up

I WAS UNJUSTLY LIED TO! SCAMMED!
AND TRICKED INTO SIGNING AN INDEPENDENT DEALER'S CONTRACT WITHOUT SUFFICIENT INFORMATION!
THE PROMISE OF MONEY WAS THERE. THE PROMISE OF A CAREER WAS THERE UNTIL THEY STARTED DITCHING AND FIRING PEOPLE
WHO ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT PAY, SALES AND WHATEVER YOUR PROBLEM WAS AT THE TIME.

THIS IS TWO PEOPLE STANDING UP FOR WHAT THIS TWISTED COMPANY HAS DONE TO US, AND REACHING OUT FOR THE VOICES OF MANY OTHERS WRONGED AS WELL!

THESE PEOPLE ARE A HUGE SCAM! IN THE SHORT TIME I WORKED WITH THEM, THESE ARE THE LIES ME AND MY FRIEND WERE TOLD.
1. THIS IS NOT A SALES JOB!
2. THERE WILL BE PRE-MADE APPOINTMENTS FOR YOUR DEMO'S!
3. THIS IS NOT A COMMISSION'S JOB!
4. THERE WILL BE NO DOOR TO DOOR SALES!
5. YOU WILL GET A WEEKLY CHECK!
6. YOU ARE PROMISED A BASE PAY OF 2,000 DOLLARS A MONTH!

TRUTH ABOUT #1. THIS IS VERY OBVIOUSLY A SALES JOB, BUT YOUR TEAM LEADERS ARE TAKING YOUR MONEY BY STEPPING IN AND MAKING
THE SALES!

TRUTH ABOUT #2 NEVER ONCE DID WE HAVE A PRE-SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT MADE FOR US. WE WERE TOLD TO MAKE OUR OWN
BY KNOCKING DOOR TO DOOR.

THE MANAGEMENT WAS NOT THERE. NO TRUE FIGURES OF AUTHORITY EVER SHOWED UP.

WE WERE ALL TRICKED INTO SIGNING AN INDEPENDENT DEALER'S CONTRACT AND WERE REVELED ALL THE LIES SOON AFTER.

ON OCTOBER 16th 2012 I WENT ON A BUSINESS
