We recently bought nearly $7,000 worth of tools from Grizzly!.com for our wood shop in Los Angeles'.When we purchased the tools they took the money out of our bank account twice which left us $7,000 in the hole until it was returned 4 days later:.
Than when the tools arrived, one of the machines, a 15" Planer worked for 15 minutes than stopped".
I called Grizzly and waited 2 days for a Supervisor to call me back, which never happened'. I had to call a machine tech to come look at the machine and diagnose the problem which turned out to be a bad motor.. That service cost me $250 out of pocket which Grizzly "does not cover" although every other competitor does especially on a brand new machine ".
I called Grizzly back again and after 30 minutes of nearly yelling at the service agent who told me there were none available, finally I was given a Supervisor who told me that they could send me out a new motor, but the cost to install it, another $300 plus would be my responsibility".Than 20 minutes later he called me back and told me they did not have any more of those motors to send and that I would have to send the machine back to Washington State and be refunded, and although they would cover the return shipping, I was responsible for packing the machine as it was shipped and after they looked at it they would decide on a refund.

Purchase, and learn how to use a $10 multi-meter and quit ***, you knew where the stuff was built when you bought it.
I have a shop full of grizzly wood working tools. Yea, it is made in Taiwan just like Jet etc. I expect to have to do a little adjusting and extra work when I purchase these tools, it comes with the territory!

I have never had a bad experience with service with Grizzly and I have purchased a planer, bandsaw, drill press and dust collection system.

Keep in mind if you never have any or very few defective products, a business can afford to warranty anything but if you’re having problems with your products, then any additional warranty problem becomes a significant financial burden. I am certainly not suggesting a business should warranty everything but warranty support is certainly an indicator of product quality and reliability.
On one of my first orders I ordered two items that were ordered together, 10 inch plastic bagging and a matching 10 inch bag sealing iron. The large roll (about 15 lbs.) of plastic bagging was a half inch wider (10 ½ wide) than advertised and wider than the capacity of their 10 inch sealing machine, all ordered at the same time. After a couple of phone calls, Grizzly’s first response was it’s your good luck, the bagging is ½ inch wider, a positive feature, a plus, oversized, no problem. Not so in my mind, if you trying to make a positive airtight seal. All polite calls, but a little miffed in my mind Grizzly commitment to exchanging my 10 inch sealer for a 12 inch sealer. I don’t think anyone was excited about the expense of shipping back that 15 lbs. roll of bagging. Nor did they believe me until they went back to look and verify the bagging size, discovering they did not have anything that... Show more

My family has produced carpenters for generations and I've been on the retail end of it for some time now. People like to try to use their wood bandsaws to cut metal, run plywood through their planers, turn too-large pieces on their hobbyist lathe, use their dust collectors that are meant for sawdust to suck up metal shavings... And those are just some of the basic, common things. I won't even get into the "modifications" that people try that go wrong.
My point is, if they offered refunds or exchanges to everyone based on the customer's word alone, they would likely not be in business anymore. If everyone was honest, or at least knew what they were doing, they wouldn't need to inspect a product before giving you your money back. If anything, you can blame your fellow customers for that one. ;)
Likewise, you get a warranty slip for a reason and it's not really a... Show more
