Update: Direct TV knows what they are doing is illegal. If this has happened to you then don't just take their word that they can do this. The law is on your side and Direct TV knows this. They are counting on you to just give in and let them keep your money. I'm not talking about people with actual accounts where they took your money that you OWE them, I'm talking about non-account, non-contract holders who made a one time payment on someone else's account. Lucky for me I work for big shot attorneys who (excuse the french) got a hard on for this case when I brought it to them. They just LOOOVE class action suits and this one is prime for the filing. One call from my attorney and the money came right back. A thief is a thief and no one has the right to steal your money.

DIRECT TV ARE CROOKS!I used my card to pay someone else's bill 2 times online as a favor because they were struggling financially.

That person has since cancelled their account and apparently owes them money and the receivers. Direct TV took it upon themselves to charge my card $1300 and is refusing to give it back. They said that they read me some sort of disclaimer giving them permission to continue to use my card should the owner of the account miss a payment. THIS IS A CROCK OF ***!!!

How did they read me anything when the payment was made online???? They told me I have to get my money back from the account owner, but that won't happen because that person is now indigent. I tried to file a claim with my bank, but I have to wait until the charge moves from pending then wait even longer to ever POSSIBLY get my money back in a claim!. Direct TV says they aren't budging'.

I'm about to go postal! I'm calling my attorney". I want damages;. This is my money for my cruise with my 2 kids that leaves in 2 weeks (their xmas gift and the VERY FIRST VACATION I'VE EVER BEEN ABLE TO AFFORD)|.

It took me a full year as a single mother to save this kind of money.. I was helping out a friend and Direct TV stole from someone that was just being kind;. WORST KIND OF THIEVES EVER!

What is so simple? I authorized a one time payment out of the kindness of my heart for someone who was going through a hard time financially (due to cancer). I didn't open up a line of credit for Direct TV to take from whenever they pleased nor do I have any contract stating that they can charge my card at will. My friend didn't authorize them to charge my card, Direct TV just took it upon themselves to do so KNOWING that I, personally, don't owe them a dime. So you think that when you use your credit card in a grocery store, or in a restaurant, or to purchase something online that gives them to the right to continue to charge the card whenever they want? Sorry, you are wrong. And THAT is why I got my money back. Direct TV knows they can't legally do this. They just don't expect you to do anything about it. Unfortunately for them I work for a big shot attorney firm, so I know better and I have the brains and the facilities to fight back. Most people don't and that is how Direct TV gets away with continuing this illegal practice of stealing money from people that don't know better. All it took was one call from my office and a big threat of a class action lawsuit. Sorry, you got the wrong girl if you think the responsibility for the theft of my money lies on anyone other than Direct TV. The law is on my side on this one.

This is so SIMPLE.You should never have USED YOUR CREDIT CARD in the beginning.Directv does not owe you ANYTHING.Your FRIEND OWE'S YOU.
