I've worked at two Joann's in Florida.The Joann's corporation treats its employee's like s****.

We make minimum wage, even those of us that actually know about sewing, crafting, knitting, etc!. Joann's rather hire people that don't know anything because they can easily pay them less/. In July of 2011, corporate reused to pay me and the rest of my associates our overtime pay". My store manager doesn't like to deal with anything, and always breaks corporate policy because of it, and then blames everything on those of us that are not about of her little 'click'..

I've had my hours redone to match 'maximum hours' allotted for the week!. I've been denied overtime pay and holiday pay?. I've had my hours cut to 22 hrs a week because my complaints to corporate, and you wonder why we're all always either in a bad mood and don't know anything a bout anything'.

Just so you know!.And that's not even touching the iceberg. 38655ad

:( JoAnn's doesn't care about their employees, all they care about is the almighty dollar! People always want to blame the girls that are working on the floor..it's not their fault that they are only given 6 hrs training then turned lose to learn the rest of the company policies as the situation occurs! Some of the store managers and their department managers are good managers, then you have some managers that sits in their office on their lazy butts and talks on their cell phones and doesn't do much of anything except delegate! Yes as a manager you do need to have delegating skills, but you should also get off your butts and get out on the floor and know what your employees are doing, how they are treating the customer, are they doing their scheduled task? You can't know this if you are sitting in the back letting you butt grow bigger! And mind you corprate sits back in a chair and trys to run things from a computer and most likely none of them have ever worked in a JoAnn store or any other store for that fact! I think that everyone in this world that is allowed to go shopping should have to take a shopping ettique class! iF you have never worked retail you have no clue! shopping ettique class would certainly enlighten all of you! and think about this you mainly see alot of women working in this type store. Sometimes I think they all PMS at the same time! I would rather work with 100 men than to... Show more

People that complain to higher ups behind their supervisors back, have a tendency to be punished. Most businesses schedule enough hours so that there is no chance of an employee qualifying for overtime pay. Most employees in retail and fast food places, only make minimum wage. All managers have their little clique. When you went above your manager's head to corporate, you created your own problem. If you want a job, behave yourself and tend to business or else quit and look for what you consider to be a better job.

Somone is a manager!

While it's true people shouldn't expect more than minimum wage at these places, it is no excuse to treat the employees the way management and corporate does.

Denying overtime is illegal. Corporate also fires people going through medica ltreatment such as chemotherapy. Corporate also denies almost all of the worker compensation claims. I've wached employees break their knee caps due to ripping on below code floor mats behind the cutting counter after the employees submitted their concerns over the wear. Guess what? Workers comp was denied in each case.

Management is notified of sexual harassment and problems only to be told to stop causing problems, their hours cut and ignored. It's no wonder people go over their heads. HR is no better! The are proud of a 60% engagement with teir employees. That's a D-!

Yes, every manager hase their problems, but add everything up and you see how bad the corporate side of it all is.

Maybe the new VP coming in (third in five years) won't be such a dumbass
