Hello, I sent my wife a new cell phone from Korea, paid EMS the required $35 to ship it from Korea to Vietnam, and I was expecting it on a Monday.Instead of receiving my item on Monday, I get a letter on Tuesday that I have a package with "prohibited items" waiting for me at the airport....

I was immediately fuming because I had dealt with the Vietnamese Government before, and I knew they were corrupt, I never thought an international shipping company would have any issue like this. My wife's mother and father both went to the airport (about 30 minutes away from their house) to try to get the package, and they said they could not release it because it had prohibited items. I was pissed, so I called EMS in Korea to try to get them to recall the package, but their reply was "Sorry, it's in Customs in Vietnam, and we cannot do anything at this moment." So the next day, my Mother in law and Father in law went back to the airport (30 mins again each way) to try again to get the package, and it ended up costing an extra $75 for the customs to release the package to them... plus a $5 tax...

just another kick in the nuts... basically, I wouldn't ship anything of value into Vietnam because of this, and I know for a fact, the country has lost a ton of money just from me from this event because I haven't had my family send me anything from the U.S. and I've been here nearly 6 months now, I love r/c stuff, and gaming, and although I have plenty of time, I will never have them send anything here to Vietnam because I will not risk anything like this happening to me again.

(I also lost a laptop here in good ol' 'Nam.) I am not blaming this on EMS, but they had no recourse when I told them about it, and they were of absolutely no help when dealing with the customs dept.Bottom line, they shipped the package to 'Nam for $35, I guess the rest of the job (which I have as a written contract by them to deliver to my address, not the airport) was my responsibility. 30dfc02
