My daughter and her boyfriend were at Blue Grass Honda in Paducah around 5 p.m.on Thur.
Feb. 14th and what a Valentine they got. She is white he is black, upon arriving at the dealership they looked at the and looked and looked and the Fits were right in front of the show window . There were salesmen sitting in plain view and even a couple had been talking to someone in a vehicle , yet no one offered them any assistance.
The left and then decided they would go back and my daughter stepped inside and ask where the nearest was and in unison from about 4 to 5 people standing there , she was told Carbondale Il. She was never ask would she like to see something they had or even if they didn't have it could possibly get it in for them to look at. She left in tears almost at how she had been made feel. So this morning Fri.
Feb. 15 I drove myself to the Honda dealership and was waited on immediately drove a car spoke with the salesmen and learned that he had even stayed over before waiting on customers. They are open until 6. AFter driving the , a nice little car I might add, I ask to speak with the manager .
I walked in shut the door so no one could hear and ask him was it typical of this dealship to do racial profiling!. My daughter is a very nice looking and usually well dressed when she is out young lady as is her boyfriend very nicely dressed and well spoken". He assured me that this did not go on and that he had a black employee as well as a Korean one , which I know that employee and had he been there the night before would have politely waited on my daughter?. The manager told me that it had been a busy day and he had even had to go out and work which he usually didn't and that he was short a sales person, which I could have understood but when they were there no one was busy other then the young man that was talking to someone that had brought a car to them!.
He said he remembered my daughter and that was sure I would believe her over him '. My daughter is 38 she is not a child or teenager that would fabracate a story and does not look for racism as she wasn't aware it still existed so blatantly/. Had I not been waited on so quickly and was hoping I wasn't I could think this was an unfortunate circumstance but I was waited on quickly and was upset myself that in 2013 people are still showing such disrespect, to a interracial couple|.
Also her boyfriends parents had gone there once to recieve the same kind of treatment and then drove to Atlanta and bought two brand new cars how sad that your own town had to loose this sale'.I won't mention my daughters or her boyfriends name as he is applying to Graduate schools and comes from a family of upper income level and says being black he is use to this but no one should have to be use to it regardless or race or sexual preference........ 3111464

Most salespeople and businesspeople know that now. Many salespeople nowadays realize that just because a person walks into their place of business be it a bank, brokerage house, or a car dealer and is dressed shabbily, it doesn't mean that they do not have money. Many multimillionaires do not dress like they are super rich. Businesspeople and salespeople know this. The same applies to the color of a person's skin. Some with dark skin have lots and lots of money so no matter whether a white salesman may be racist or not, I have to believe he would still want to try and sell a car to a person with brown skin no matter as he can't tell if that brown skinned person has money or not. He'd be foolish to assume they don't have money and ignore them. After all, they're there to sell cars and if they let that person leave the dealership, they've lost a sale. That's the bottom line.
That's why I find your story odd.
