I went in to sign myself up to Fitness Connection.They have a huge sign that says NO CONTRACT. I went in, I've joined gyms before that really have no contracts but FITNESS CONNECTION will make you sign contracts. The guy who signed me up, his name is Jon, he asked me if I knew anyone else who would be interested in signing up and I said maybe, so he told me that I could put $10 down to reserve their spot at the same sign up fee because prices had gone up. I didn't know who so he said it was okay and to just put someone's name down and later they could go in and change the information (including my bank account information), so I put my sister's name down. So I put $10 down, but I asked him if I could get a refund if I couldn't find anyone and he said yes. He knew I had to go back to work and I was running late so he pulled out my paperwork, I even asked him if I could come back after work and he said he was almost done, so I waited and signed my paperwork and then he said, "now sign here, here, and here - all the highlighted parts". So then I said, "but I just signed my paperwork", he went on to tell me that it was just to reserve the spot for the same sign up fee because the prices had gone up already. Unfortunately, I signed. When I went in to tell them I couldn't get anyone to sign up, they said it was too late to get a refund and that the remaining amount to sign up was going to be taken out of my account! I couldn't believe it, they said I had signed up the person I put down and if I wanted to cancel I would have to have a written letter stating I wanted to cancel within 30 days! But the money would still come out of my account including the monthly fee for this bogus account until it was cancelled. On top of that Jon, had told me that my sister or whoever wanted to sign up could just go in and change all the information to theirs and transfer the account to their name when they went in and signed the paperwork - the one he had me sign, however, when I asked if I could transfer the account over to one of my co-workers they said I had to pay a transfer fee of 31 dollars. WOW, Really? The guy who signed me up never even mentioned that. He made it sound like they could just sign up and change the information over to theirs. I feel so disappointed because it went from a pleasant experience to such a negative experience. No one had to convince me to sign up, I went in to sign myself up. I feel like I've been lied to and now they keep wanting to take money out of my account - this is ridiculous! And I thought it said NO CONTRACT - this company has sales people that lie and cheat to get your money and then make it next to impossible to cancel or get out of it. BE CAREFUL.
