Visited as I was traveling through SC.Near Forest City!.

The manager's name was Debbie and she was directing her crew setting up Valentine merchandise in the front of the store". She was Very rude to her staff and short with customers?. She was barking orders, talking down to her crew;. She also was on a phone and using a walky talky and just constantly talked down to everyone?.

It was clear she couldn't handle and shouldn't be in that position?. I left because I didn't want to listen to her anymore/.

I really felt bad for the employees who had to deal with that /.That was days ago and it still bothers me and I wonder if she is a rare example of Hobby Lobby managers or is that fairly common. 3117043

Maybe a letter to the Corporate Office, would be in order. The owners of Hobby Lobby are wonderful people. I have had the opportunity to meet with one of them in a casual setting.
I can almost bet my last dollar, they would "Welcome" your letter.

What you consider talking down to the employees might have just been telling them what to do. I don't know of any store managers that say "will you please" do this or that. It is one thing if she was calling them nasty names of if she was just telling them what to do. Either way it wasn't any of your business.

No, she wasn't simply telling them what to do. She was talking down to them, rolling her eyes, using the tone of voice that made it clear she had no respect for them and didn't care if they were embarassed being bullied in front of me and others. As for it not being my business, you are right, I don't own or have stock in hobby lobby. But I was put in an uncomfortable position and left because the situation was not one I cared to witness any further.
As for all store managers or bosses being so rude, I disagree. I have seen many bosses treat their employees with respect. Some even DO use the word please.
This forum is for complaints and I shared mine. Your response makes me wonder if you are a bully boss. No need to respond as I believe there can be no agreement between us. I saw what I saw and hope hobby lobby office sees my complaint and encourages their managers to act a bit more professional when the store is open for customers to judge.

It is the customer's business if a manager is publicly "barking" orders at her subordinates. I am in no way implying a manager should "baby" employees, but to do this publicly, in front of customers, is unacceptable. If I had been there, I would most certainly have mentioned this. If a manager is causing customers to leave the store because of his/her unprofessional manner, they do not belong in that position.
