I rented a VW Jetta from Enterprise at the Hyatt Regency at Mission Bay and was told that Enterprise had the cheapest gas price for fill up so no need to fill up outside. No one told me I was starting out with 3/8th of a tank full, not a full tank.
I did not realize that until I ran out of gas on CA 74 at 8 o'clock at night half a mile from the nearest gas station. This was after driving for only two hours.
I had used my iPhone map and placed it over the gas gauge, so didn't know I was running on empty.
I filed a complaint with the agent in the hotel who said they'll refund my full tank cost but I have not heard from them. Never mind that I had to walk a mile in the dark to get that tank filled.
1. They should have told me I was starting out with vey low gas and should fill up soon.
2. Enterprise should have apologized and send me a refund or void the cost of rental.
3. They should always tell their customers to fill up if they start out with a low tank. 3807567
