Home Depot - The Worst HomeDepot Experience EVER!

As a regular, a contractor,who spends a many thousand dollars a year, providing my customers the best product.

My name is Shaun Harrison,

I have spent the last 12 years as a handy man in the area.
My last visit to Home Depot at North Myrtle Beach, SC was a displeasing one. I put my material down and went LOWES.

First of all:
many people wore Home Depot attire, But could not find time to help a customer

2 The staffed persons on board had no knowledge of the layout of this store

3 There are 3 computers and or monitors at customer service, their were 3 associates there, they were all helping one customer, not 2 or 3. This is where i put my $380 purchase down and went to Lowe's.

4 At Lowe's I spent the same money, but at the same time was, acknowledged not by HD reps, but caring folks at Lowe's 30a470d

first as an HD employee i'd like to say that this should NOT be how a customer's experience in ANY store is. that being said i have a few questions for this customer.

1. you say that they wore HD attire? was this an orange apron or were they orange shirts. because if it was orange shirts that is what we call the MET team "merchandise execution team" they are paid by the manufacturers not HD directly. if it was aprons than that is a problem as our #1 priority IS assisting customers.

2. you say the staffed persons had no knowledge of the layout of the store? again this goes to question #1 if it was someone in an orange shirt than that is MET team and they goto any number of stores all of which are have different layouts. if it was an orange apron then hopefully it was someone new who would not know the layout of the store right away as that takes quite some time. if they were in an apron and just didn't know and left you on your own then that is a problem.

3. you say there were 3 people at the 3 computers at the service desk but we all helping one customer? i find this hard to believe. if there was just 1 customer at the desk that doesn't mean that everyone was helping the same customer as our system is supposed to prevent accesing orders on more than one computer at a time. they may have been fixing/checking on other customers orders that just were not there at the time.

As Ladyscot pointed out ASK FOR HELP. It's really sad the world we live in. People need their hand held for everything.

Not that this is an excuse, but the first group you encountered could have been the MET Team. Home Depot has special teams assigned to set and service the displays and shelves in the store. Regular employees are trained to follow the FIRST plan. F means Find a customer. The MET Team does not get paid by the store, they are funded solely by the manufacturers. They are not supposed to go out and find customers, but will help you if you ask. Watch them if you get a chance, they are the hardest working people in the store, hands down.
