I just received an email after placing an order for some lamps/household things for Christmas gifts telling me home depot had a "problem processing my payment" when I used a secure online account number generated by Discover card and through Discover's ShopDiscover site...for the record, I've used ShopDiscover for several vendors with never any issue whatsoever.
I called the home depot number in the email to resolve it because a phone number is the only means listed... nothing in writing, just, you know, phone us because we don't want to be held accountable for what we say. Any case, I had a meaningless and lengthy tete-a-tete with a woman at home depot who said that my "transaction payment went through. the problem is that when we go back into the payment a second time to process it to our..." and this is where she started sounding like Charlie Brown's parents.
I said, "OK, I don't understand your point of sale issues and I don't have time to learn. I don't see how that aspect of it is my problem!. Shouldn't your end be calling my credit card company instead of contacting me, the paying consumer?" "Well, ma'am," she replied forcefully, "it's YOUR CARD!" I said, "a secure online account number isn't meant to be used more than once, and as a ShopDiscover vendor, one of their partners, home depot should be aware of this'. This has never happened with any other vendor I've used..
It isn't my problem that your point of sale system is so ineffective that it's costing you money like the order I placed today that I'm now cancelling;." She persisted in asking me for my real account number on my credit card so she could finish processing the payment/. I told her if I don't place an online order with an actual card number, she can rest assured I'm not telling a belligerent stranger on the phone and refused to give it to her,. Twenty minutes later, after all the holds and the bickering, she finally the order:.
What a motherfrigging pain in the ***..Never again. 300b9ff
